Opening Settlement Land in Auckland Land District for Selection.

CHARLES FERGUSSON, Governor-General.

I N pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1924, and the Land for Settlements Act, 1925, I, General Sir Charles Fergusson, Baronet, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the settlement land described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for selection on renewable lease on Friday, the twenty-seventh day of April, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-eight, at the rental mentioned in the said Schedule; and I do also declare that the said land shall be leased under and subject to the provisions of the said Acts.

SCHEDULE.

AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.--SETTLEMENT LAND.--FIRST-CLASS LAND.

Hauraki Plains County.--Orongo Settlement.

SECTION 37: Area, 73 acres 3 roods 26 perches. Capital value, £590. Half-yearly rent, £14 15s.

Situated on the Waihou River, about four miles from Turua Township. Access to the Kopu Railway-station, which is about one mile distant, is by ferry, but a bridge is now in course of construction across the Waihou River. The section comprises level land, covered in fescue.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this 20th day of February, 1928.

Opening Lands in Nelson Land District for Selection.

I N pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1924, I, General Sir Charles Fergusson, Baronet, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare and provide as follows, that is to say:

The rural lands enumerated in the Schedule hereto are hereby set apart for selection on renewable lease on Tuesday, the seventeenth day of April, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-eight, at the rentals specified in the said Schedule, and shall be deemed to be heavy-bush lands.

After the first half-year's rent has been paid by the selector the further instalments of rent payable by him for period of three years shall not be demanded; provided that if at any time during the first five years of his occupancy the selector disposes of his interest in the land the rent so conceded shall be paid by him in full, and thereupon the Land Board may remit such instalments of rent payable by the incoming tenant, not exceeding in the aggregate the amount of rent previously conceded to the selector, as the Board thinks fit.

SCHEDULE.

NELSON LAND DISTRICT.--SECOND-CLASS LAND.

Takaka County.--Waitapu Survey District.

(National Endowment.--Exempt from Rent for Three Years.)

SECTION 21, Block IX: Area, 238 acres. Capital value, £70. Half-yearly rent, £1 8s.

Weighted with £10, valuation for improvements consisting of 20 chains fencing, payable in cash.

Situated in West Takaka, six miles distant by good road. Approximately 75 acres in bush; balance in fern, manuka, and second growth. Section is broken and part is semi pakihi. Poor soil on clay formation. Well watered.

Section 14, Block XI: Area, 204 acres 3 roods. Capital value, £105. Half-yearly rent, £2 2s.

Situated on the extreme north of the Pikikaruna Range. Access from Clifton, five miles distant, by two miles good road, thence pack track. Broken hilly country, no flat land, covered with birch bush. Soil of medium quality on granite formation. Altitude, 2,000 ft. above sea-level. Well watered.

THIRD-CLASS LAND.

Waimea County.--Motueka Survey District.

(Crown Land.--Exempt from Rent for Three Years.)

Section 11, Block VI: Area, 169 acres 3 roods. Capital value, £50. Half-yearly rent, £1.

Situat ed at Pangatotara, a short distance up the Rocky River. Access from Motueka, about eight miles and a half distant by road. Approximately 75 acres in bush; balance manuka, fern, gorse, &c. Soil of very poor quality. Section is very broken. Well watered.

SECTION 13, Block VI : Area, 1,650 acres. Capital value, £620. Half-yearly rent, £12 8s.

Weighted with £209 5s., valuation for improvements consisting of 65 acres felled and grassed and 19 chains fencing; payable in cash.

Situated in Awaroa Bay, eighteen miles from Takaka by fair road. All bushclad with the exception of 65 acres felled and grassed. Section generally consists of broken country with soil of poor quality. Bush consists principally of birch, with rimu in the gullies, and a little white pine. Well watered by permanent streams.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this 20th day of February, 1928.

I N pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1924, I, General Sir Charles Fergusson, Baronet, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, having received the report of the Under-Secretary in this behalf, as provided by section one hundred and seventy-six of the said Act, do hereby declare that the lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale or selection on Friday, the twenty-seventh day of April, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-eight, and also that the lands mentioned in the said Schedule may, at the option of the applicant, be purchased for cash or on deferred payments, or be selected on renewable lease; and I do hereby also fix the prices at which the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased as those mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased under and subject to the provisions of the Land Act, 1924.

Waitomo County.--Orahiri Survey District.

SECTION 1, Block XI : Area, 443 acres 0 roods 32 perches. Capital value, £335. Deposit on deferred payments, £15; half-yearly instalment, £10 8s. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £6 14s.
