SECOND SCHEDULE.

Areas, in addition to those referred to in condition No. 3, excepted from the “pen season wherein imported game and native game shall not be taken or killed:—

All that area in the North Auckland Land District, being Lots 141, 191, 184, 185, 188, and 187, those portions of Lots 188 and 189 lying within a distance of 40 chains from the nearest point of Lot 141, all of Kawakawa Parish; together with Oropa No. 2b Nook, Te Moke Block, containing 302 acres, and part of Tiakapara Block, containing 71 acres 3 roods, both adjoining the before-mentioned land, all situated in Block XII, Kawakawa Survey District.

All that area, being Lots 168, 169, and 170, Parish of Kawakawa, containing 447 acres, the property of Richard Augustus Hall.

Also all those areas situate in Hukerenui Survey District, being Section 79, Block V, and Section 6, Block I, containing 184 acres 2 roods 25 perches, Section 73 and 74, Block V, containing 100 acres, the property of J. and C. Smith, and Sections 4 and 5, Block I, containing 380 acres, the property of J. P. Keogh, and Section 8, Block I, containing 571 acres 3 roods 21 perches, being Crown land.

All those areas situate in Block XV, Kawakawa Survey District, comprising part Section 140, Block XV, Kawakawa Survey District, containing 167 acres 1 rood 24 perches, part Waipuna Block, containing 373 acres 2 roods 17 perches, Taumataumaukuku No. 1, 196 acres 2 roods 30 perches, Section 45, Kawakawa Parish, 40 acres, Sections 47, 48, 49, and 50, Kawakawa Parish, 160 acres, Lot part 1, 2, 3 on D.P. 12753 of 140 of Block XV, Kawakawa Survey District, and part Waipuna Block, containing 499 acres 3 roods 9 perches, the property of the Auckland Farmers Freezing Co., Ltd.

Also all those areas in Blocks IV and VIII, Omapere Survey District, comprising Whakataha 3b 2, 107 acres 3 roods 25 perches; Whakataha 3b 3, 116 acres; Whakataha 3b 4, 213 acres; Tapapanui A 10b part, 188 acres; Tapapanui C, Block VIII, Omapere, 112 acres; Patito-Tapapanui A 10a, Omapere, 28 acres; Patito-Tapapanui A 7a, Omapere, 50 acres.

Also all that area situate as aforesaid, being Lots 64, 65, 68, and 69, Te Karae Block, situate in Blocks I and II, Mangamuka Survey District.

Also Sections 36, 37, 38, 39, and 41, Blocks I and IV, Mangamuku Survey District.

Also all those areas comprising the Town Districts of Kawakawa, Kaikohe, Kohukolu, Rawene, and Russell.

Open Season for Imported Game and Native Game, License Fees, &c., Buller Acclimatization District.

IN exercise of the powers vested in me by the Animals Protection and Game Act, 1921-22, I, Maui Pomare, Acting Minister of Internal Affairs of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare the period from the 1st day of May to the 31st day of July, 1928 (both days inclusive), to be an open season in the Buller Acclimatization District, as described in the Schedule hereto (except in the areas referred to in condition No. 3), for the taking or killing of the following imported game and native game—viz., hares and grey duck; and the period from the 1st day of January to the 31st day of March, 1929 (both days inclusive), for the taking or killing of the following native game—viz., godwits—subject to the following conditions.

CONDITIONS.

1. Licenses to take or kill such imported game and native game, including godwits, within the said district will be issued to any person on payment of the sum of twenty shillings (20s.) each, and licenses to take or kill the following native game only —viz., godwits—will be issued to any person on payment of the sum of ten shillings (10s.) each, and the Secretary of the Buller Acclimatization Society or any person authorized by such Secretary in that behalf is hereby authorized to sign and issue the said licenses.

2. The number of such imported game and native game that may be taken or killed by any one person in any one day shall not exceed ten head of grey duck and fifteen head of hares.

3. Nothing in any license to take or kill imported game and native game shall authorize the holder thereof to take or kill imported game and native game, including godwits, or the following native game only—viz., godwits—on lands actually and exclusively used by any registered acclimatization society for acclimatization purposes, or on any sanctuary or public domain.

4. No person shall kill or destroy or shoot at or attempt to shoot at any such imported game or native game, with any automatic or auto-loading gun, unless it is converted into a gun capable of carrying two cartridges only, or with any rifle or pea-rifle, swivel-gun, punt-gun, or pump-gun, or shall use any gun other than a shoulder-gun; and no gun shall be used for the purpose aforesaid the bore of which is larger than the size known as No. 12 at the muzzle, nor shall any gun be used which exceeds 10 lb. in weight.

5. Shooting may begin not earlier than one hour before sunrise and must cease not later than one hour after sunset.

6. No live birds of any species shall be used as decoys, nor shall more than twenty-five artificial decoys be used at any one time (whether by one or several persons) on any particular water within an area of less than 100 yards, square.

7. No person shall use any power-boat or launch in the taking or killing of native game.

8. Any person committing a breach of any of these conditions is liable, on conviction, to a fine of £20.

SCHEDULE.

All that area in the Nelson and Westland Land Districts bounded towards the north-west generally by a line starting at a point on the Tasman Sea coast at Kohaihai Bluff in Block XIII, Whakapoi Survey District, and proceeding up a leading spur and along the summit of a range over Mount Domett to Mount Cobb; thence towards the north-east generally by a line along the summit of the western ranges over Mount Snowden and Mount Peel to Mount Arthur; thence towards the south-east by a line along the summit of a leading range over Mount Luna and along the summit of Lyell Range to Bald Hill; thence by a line down a leading spur on the western side of Eight-mile or Boundary Stream to the mouth of that stream; thence down the left bank of the Buller River and up the right bank of the Inangahua River to a point due north of Mount Haast; thence by a right, line to Mount Haast: thence by a right line to the nearest point of the Grey River; thence towards the south-west generally by a line down the middle of the Grey River to its confluence with the Otututu River; thence by a line up the middle of the Otututu River to its source near Mount Faraday; thence by a right line to Mount Faraday; thence towards the south-east by a line along the summit of the Paparoa Range to a point near the source of the Punakaiki or Deadman’s River; thence towards the south-west generally by a right line to that source and by a line down the middle of that river to the sea; thence towards the north-west by the Tasman Sea to Kohaihai Bluff, the place of commencement.
