And whereas the Minister of Labour is satisfied that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the said shops within the said combined district, and that all the occupiers of the said shops within the said combined district affected by section 35 (1) of the said Act have been afforded an equal right to share at a reasonable cost in the profits of the business carried on by the exempted shop :
Now, therefore, in pursuance of sections 32 and 35 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, and in pursuance of section 15 of the Shops and Offices Amendment Act, 1927, I, for and on behalf of the Minister of Labour, do hereby direct that on and after the 17th day of June, 1928, all the chemists’ shops within the Combined District of Auckland, save and except the exempted shop, shall be closed accordingly.

[NOTE.—Pursuant to section 35 (4) of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, a chemist in the combined district whose shop is more than two miles and a half from the exempted shop may supply medicines and surgical appliances that are urgently required at any time on Sundays outside the hours specified above: Provided that the shop is opened for such purpose only, and is closed immediately the sale is effected, and that the door of the shop is kept locked, except for the admission and exit of the customer.]

FURTHER EXTENDING THE TIME IN WHICH CHILDREN’S HOMES MAY BE REGISTERED.

PURSUANT to section 4, subsection (3), of the Child Welfare Amendment Act, 1927, I, Robert Alexander Wright, Minister of Education, do hereby extend the time within which application may be made by the controlling authority or the Manager of any Children’s Home for registration of that home under Part I of the said Act until the 31st day of August, 1928.

Warrant of Appointment of Wharf at Wellington under the Customs Act, 1913.

I, ROBERT ALEXANDER WRIGHT, for the Minister of Customs, in exercise of the powers vested in me for this purpose by the Customs Act, 1913, do by this Warrant alter the limits of the Breastwork Wharf at the Port of Wellington, as described in Minister’s Warrant of appointment dated 27th June, 1919, and gazetted on 3rd July, 1919, so that the said limits shall extend from the eastern side of the Taranaki Street Wharf to the eastern side of the King’s Wharf, thence first in an easterly direction for 284 ft., then in a north-easterly direction for 1,660 ft., and then in a northerly direction for 860 ft.

Notice as to an Area in North Auckland Land District declared to be a Fire District.

PURSUANT to section 27 of the Forests Act, 1921–22, and section 6 of the Forests Amendment Act, 1925, I do hereby notify that, on the recommendation of the Director of Forestry and the Land Board of the district, the area described in the Schedule hereto is hereby declared by me to be a fire district; and I do further specify the period from the 1st day of November in any year to the 31st day of March in the following year, inclusive, as the period during which it shall not be lawful for any person within the said district, save pursuant to the written permit of a Forest Officer, to set on fire, or cause to be set on fire, any timber (whether standing or not), or any undergrowth, or any debris from forest operations or land-clearing operations, or any grass or other specially inflammable material, without taking such precautions as may be prescribed by a Forest Officer.
