Grazing property, situated about fifteen miles from Hangatiki Railway-station, ten miles and a half from Waitomo Caves School, post-office and store, and twenty-two miles from Otorohanga Saleyards. Approximately 700 acres bush land, felled and grassed, most of which has now reverted to second growth; the balance being standing bush. There is a little ragwort and blackberry on the section. Well watered by running streams.
Waitomo County.—Whareorino Survey District.
Section 1, Block VIII, and Section 1, Block XI: Area, 814 acres 2 roods. Capital value, £410. Deposit on deferred payments, £20; half-yearly instalment, £12 13s. 6d. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £8 4s.
Weighted with £31, valuation for improvements comprising about 124 chains fencing; payable in cash.
Situated on the Waikawau Road about twenty-one miles from Awakino store, post-office, and saleyards, by metalled road for nineteen miles and a half; balance formed clay road. There is a household school at Waikawau, two miles and a half distant. Steep and broken country. About 350 acres has been felled and grassed, but has now reverted to second growth; the balance being in heavy bush comprising tawa, rimu, with tawhero and rewarewa on the higher spurs, with a thick undergrowth of supplejack, punga, &c. The soil is a light loam on rubble formation, well watered by springs and running streams.

Opening Land in the Auckland Land District for Selection on Renewable Lease.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred on me by the Land Act, 1924, I, General Sir Charles Fergusson, Baronet, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the land described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for selection on renewable lease on Friday, the twenty-fifth day of May, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-eight, at the rental mentioned in the said Schedule; and I do also declare that the said land shall be leased under and subject to the provisions of the said Act.
SCHEDULE.
AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.—NATIONAL ENDOWMENT.
THIRD-CLASS LAND.
Rotorua County.—Waiki South Survey District.
SECTION 10, Block IX: Area, 693 acres 1 rood 33 perches. Capital value, £250. Half-yearly rent, £5.
Weighted with £100, valuation for improvements comprising 145 chains fencing, two-roomed whare, and stockyard. Repayable in cash or by a deposit of £10; the balance to be secured by instalment mortgage over a term of ten years. Interest 5½ per cent. Half-yearly instalment, including principal and interest, £5 18s. 4d.
Situated about twenty-two miles from Te Puke Dairy Factory and ten miles from Pongakawa Railway-station and school. Access is by formed but unmetalled road. About thirty-five acres in worn-out pasture; balance being undulating to hilly land in fern and tea-tree. There is a little ragwort. Pumice soil generally of inferior quality. Watered by Pongakawa Stream.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1924, and the amendments thereof, I, General Sir Charles Fergusson, Baronet, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare and provide as follows, this is to say:—

The rural land enumerated in the Schedule hereto is hereby set apart for disposal by way of sale or selection on Friday, the twenty-fifth day of May, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-eight, at the price specified in the said Schedule, and shall be deemed to be “heavy bush land.”

The said land may be purchased for cash or on deferred payments, or be selected on renewable lease.

After the first half-year’s rent, or the deposit fixed under deferred payments, as the case may be, has been paid by the selector the further instalments of rent, or such part of the aforesaid instalments as consist of interest payable by him for a period of four years shall not be demanded; provided that if at any time during the first five years of his occupancy the selector disposes of his interest in the land, the rent or interest so conceded shall be paid by him in full, and thereupon the Land Board may remit such instalments of rent or interest payable by the incoming tenant, not exceeding in the aggregate the amount previously conceded to the selector, as the Board shall think fit.

Weighted with £73 15s. valuation for improvements comprising cisterns, 135 chains of fencing, and four-roomed house (in poor condition). Payable in cash.
Situated about seven miles by formed clay road from Ngongotaha Railway-station and dairy factory and one mile from Kaharoa School.
Approximately 100 acres in worn-out pasture; the balance being in standing bush. Blackberry and ragwort prevalent. Watered by concrete cisterns.

Lands temporarily reserved in the Westland Land District.

WHEREAS by the three-hundred-and-fifty-ninth section of the Land Act, 1924, it is enacted that the Governor-General may from time to time, either by general or particular description, and whether the same has been surveyed or not, reserve from sale temporarily, notwithstanding that the same may be then held under pastoral license, any Crown lands which in his opinion are required for any of the purposes in the said section mentioned:
Now, therefore, I, General Sir Charles Fergusson, Baronet, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the said Act, do hereby temporarily reserve from sale the lands in the Westland Land District described in the Schedule hereunder written, for the purposes in the said Schedule specified at the end of the respective descriptions of the lands so intended to be temporarily reserved.
SCHEDULE.
ALL that area in the Westland Land District containing by admeasurement 0·74 perches, more or less, situated in Block I, Punakaiki Survey District, and bounded towards the north by Crown land, 12·9 links; towards the west by the Greymouth-Westport Road, 73·1 links; and towards the east by School Reserve 972, 72 links: be all the aforesaid linkages a little more or less. As the same is delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 4701A, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon coloured blue. (For an addition to a site for a public school.)
All that area in the Westland Land District, containing by admeasurement 1 rood 21 perches, more or less, situated in Block I, Punakaiki Survey District, and bounded, in one part, towards the north-east by Reserve 186, 100·1 links; towards the south-east by Section 3243, 323·6 links; towards the south by School Reserve 972 and Crown land, a total distance of 112·9 links; towards the west by the Greymouth-Westport Road, 60·7 links; again towards the north-east and towards the north-west by Gravel Reserve 1090, 31·8 and 366·2 links respectively; and in the other part bounded towards the north-east by Reserve 186, 37·1 links; towards the south-east by Gravel Reserve 1090, 56·4 links; and towards the west by the Greymouth-Westport Road, 67·5 links: be all the aforesaid linkages a little more or less. As the same is delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 4701B, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon edged red. (For gravel purposes.)
