THE Public Service Commissioner has made the following appointments in the Public Service :—
Richard Tierney McLean, Esquire,
to be the Registrar of Electors and Returning Officer for the Electoral District of Ohinemuri for the purposes of the Legislature Act, 1908, as from the 4th day of October, 1927.
Eric George Rhodes, Esquire,
to be Deputy Registrar of the Court of Appeal of New Zealand for the purposes of the Judicature Act, 1908, as from the 19th day of October, 1927.

HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve of the appointments, promotions, resignations, and transfers of the undermentioned officers of the N.Z. Military Forces.
COMMAND.
The period of command of Lieutenant-Colonel R. C. Wickens, D.S.O., Commander 3rd Field Brigade, N.Z.A., is extended until 31st May, 1928. Dated 13th October, 1927.
THE NORTH AUCKLAND MOUNTED RIFLES.
2nd Lieutenant M. A. Young, 3rd Battalion, Royal Sussex Regiment (British Territorial Army) is attached for duty. Dated 10th October, 1927.
THE REGIMENT OF N.Z. ARTILLERY.
2nd Lieutenant W. N. Isaac, 19th Medium Battery, N.Z.A., is attached to the Wellington Regiment, under the provisions of Paragraph 141, G.R. 1927. Dated 3rd October, 1927.
CORPS OF N.Z. ENGINEERS.
Northern Depot.
Captain W. A. Gray, M.C., Retired List, to be Captain. Dated 10th October, 1927.
THE N.Z. INFANTRY.
The Auckland Regiment (Countess of Ranfurly’s Own).
Major G. P. O’Shannassy, 4th C Battalion, is posted to the Retired List, with permission to retain his rank and wear the prescribed uniform. Dated 10th October, 1927.
2nd Lieutenant E. F. Thompson ceases to be seconded to the 5th C Battalion, and is posted to the 1st Battalion with his original seniority. Dated 10th October, 1927.
2nd Lieutenant N. V. Rix-Trott, from the Canterbury Regiment, to be 2nd Lieutenant, 1st Battalion, with seniority as from the 23rd June, 1924. Dated 10th October, 1927.
The Hauraki Regiment.
Captain A. J. McI. Cross is posted to the Retired List, with permission to retain his rank and wear the prescribed uniform. Dated 11th October, 1927.
The North Auckland Regiment.
George Maurice Kirton to be Bandmaster, with the honorary rank of Lieutenant. Dated 5th October, 1927.
2nd Lieutenant (on probation) J. D. McDonald, 1st C Battalion, is transferred to the Hawke’s Bay Regiment. Dated 7th October, 1927.
The Wellington Regiment.
2nd Lieutenant W. N. Isaac, the Regiment of N.Z. Artillery, is attached for duty to the 1st C Battalion, under the provisions of paragraph 141, G.R. 1927. Dated 3rd October, 1927.

Lieutenant L. G. Williams ceases to be seconded to the 2nd C Battalion, and is posted to the 1st Battalion with his original seniority. Dated 28th September, 1927.
2nd Lieutenant (on probation) J. D. McDonald, from the North Auckland Regiment, to be 2nd Lieutenant (on probation), with seniority as from the 13th May, 1926, and is seconded for duty with the 1st C Battalion. Dated 7th October, 1927.

2nd Lieutenant J. D. H. Buchanan, 1st C Battalion, to be Lieutenant. Dated 28th September, 1927.
Lieutenant J. W. Bruce, 5th C Battalion, is transferred to the Nelson, Marlborough, and West Coast Regiment. Dated 12th October, 1927.
2nd Lieutenant N. V. Rix-Trott, 1st Battalion, is transferred to the Auckland Regiment (Countess of Ranfurly’s Own). Dated 10th October, 1927.

2nd Lieutenant F. R. McBride ceases to be attached to the 1st Battalion, and is seconded for duty with the 3rd C Battalion, with his original seniority. Dated 4th October, 1927.

Lieutenant E. H. Diack, 2nd C Battalion, is transferred to the Southland Regiment. Dated 10th October, 1927.
The Southland Regiment.
Lieutenant E. H. Diack, from the Otago Regiment, to be Lieutenant, 1st Battalion, with seniority as from the 11th June, 1924. Dated 10th October, 1927.
N.Z. MEDICAL CORPS.
Captain J. H. G. Robertson, C.B.E., M.B., F.R.C.S. Edin., is posted to the Retired List with the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel, with permission to wear the prescribed uniform. Dated 7th October, 1927.
