Rangers under the Animals Protection and Game Act, 1921–22, appointed.

IT is hereby notified that, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority conferred by section 35 of the Animals Protection and Game Act, 1921–22, the under-mentioned persons have been appointed Rangers under and for the purposes of that Act for the South Canterbury Acclimatization District :—

Lieutenant Cyril Theobald Roundell Searle, Royal Navy, to H.M.S. “Philomel,” additional, to date 12th April, 1928, and vice Venville as from date of joining.

Paymaster-Commander William Mostyn Hawkes, Royal Navy, to H.M.S. “Dunedin,” additional, as from date of joining, and with the rank of Paymaster-Commander, Royal Navy, to date 20th February, 1928, and vice Cooke, and as Squadron Accountant Officer to date 18th May, 1928.

HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve of the appointments, promotions, resignations, and transfers of the undermentioned officers of the New Zealand Military Forces.

STAFF OF THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL.

Colonel S. S. Allen, C.M.G., D.S.O., the Hauraki Regiment, relinquishes the appointment of honorary Aide-de-Camp to the Governor-General. Dated 14th May, 1928.

Colonel A. B. Charters, C.M.G., D.S.O., v.d., Commander 1st N.Z. Infantry Brigade, is appointed honorary Aide-de-Camp to the Governor-General. Dated 15th May, 1928.

COMMANDS.

The period of command of Lieutenant-Colonel L. C. Chaytor, M.C., Nelson-Marlborough Mounted Rifles, is extended to 31st May, 1929.

The period of command of Lieutenant-Colonel H. E. Barrowclough, D.S.O., M.C., Otago Regiment, is extended to 31st May, 1929.

Colonel S. S. Allen, C.M.G., D.S.O., the Hauraki Regiment, relinquishes command of the Regiment, and is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class I (a). Dated 21st April, 1928.

Major F. Prideaux, the Hauraki Regiment, is appointed to command the Regiment, vice Colonel Allen transferred. Dated 22nd April, 1928.

THE REGIMENT OF N.Z. ARTILLERY.

Lieutenant J. B. S. Lockhart, 16th Pack Battery, to be Captain. Dated 1st April, 1928.

Captain J. B. S. Lockhart is transferred from the 16th Pack Battery to the 10th Field Battery, with seniority as from the 1st April, 1928. Dated 19th May, 1928.

Lieutenant P. E. Coutts, from the Reserve of Officers, to be Lieutenant, 18th Medium Battery. Dated 12th May, 1928.

William Denzil Philp to be 2nd Lieutenant, 7th Field Battery. Dated 14th May, 1928.

CORPS OF N.Z. ENGINEERS.

Northern Depot.

The seniority of Lieutenant E. C. Schnackenberg is antedated to 19th August, 1927.

THE N.Z. INFANTRY.

The Auckland Regiment (Countess of Ranfurly’s Own).

Lieutenant J. S. Matthews ceases to be seconded to the 5th C. Battalion, and is posted to the 1st Battalion with his original seniority. Dated 12th May, 1928.

2nd Lieutenant J. te H. Grace, 1st Battalion, is transferred to the Wellington Regiment. Dated 15th May, 1928.

2nd Lieutenant W. C. J. Perry, from the Wellington Regiment, to be 2nd Lieutenant with seniority as from the 8th June, 1922, and seconded for duty with the 1st C. Battalion. Dated 7th May, 1928.

The North Auckland Regiment.

Richard Cyril Mitchell, to be 2nd Lieutenant, 1st Battalion. Dated 15th May, 1928.

The Wellington Regiment.

Lieutenant I. H. Galbraith, from the Otago Regiment, to be Lieutenant, 1st Battalion, with seniority as from the 16th May, 1925. Dated 14th May, 1928.

2nd Lieutenant W. C. J. Perry, 1st C. Battalion, is transferred to the Auckland Regiment (Countess of Ranfurly’s Own). Dated 7th May, 1928.

2nd Lieutenant J. te H. Grace, from the Auckland Regiment (Countess of Ranfurly’s Own), to be 2nd Lieutenant, 1st Battalion, with seniority as from the 21st November, 1927. Dated 15th May, 1928.

Ernest Walter Hayton to be 2nd Lieutenant (on probation), and seconded for duty with the 2nd C. Battalion. Dated 16th May, 1928.

The Hawke’s Bay Regiment.

Philip Ruston, M.M., to be Lieutenant, and seconded for duty with the 1st C. Battalion. Dated 1st April, 1928.

The Canterbury Regiment.

Lieutenant W. G. Corbett, 6th C. Battalion, is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class I (b), R.D. 10. Dated 15th May, 1928.

Lieutenant C. R. Russ, from the Otago Regiment, to be Lieutenant, with seniority as from the 3rd September, 1926, and is seconded for duty with the 4th C. Battalion. Dated 15th May, 1928.
