SCHEDULE.
ALL that area in the Otago Land District containing by admeasurement 1 acre, more or less, being Sections 12, 13, 14, and 15, Block III, Town of Alexandra, and bounded as follows: Towards the north-east by Sections 8, 9, 10, and 11, Block III, 400 links; towards the south-east by Dunorling Street, 250 links; towards the south-west by Ventry Street, 400 links; and towards the north-west by Section 16, Block III, 250 links.
Also all that area in the Otago Land District containing by admeasurement 1 acre 1 rood, more or less, being Sections 12, 13, 14, 15, and 16, Block VI, Town of Alexandra, and bounded as follows: Towards the north-east by Sections 7, 8, 9, 10, and 11, Block VI, 500 links; towards the south-east by Shannon Street, 250 links; towards the south-west by Ventry Street, 500 links; and towards the north-west by Section 17, Block VI, 250 links: Be all the aforesaid linkages more or less; as the same are more particularly shown on the plan marked L. and S. 6/6/502, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.

Opening Settlement Land in Canterbury Land District for Selection.

CHARLES FERGUSSON, Governor-General.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1924, and the Land for Settlements Act, 1925, I, General Sir Charles Fergusson, Baronet, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the settlement land described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for selection on renewable lease on Saturday, the tenth day of March, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-eight, at the rental mentioned in the said Schedule; and I do also declare that the said land shall be leased under and subject to the provisions of the said Acts.

SCHEDULE.
CANTERBURY LAND DISTRICT.—SETTLEMENT LAND.—
FIRST-CLASS LAND.
Mackenzie County.—Opua Survey District.—Ashwick Settlement.
SECTION 6, Block XIII: Area, 752 acres. Capital value, £4,600. Half-yearly rent, £115.
Weighted with £845, valuation for improvements, consisting of dwellinghouse, other buildings, fencing, grassing, planting, &c., payable by £50 in cash and by successful applicant giving a first mortgage over the lease to the State Advances Superintendent for £245, the balance of £550 to be made repayable by forty-two half-yearly instalments of £21 9s.
Remission of rent as under will be granted to the successful applicant, provided improvements are effected to the satisfaction of the Land Board to at least the value of the amount of rent so remitted: At the end of one year and a half from the commencement of the lease, one year’s rent will be remitted. At the end of two years and a half from the commencement of the lease, a further half-year’s rent will be remitted. At the end of three years and a half from the commencement of the lease, a further half-year’s rent will be remitted.
Situated seven miles from Fairlie Railway-station, one mile from Kimbell School. Sheep-grazing land. About 300 acres flat, balance ranging to 1,900 ft. Should carry 700 ewes and a few cattle. Turnips can be grown on 250 acres and oats on 100 acres. Subdivided into twelve paddocks.

IN pursuance of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by section one hundred and thirty-two of the Land Act, 1924, I, General Sir Charles Fergusson, Baronet, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby appoint Friday, the sixteenth day of March, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-eight, as the time at which the lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be sold by public auction for cash or on deferred payments; and I hereby fix the prices at which the said lands shall be sold as those mentioned in the said Schedule hereto.

Sections 16, 17, 18, and 19 are situated on the Main Coast Road (Tokomaru-Tikitiki), about twenty chains from the Ruatoria Post-office. Good business-sites.
Sections 20–27 are on the Ruatoria–Tuparoa Road, about thirty chains from the Ruatoria Post-office.
The sections are well drained; good residential-sites.

Appointing a Member of the Main Highways Board.

CHARLES FERGUSSON, Governor-General.
WHEREAS by a Warrant dated the seventh day of April, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-four, and published in Gazette No. 22 of the tenth day of April, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-four, Percy Sawtell Waldie, of Wellington, Chief Clerk of the Public Works Department, was appointed a member of the Main Highways Board in terms of subsection three, clause (a), of section five of the Main Highways Act, 1922:
And whereas the said Percy Sawtell Waldie died on the eighth day of September, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-seven:
Now, therefore, I, General Sir Charles Fergusson, Baronet, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the Main Highways Act, 1922, and of all other powers and authorities enabling me in this behalf, do hereby appoint
John James Gibson, of Wellington, Accountant in the Public Works Department,
to be a member of the Main Highways Board in terms of the said subsection three, clause (a), of section five of the Main Highways Act, 1922.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this 9th day of February, 1928.
