Now, therefore, I, General Sir Charles Fergusson, Baronet, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred by the Acts aforesaid, do hereby set apart the primary-education endowment described in the Schedule hereto as a site for a public school (Pohokura).

SCHEDULE.

TARANAKI LAND DISTRICT.

SUBSECTION 1 of Section 7, Block IV, Ngatimaru Survey District: Area, 3 acres.

Vesting the Control of a Scenic Reserve in the Waipukurau Borough Council.

CHARLES FERGUSSON, Governor-General.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon him by section thirteen of the Scenery Preservation Act, 1908 (hereinafter referred to as “the said Act”), His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand doth hereby vest the control of the scenic reserve described in the Schedule hereto (being land reserved under the said Act) in the Waipukurau Borough Council, subject to the conditions hereinafter contained, that is to say:—

  1. The period for which the control of the reserve is hereby vested shall be five years from the date hereof, unless the reservation is previously altered or revoked under the said Act.

  2. The said Council shall prepare a report each year ending on the thirty-first day of March, together with a statement of receipts and expenditure in connection with the said reserve. Such report and statement shall be sent to the Minister charged with the administration of the said Act as soon as possible after the close of the year.

  3. The said Council shall control the said reserve in accordance with the provisions of the said Act and of the regulations made thereunder.

SCHEDULE.

TUKITUKI RIVER SCENIC RESERVE.—HAWKE’S BAY LAND DISTRICT.

SECTION 18, Block XIV, Waipukurau Survey District: Area, 22 acres 0 roods 32 perches.

Vesting the Control of a Scenic Reserve in the Orari Gorge Scenic Board.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon him by section thirteen of the Scenery Preservation Act, 1908, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand doth hereby vest the control of the reserve described in the Schedule hereto (being land reserved under the said Act), for the period of five years from the date hereof (unless previously altered or revoked under the said Act), in the undermentioned persons, namely,—

Arthur John Blakiston,
Alexander Adamson,
Stanley James Neutze,
William McLeod, and
Robert Yates,

who are hereby constituted for that purpose a special Board by the name of the Orari Gorge Scenic Board (herein referred to as “the Board”), in trust, for the preservation of scenery, and with the powers and subject to the conditions hereinafter contained, that is to say,—

  1. The first meeting of the Board shall be held on Saturday, the third day of December, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-seven, at seven o’clock p.m., in the Tripp Schoolhouse, and thereafter the Board shall meet for the transaction of business on the first Saturday in each month at the time and place aforesaid, or at such other time or place as may from time to time be fixed by the Board.

  2. The members of the Board shall at their first meeting, and thereafter at the annual meeting hereinafter mentioned, elect one of themselves to be Chairman, who may join in the discussion, and shall have an original as well as a casting vote. The Chairman shall hold office until the election of his successor.

  3. Special meetings may be convened by the Chairman, provided that two days’ notice of such meeting is given to each member, specifying the business to be transacted at such special meeting; and no other business than that so specified shall be transacted at such meeting.

  4. Any three members of the Board shall form a quorum. Any meeting may be adjourned from time to time.

  5. All questions shall be determined by the majority of votes of the members of the Board present at the meeting.

  6. If at any meeting the Chairman is not present at the time appointed for holding the same, the members present shall choose one of their number to be chairman for such meeting.

  7. If, by resignation, death, incapacity, or otherwise, the seat of any member shall be or become vacant, or if any member absents himself, without reasonable cause, from three consecutive meetings of the Board, the Governor-General shall have power to appoint any other person to be a member of the Board in his stead.

  8. The Board shall prepare and submit at an annual meeting to be held in the month of April in each year a report of the proceedings of the Board for the previous year ending on the thirty-first day of March, together with a statement of the receipts and expenditure of the Board for such year. A copy of every such report and statement, certified by the Chairman to be correct, shall be sent to the Minister in Charge of Scenery Preservation as soon as possible after each annual meeting.

  9. The Board shall control the said reserve in accordance with the provisions of the said Act and of the regulations made thereunder.

ORARI GORGE SCENIC RESERVE.

Canterbury Land District.

RESERVE 3811, Block XII, Four Peaks Survey District: Area, 197 acres 2 roods.

Mid-Wakatipu Domain: Certain Provisions of the Mining Act, 1926, brought into Operation.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the Mining Act, 1926, I, General Sir Charles Fergusson, Baronet, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare that, from and after the date of the publication hereof in the Gazette, the provisions of the Mining Act, 1926, excepting sections forty-seven and one hundred and fifty-two thereof, shall be in operation over the Mid-Wakatipu Domain as described in the Schedule hereto, and I do also declare that no mining privilege shall be granted in respect of any portion of the said domain, except with the consent of the Minister of Mines.

SCHEDULE.

MID-WAKATIPU DOMAIN.

ALL that area in the Otago Land District, containing by admeasurement 400 acres, more or less, being Section No. 39, Block IV, Mid-Wakatipu Survey District, Lake County. Commencing at the western boundary-line of said block; thence by a line running due east through Trig. Station E, 3650 links; thence by a line bearing 54° 17½′, 14594 links, to the north-western corner of Section 17 of said Block IV; thence bounded on the east by said Section 17 and the abutment of a road-line, 2900 links; towards the south-east by Lake Wakatipu, 17700 links; towards the west by a road-line, 900 links; towards the south by a road-line, 1311 links; and again towards the west by part of Block V of aforesaid district, 893 links, to commencing-point: Be all the aforesaid linkages more or less. As the same is delineated on the plan marked L. 58613, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.
