THE following notice, received from the Chairman of the Council of the County of Pohangina, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926.

I BEG to inform you that a poll taken on 21st January, 1927, to obtain the consent of the ratepayers to a loan of £450 for the purpose of making a deviation in the Apiti-Kimbolton Main Highway resulted as follows:—

I therefore declare the proposal carried.

Notice of Result of Poll, Special-rating Area No. 1.

PURSUANT to section 13 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the Special-rating Area No. 1 of the County of Bay of Islands, taken on the 16th day of December, 1926, on the proposal of the Bay of Islands County Council to borrow the sum of £2,000 for the purpose of formation, metalling, and bridge work and culverts on the main road between Kaikohe and Mangakahia—
The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 28; the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 36.
I therefore declare that the proposal was rejected.

Results of Polls for Proposed Loans.

THE following notice, received from the Mayor of the Borough of Invercargill, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926.

BOROUGH OF INVERCARGILL.

PURSUANT to section 13 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, I hereby give notice that separate polls of the ratepayers of the Borough of Invercargill were taken on the 26th day of January, 1927, upon seven separate proposals of the Invercargill Borough Council to raise special loans as follow:—

  1. Electricity Loan No. 8 of £25,000.
    The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 726; the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 884.
    I therefore declare that the proposal for this loan was rejected.

  2. Library Loan No. 2 of £20,000.
    The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 480; the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 1,133.
    I therefore declare that the proposal for this loan was rejected.

  3. Harbour Reclamation Loan No. 4 of £16,000.
    The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 589; the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 1,025;
    I therefore declare that the proposal for this loan was rejected.

  4. Oreti Bridge and Road to Beach Loan of £11,300.
    The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 850; the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 782.
    I therefore declare that the proposal for this loan was carried.

  5. Town Hall Extensions Loan of £6,500.
    The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 399; the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 1,208.
    I therefore declare that the proposal for this loan was rejected.

  6. House and other Improvements at Pilot Station Loan of £1,500.
    The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 808; the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 805.
    I therefore declare that the proposal for this loan was carried.

  7. Streets Formation, Construction, and Improvements Loan of £60,000.
    The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 945; the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 683.
    I therefore declare that the proposal for this loan was carried.

THE following notice, received from the Mayor of the Borough of New Plymouth, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926.

BOROUGH OF NEW PLYMOUTH.

Result of Poll to raise £186,000 Loan.

PURSUANT to section 13 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, I hereby give notice that a poll of the ratepayers of the Borough of New Plymouth was taken on the 26th day of January, 1927, upon a proposal to raise a special loan of one hundred and eighty-six thousand pounds (£186,000) for the following purposes:—
The particular purposes for which the loan is required are:—

(a.) £38,300 for providing extensions to the borough water-works, as defined by section 238 of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1920, including in such extensions the purchasing, taking, or otherwise acquiring or providing necessary land, building, mains, machinery, plant, appliances, and material therefor, additions to the said works, the distribution and supply of water, the payment of compensation to persons injuriously affected, and any matter or thing incidental or in relation to the said purpose.

£147,700 for providing extensions to the Council’s electric-lighting and power works, either within or without the Borough of New Plymouth, including in such extensions the acquiring or taking or providing in connection therewith land, easements, appurtenances, and buildings, plant, machinery, mains, materials, and other things, the distribution and supply of electricity, additions to the said works, the payment of compensation to any person injuriously affected, and any matter or thing incidental to or in relation to such purpose.

(b.) The sum to be borrowed for all such purposes is £186,000, at a rate of interest not exceeding £5 10s. per centum per annum, with a sinking fund of one and one-half (1½) per centum per annum additional.

(c.) The proposed security for the said loan of £186,000 and the interest and sinking fund thereon is an annually recurring special rate of twopence halfpenny (2½d.) in the pound on the rateable value (on the basis of the unimproved value) of all rateable property in the said Borough of New Plymouth, and it is proposed to repay the said loan on the 1st day of April, 1947.

(d.) It is proposed to pay out of the said loan the cost of raising the said loan and the interest and sinking fund thereon for the first year.

The number of valid votes recorded for the proposal was 635; the number of valid votes recorded against the proposal was 745.
I therefore declare the said proposal rejected.
