pounds (£3,170), authorized to be raised by the Christchurch City Council under the above-mentioned Acts for the purpose of purchasing and installing a refuse masticator and refuse wagons, the Christchurch City Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of twenty-one one-thousand-two-hundred-and-fiftieths (21/1,250ths) of a penny in the pound on the rateable value (on the basis of the unimproved value) of all rateable property comprised within the City of Christchurch, and that such special rate shall be an annually recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable yearly on the 1st day of April in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of seven (7) years, or until the loan is fully paid off.

I, EDWARD BRUNTON, of Ongarue, in New Zealand, heretofore called or known as “Edward Popoki,” do hereby give notice that I have by deed of poll bearing date the 9th day of July, 1928, and enrolled in the Supreme Court at Auckland under No. 208, changed my surname from “Popoki” to “Brunton,” and I require all persons whomsoever and at all times to designate, describe, and address me and my issue by the name of “Brunton” only.

NOTICE OF INTENTION TO TAKE LAND.
In the matter of the Public Works Act, 1908, the Municipal Corporations Act, 1920, the Wellington City Empowering and Amendment Act, 1924, and their respective amendments.
NOTICE is hereby given that the Wellington City Council proposes under the provisions of the above-named Acts, and all other Acts and powers enabling it in that behalf, to execute a certain public work—namely, for street-widening purposes, Glasgow Street, in the City of Wellington—and for the purposes of such public work the land described in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken :
And notice is hereby further given that a plan of the land required to be taken is deposited in the public office of the Town Clerk to the said Council, in the Town Hall, Cuba Street, in the said city, and is there open for inspection (without fee) by all persons during ordinary office hours, and that all persons affected by the execution of the said public work or the taking of the said land should, if they have well-grounded objections to the execution of the said public work or to the taking of the said land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Wellington City Council, addressed to the Town Clerk at his said office.

RESOLUTION MAKING SPECIAL RATE.
Relief of Unemployment Loan of £4,000, 1928.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, the Lower Hutt Borough Council hereby resolves as follows :—
That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £4,000, authorized to be raised by the Lower Hutt Borough Council under the above-mentioned Act for the relief of unemployment, the said Lower Hutt Borough Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of 44/400ths of a penny in the pound sterling upon the rateable value of all rateable property in the Borough of Lower Hutt, and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable yearly on the 1st day of April in each and every year during the currency of such loan, for a period not exceeding twenty years, or until the loan is fully paid off.
We hereby certify that the above is a true and correct copy extracted from the minutes of the proceedings of a meeting of the Lower Hutt Borough Council held on the 9th day of July, 1928.
