Notice respecting Proposed Alteration of Boundaries, Kamo Town District.

Department of Internal Affairs,
Wellington, 1st June, 1928.

IT is hereby notified that a petition has been presented to His Excellency the Governor-General, under the Town Boards Act, 1908, praying that the area described in the Schedule hereto may be excluded from the Kamo Town District, and included in the County of Whangarei. All persons affected are hereby called upon to lodge any written objections to or petitions against the proposed alteration which they desire to lodge within one month from the first publication of this notice, such objections or petitions to be addressed to the Minister of Internal Affairs, Wellington.

SCHEDULE.

AREA PROPOSED TO BE EXCLUDED FROM THE KAMO TOWN DISTRICT.

ALL that area in the North Auckland District bounded on the north by that part of Te Tupua Block, containing 20 acres, and its southern boundary produced to the middle of the Great North Road; thence by a line along the middle of that road to a point in line with the northern boundary of Section 117, Parish of Whangarei; thence to and along that boundary to the north-eastern corner of the said Section 117; thence south-easterly along the north-eastern boundaries of Sections 117 and 116, Parish of Whangarei, to the Waitaua River; thence by the Waitaua River to the north-eastern boundary of that part of Waitaua, part 50 Block, containing 20 acres 3 roods 15 perches, owned by James Cochrane; thence along the north-eastern and south-eastern boundary of that block to the northern side of the Whangarei–Opua Railway; thence along the northern side of that railway to the stream forming the eastern boundary of the Onoke Block; thence by that stream to the Waitaua River; thence up that river to the Whangarei–Opua railway-line; thence by that railway-line to the eastern boundary of the Parakiore No. 2 Block; thence by the eastern boundary of that block to the southern boundary of that part of Te Tupua Block containing 20 acres, the place of commencement.

Notice under the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, and its Amendment, prohibiting the Sale within the Borough of Stratford, of certain Goods comprised in the Trade of a Tobacconist.

WHEREAS a petition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the tobacconists’ shops within the Borough of Stratford, has been forwarded to the Minister of Labour, desiring that the sale of certain goods comprised in the trade of a tobacconist—namely, tobacco, cigarettes, and cigars—be prohibited during such time as the said shops are required to be closed in pursuance of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22:

And whereas the Minister of Labour is satisfied that the sale of the said goods is comprised in the trade of a tobacconist within the said borough, and that the signatures to such petition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the said shops within the said borough:

Now, therefore, in pursuance of section 33 of the said Act, I, for and on behalf of the Minister of Labour, do hereby direct that on and after the 25th day of June, 1928, the sale of the said goods within the Borough of Stratford shall be and is hereby prohibited as follows: On Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays after the hour of 5.30 p.m., on Wednesdays after the hour of 8 p.m., and on Fridays and Saturdays after the hour of 9 p.m.

Notice under the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, and its Amendment, prohibiting the Sale within the City of Dunedin, of certain Goods comprised in the Trade of a Florist.

WHEREAS a petition in writing signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the florists’ shops within the City of Dunedin, has been forwarded to the Minister of Labour, desiring that the sale of certain goods comprised in the trade of a florist—namely, flowers (whether fresh-cut or made up), artificial flowers, pot-plants, raffia, and florists’ requisites—be prohibited during such time as the said shops are required to be closed in pursuance of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22:

And whereas the Minister of Labour is satisfied that the sale of the said goods is comprised in the trade of a florist within the said city, and that the signatures to such petition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the said shops within the said city:

Now, therefore, in pursuance of section 33 of the said Act, I, for and on behalf of the Minister of Labour, do hereby direct that on and after the 25th day of June, 1928, the sale of the said goods within the City of Dunedin shall be and is hereby prohibited as follows: On Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays after the hour of 6 p.m., on Fridays after the hour of 9 p.m., and on Saturdays after the hour of 5 p.m.

Notice under the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, and its Amendment, fixing the Closing-hours of (1) Hairdressers’ and (2) Tobacconists’ Shops within the Combined District of Petone and Lower Hutt.

WHEREAS a requisition in writing has been forwarded to the Minister of Labour from the occupiers of shops in each of the trades of (1) hairdresser and (2) tobacconist within the Combined District of Petone and Lower Hutt, comprising the Boroughs of Petone and Lower Hutt, pursuant to section 32 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22:

Now, therefore, in pursuance of the said section 32, I, for and on behalf of the Minister of Labour, do hereby direct that on and after the 18th day of June, 1928, all the shops in each of the trades of (1) hairdresser and (2) tobacconist within the said combined district shall be closed in the evening of working-days as follows: Subject to closing at not later than 1 p.m. on the day observed as the statutory closing-day on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at 8 p.m., and on Fridays and Saturdays at 9.30 p.m., with the following exceptions: (1) Should the occupier of any shop affected by this notice observe Saturday as the statutory closing-day in any week, then and in such case the closing-hour on Wednesday shall be 9.30 p.m.; (2) on the working-day immediately preceding Christmas Day and on the working-day immediately preceding New Year’s Day the closing-hour shall be 10.30 p.m.

The notice dated the 14th November, 1923, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the 15th November, 1923, fixing the closing-hours of tobacconists’ shops in the Borough of Petone shall be and is hereby cancelled as from the date of the coming into operation of this notice.

And whereas the said requisition is signed by not less than two-thirds of the occupiers of tobacconists’ shops within the said combined district, notice is hereby given that, pursuant to section 25 of the Shops and Offices Amendment Act, 1927, all other shops within the said combined district in which smoking requisites are sold shall be closed at the same hours as are set herein for tobacconists’ shops.

Additional Notice under the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, and its Amendment, fixing the Closing-hour of Chemists’ Shops within the Combined District of Auckland.

WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the chemists’ shops within the combined District of Auckland, comprising the City of Auckland, the boroughs of Birkenhead, Devonport, Mount Albert, Mount Eden, Newmarket, Northcote, Onehunga, and Takapuna, and the town districts of Ellerslie, Glen Eden, New Lynn, and Henderson has been forwarded to the Minister of Labour, desiring that all such shops within the said combined district, save and except the shop (hereinafter referred to as “the exempted shop”) established at 155, Newton Road, within the City of Auckland, for the purpose only of the sale of medicines and surgical appliances that are urgently required, and known as the “All Night Pharmacy,” be closed pursuant to section 15 of the Shops and Offices Amendment Act, 1927, on Sundays, except between the hours of 6.30 p.m. and 8.30 p.m., and further, that subsection (4) of section 35 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, shall not apply to any chemist’s
