SCHEDULE.
AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.
THIRD-CLASS LAND.
Kawhia County.—Kawhia North Survey District.
SECTION 3, Block IV: Area, 502 acres 2 roods. Capital
value, £315. Deposit on deferred payments: £15; half-
yearly instalment, £9 15s. Renewable lease: Half-yearly
rent, £6 6s.
Weighted with £110, valuation for improvements comprising
felling and grassing, three-roomed whare (in poor condition),
and about 30 chains fencing. Repayable in cash or by a
deposit of £25, the balance to remain on instalment mortgage
for a term of ten years with interest at the rate of 5½ per cent.,
repayable by half-yearly payments, including principal
and interest, of £5 11s. 8d.
Grazing property, situated about nine and a half miles
from Oparau Landing (where there is a dairy factory and
school), and thirty-five miles from Te Kawa Railway-station.
Oparau is connected with Kawhia by a launch service. About
140 acres have been felled and grassed, but are now mostly
reverted to second growth; the balance being in standing
bush.
Section 9, Block IV: Area, 539 acres. Capital value,
£340. Deposit on deferred payments, £20; half-yearly
instalment, £10 8s. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent,
£6 16s.
Weighted with £650, valuation for improvements com-
prising iron whare and about 190 chains fencing, and felling
and grassing. Repayable in cash or by a deposit of £50;
the balance to be secured by instalment mortgage over a term
of twenty years, interest 5½ per cent., repayable by half-
yearly instalments of principal and interest combined amount-
ing to £24 18s. 6d.
Grazing property situated about eight miles from Oparau
on the Kawhia Harbour, where there is a school and post-
office. Hilly to broken country with small flats suitable
for homestead-site. About 200 acres have been felled and
grassed, now mostly reverted to second growth; balance
about 339 acres in fairly heavy bush comprising rimu, rata,
tawa, tawhero, kohekohe, &c., with thick undergrowth
of supplejack and scrub. Section lies well to the sun. Soil
light loam on sandstone formation; well watered. A formed
road runs past the property.
SECOND-CLASS LAND.
Otorohanga County.—Mangaorongo Survey District.
Section 11, Block X: Area, 394 acres. Capital value,
£395. Deposit on deferred payments: £15; half-yearly
instalment, £12 7s. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent,
£7 18s.
Weighted with £90, valuation for improvements comprising
four-roomed dwelling, shed, and cow-shed, payable in cash,
or to an approved selector, on such terms as may be arranged
with the State Advances Superintendent.
Situated on the Otewa Road, about nine miles from Otoro-
hanga Railway-station, dairy factory, and saleyards, by
metalled road for eight miles; balance formed clay road.
The Otewa School and post-office are three miles distant.
About 250 acres have been felled and grassed, but have
now reverted; the balance being in standing bush comprising
tawa, rata, kahikatea, tawhero, and rewarewa, with a light
undergrowth of supplejack and punga. The soil is a medium
quality loam on sandstone and rubble formation. Well
watered by springs and Waipa River.
THIRD-CLASS LAND.
Raglan County.—Karioi Survey District.
Sections 7 and 8, Block XI: Area, 1,086 acres. Capital
value, £545. Deposit on deferred payments: £25; half-
yearly instalment, £16 18s. Renewable lease: Half-yearly
rent, £10 18s.
Weighted with £300, valuation for improvements comprising
two whares, shearing-shed, sheep and cattle yards, approxi-
mately 300 chains fencing, and felling and grassing. Repay-
able in cash, or by a deposit of £25; the balance to remain
on instalment mortgage for a term of fifteen years. Interest
5½ per cent., repayable by half-yearly instalments of
£13 11s. 7d., comprising both principal and interest.
Grazing property situated about twenty-five miles from
Frankton Junction Railway-station, and four and a half
miles from Kaharoa School. Hilly to broken country. About
530 acres felled and grassed (now mostly reverted to second
growth); balance about 556 acres in heavy mixed forest
comprising rimu, rata, tawa, kohekohe, &c., with thick
undergrowth of supplejack and shrubs. Watered by springs
and creeks. Soil sandy loam on sandstone formation.
Rotorua County.—Waihi South Survey District.
Sections 2 and 9, Block XI: Area, 1,371 acres 3 roods
9 perches. Capital value, £600. Deposit on deferred pay-
ments, £30; half-yearly instalment, £18 10s. 6d. Renewable
able lease : Half-yearly rent, £12.
Weighted with £81 10s., valuation for improvements
comprising 220 chains fencing (requires renewing) and shed
(12 ft. by 12 ft.). Payable in cash or on such terms as may
be arranged to an approved selector.
Situated about nine miles from Pikowai Railway-station,
thirteen miles from Rotoma Post-office, and five miles from
Forrest Gate School. The Te Puke Dairy Factory is thirty
miles distant. About 50 acres level; balance broken pumice
land in fern and tea-tree. Well watered by running streams.

Opening Lands in the North Auckland Land District for Selection
on Renewable Lease.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities
conferred on me by the Land Act, 1924, I, General
Sir Charles Fergusson, Baronet, Governor-General of the
Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the lands
described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for selection
on renewable lease on Monday, the thirtieth day of July,
one thousand nine hundred and twenty-eight, at the rentals
mentioned in the said Schedule; and I do also declare that
the said lands shall be leased under and subject to the pro-
visions of the said Act.
SCHEDULE.
NORTH AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.—NATIONAL ENDOWMENT.
FIRST-CLASS LAND.
Waitemata County.—Waipareira Parish.
SECTIONS 259 and 261: Area, 25 acres 0 roods 26 perches.
Capital value, £230. Half-yearly rent, £4 12s.
Situated about five miles from Henderson Railway-station.
About two and three-quarter miles of the access road is
metalled, the balance being formed clay road. Undulating
to broken country, all ploughable, with scrub in places.
Fairly well watered by swampy stream. Soil varies from
fair to poor clay. Altitude, 150 ft. to 200 ft. above sea-level.
SECOND-CLASS LAND.
Mangonui County.—Takahue Survey District.
Section 26, Block X: Area, 306 acres 1 rood 8 perches.
Capital value, £150. Half-yearly rent, £3.
Weighted with £650, valuation for improvements con-
sisting of rimu house (four rooms, lean-to, veranda, orbstove,
iron chimney), cow-shed (iron roof) 4 bails and engine-room,
and 210 chains of fencing (in fair order generally). Of this
amount £50 must be paid in cash, and the balance secured
by instalment mortgage for twenty years, with interest at
5 per cent. per annum to New Zealand discharged soldiers,
and 5½ per cent. to others.
Situated four miles from Takahue Post-office, and thirteen
miles from Kaitaia, ten miles metalled road, two miles formed,
one mile only partly formed. Country level to easy un-
dulating; about 60 acres being bush land felled and grassed.
Soil generally of poor quality clay resting on sandstone.
Well watered by running stream.
