Apportioning Amounts payable to various Acclimatization Societies for Opossums taken in their Districts.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this 21st day of December, 1927.

Present:

THE RIGHT HONOURABLE J. G. COATES, P.C., PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon him by the Animals Protection and Game Act, 1921–22, and of all other powers and authorities enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby provide and declare that the sum of four thousand one hundred and ninety-six pounds eleven shillings and fourpence, being the amount received in the undermentioned acclimatization districts by way of fines, together with half the net revenue derived from fees and royalty with respect to the taking of opossums, shall be paid to the acclimatization societies of such districts in the amounts set opposite the name of each respectively.

Constituting the Banks Peninsula Rabbit District.—Notice No. Ag. 2699.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House at Wellington, this 21st day of December, 1927.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by section sixty-nine of the Rabbit Nuisance Act, 1908 (hereinafter termed “the said Act”), as amended by the Rabbit Nuisance Amendment Act, 1918, it is provided that the Governor-General may from time to time, by Order in Council gazetted, on petition in that behalf from a majority of the ratepayers therein, constitute and declare any part of New Zealand defined in such Order in Council a district for the purposes of Part III of the said Act:

And whereas a petition in accordance with the provisions of the said Act has been received, asking that the lands described in the Schedule hereto be constituted and declared a rabbit district for the purposes of Part III of the said Act:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred on him by the said Act and its amendments, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby constitute by the specific name of the “Banks Peninsula Rabbit District,” and declare that part of New Zealand defined in the Schedule hereto to be a district for the purposes of Part III of the said Act; and doth hereby further declare that the Board of Trustees shall in terms of the said Act consist of seven members.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that parcel of land commencing at a point at the “Head of the Bay,” Port Lyttelton, the same being at the head of the inlet in Rural Section 748; thence easterly in a straight line to the road forming the north-western boundary of the said section; thence along that road and the Gebbie’s Pass Road to the easternmost corner of Rural Section 4626; thence north-westerly along the road forming the eastern boundary of Rural Sections 4626, 3638, 23221, to the easternmost corner of Rural Section 30434; thence south-westerly along the eastern boundary of the said section and Section 32581 to the road forming the south-easterly boundary of that section; thence south-westerly along that road to a point in line with the eastern boundary of Rural Section 22726; thence south-westerly along the eastern boundary of the last-mentioned section to the Ahuriri Bush Road; and thence south-westerly along that road to its junction with the Ahuriri Saddle Road; thence again south-westerly along a line intersecting Rural Section 1069 to the River Halswell; thence again south-westerly to the easternmost corner of Reserve 3093; thence along the eastern boundary of that reserve to the Akaroa main road; thence following the latter road easterly to the road leading to the Motukarara Creamery; thence along this road south-westerly and the road forming the western boundary of Rural Section 2443 and Recreation Reserve 2585; thence along that road south-westerly to the road on the eastern side of the new Halswell Canal; thence following southerly along that road and the road along the left bank of the River Halswell to Lake Ellesmere; thence southerly and south-westerly in a straight line across the said lake to Tau-mutu at the site of the present outfall-culvert across the shingle spit; thence following the line of the said culvert to the ocean; thence northerly and north-easterly along the ocean to the outfall of Lake Forsyth; thence easterly along the shingle bank at the southern shore of Lake Forsyth to its junction with the southernmost corner of Section No. 14 of Kinloch Settlement; thence along the ocean to include those parts of the Wairewa, Akaroa, and Mount Herbert Counties to Lyttelton Harbour; thence along the said harbour to the inlet known as “Head of the Bay,” the place of commencement: save and except thereout the lands comprised within the boundaries of the Borough of Akaroa.

Regulations under the Counties Act, 1920, and its Amendments, respecting Rates of Travelling-allowances to Members of County Councils.

IN pursuance and exercise of the power and authority conferred on him by the Counties Act, 1920, and its amendments, and by section twelve of the Acts Interpretation Act, 1924, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby make the following regulations prescribing the rate of travelling-allowance that a County Council may make to each of its members to cover all charges in respect of his attendance at any meeting of the Council or of any Committee thereof, or in respect of his attending to any business of the Council when authorized so to do by the Council; and doth declare that such regulations shall come into force on the first day of January, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-eight.

REGULATIONS.

  1. THESE regulations may be cited as “The Counties Travelling-allowance Regulations, 1927.”

  2. In these regulations, where not inconsistent with the context,—

“The said Act” means the Counties Act, 1920, and its amendments:

“Business of the Council” does not include any business other than business authorized by the said Act or any other Act to be performed by a member and transacted by such member pursuant to a resolution of the Council.
