Grazing property situated about six miles from Otorohanga Railway-station, school, post-office, and saleyards, by metalled road for two miles; balance formed clay road. Undulating to broken country, of which about 120 acres have been felled and grassed, but are now reverted; the balance being in fern and scrub. There is a little light bush comprising rewarewa, tawhero, &c., with a light undergrowth of punga, rangiora, and fern. The soil is of a medium quality on clay and limestone formation. Well watered by running streams.
Waitomo County.—Kawhia South Survey District.
Section 1, Block XV: Area, 815 acres. Capital value, £615. Deposit on deferred payments, £25; half-yearly instalment, £19 3s. 6d. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £12 6s.
Weighted with £175, valuation for improvements, comprising stumping and approximately 300 chains of fencing. Repayable in cash or by a deposit of £70, the balance to be payable over a term of five years by ten half-yearly payments of £12 2s. 7d.
Situated on the Tawarau Road, about twenty-five miles from Te Kuiti by metalled road for twenty-three miles; balance formed clay road. There is a school at Waitanguru, six miles distant, and post-office at Ngapaenga, two miles distant. Abour 600 acres has been felled and grassed, now reverted; the balance being in standing bush, comprising tawa, rimu, rata, puketea, &c., with a dense undergrowth of supplejack and punga. The soil is of medium quality on clay and limestone formation. Well watered by running streams.

Otorohanga County.—Mangaorongo Survey District.
Sections 4 and 5, Block XV: Area, 190 acres 3 roods 6·7 perches. Capital value, £95. Deposit on deferred payments, £5; half-yearly instalment, £2 18s. 6d. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £1 18s.
Weighted with £140, valuation for improvements comprising dwelling of four rooms, shed (27 ft. by 10 ft.; iron roof, shingle sides), about 50 chains fencing and grassing. Repayable in cash or may remain on instalment mortgage to the State Advances Superintendent for a term of twenty years; interest, 6 per cent.
Situated on the Tauraroa Road, about eleven miles from Otorohanga Railway-station, dairy factory, and saleyards by metalled road for eight miles, balance formed clay road. The nearest school and post-office are situated at Otewa, about six miles distant. Section is undulating to broken. About 15 acres have been felled and grassed, but have now reverted; 15 acres are in light bush comprising tawa, rewarewa, tawhero, &c., the balance, with the exception of 5½ acres river flat, being open country in fern and tea-tree. The soil is of a medium quality on rhyolite formation. Section is poorly watered.
Waitomo County.—Maungamaungero Survey District.
Section 5, Block II: Area, 808 acres. Capital value, £400. Deposit on deferred payments, £20; half-yearly instalment, £12 7s. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £8.
Weighted with £320, valuation for improvements consisting of iron whare (15 ft. by 9 ft.), yards, 300 chains fencing, and felling and grassing. Payable in cash or may remain on instalment mortgage to the State Advances Superintendent for a term of thirty years. Interest, 6 per cent.
Grazing property situated on Te Kuiti—Marakopa Road, about thirty-two miles by metalled road from Te Kuiti, where the nearest saleyards, post-office, and store are situated. The nearest school is at Waitanguru, seven miles distant. Section comprises broken country, about half covered with heavy tawa, rimu, and rata bush, with a dense undergrowth of supplejack and punga. Balance has been felled and grassed, but has now reverted to second growth. Light soil of inferior quality on rubble formation. Well watered by running streams.

Opening Lands in Nelson Land District for Selection on Renewable Lease.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred on me by the Land Act, 1924, I, General Sir Charles Fergusson, Baronet, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for selection on renewable lease on Tuesday, the seventeenth day of April, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-eight, at the rentals mentioned in the said Schedule; and I do also declare that the said lands shall be leased under and subject to the provisions of the said Act.

NELSON LAND DISTRICT.
THIRD-CLASS LAND.
Murchison County.—Tutaki Survey District.
National Endowment.
SECTION 7, Block I: Area, 301 acres 1 rood 20 perches. Capital value, £90. Half-yearly rent, £1 16s.
Weighted with £50, valuation for improvements, which sum may be taken over on mortgage to the Superintendent, State Advances Office.
Situated one mile from Murchison School and dairy factory. About 140 acres have been felled and grassed, but is now reverting to fern; balance birch bush. Well watered.
Improvements.—Improvements consist of felling and grassing about 140 acres, 20 chains fencing, whare, and cowshed.
SECOND-CLASS LAND.
Buller County.—Kongahu Survey District.
National Endowment.
Section 2, Block V: Area, 792 acres. Capital value, £300. Half-yearly rent, £6.
Improvements, included in capital value, consist of half-acre in orchard and shelter trees, 96 acres felled and grassed (66 acres of which is in dense second growth), 45 chains fencing, three-roomed dwelling, and cowshed.
Situated thirteen miles from Seddonville, one mile and a half from Corbyvale School and post-office, by good road. All bushclad, with exception of felled area. Well watered. General quality, poor.
THIRD-CLASS LAND.
Takaka County.—Takaka Survey District.
National Endowment.
Section 7, Block VIII: Area, 878 acres. Capital value, £330. Half-yearly rent, £6 12s.
Weighted with £318, valuation for improvements, payable in cash or by deferred payments. Deposit required, £50.
Situated in the Canaan Block, on the Takaka Hills, six miles and a half from main road by formed four-foot track. The greater part of section is very broken limestone outcrop formation. Soil of fair quality. About 770 acres in mixed bush; balance felled and grassed. Well watered by permanent streams and two small lakes.
Improvements.—Improvements consist of 77 acres felled and grassed, 30 acres fallen (not yet burnt), 41 chains fencing, three-roomed whare.
SECOND-CLASS LAND.
Murchison County.—Maruia Survey District.
(Crown Land.—Exempt from Rent for Ten Years.)
Section 2, Block VIII: Area, 514 acres. Capital value, £195. Half-yearly rent, £3 18s.
Weighted with £120, valuation for improvements. Payment for these improvements may be either in cash or by deferred payments. If payable on deferred payments, a cash deposit of £20 is required immediately an applicant is declared successful, and the balance of purchase-money is to be secured by instalment mortgage extending over a period not exceeding twenty-four and a half years, and bearing interest at 5 per cent. in the case of a discharged soldier and 5½ per cent. in every other.
NOTE.—The rent exemption for ten years applies to the rent payable under the lease only, and no exemption is given in respect of payments falling due under the mortgage.
Situated in Maruia Valley, about twelve miles and a half from Murchison, via Maruia Valley, or seven miles via Doughboy Track. Property adjoins school, and is one mile from telephone-office. Good metalled road. About 40 acres flat; balance hilly. Well watered.
Improvements.—Improvements consist of 130 acres of bush land felled and grassed, becoming overgrown with fern. Eighty chains of fencing, subdivided into four paddocks. One-roomed whare.
