(b) A teacher who, during any year ending on the 31st day of January,
has been on leave without pay for a period or periods exceeding
in the aggregate five school days, shall be entitled to be paid
only for such part of the school holidays during that year as is
equal to one-fourth of his period of service as hereinafter defined.
(3) Notwithstanding anything in paragraph (b) of the last preceding
subclause, the Minister may in any case authorize the payment of salary
in respect of the whole period of holidays or in respect of a greater portion
of those holidays than is therein provided for.
(4) For the purposes of paragraph (b) of subclause (2) hereof, a teacher’s
period of service shall comprise the actual period spent in teaching, together
with any period during which the teacher has been on leave with full pay
or half pay, but does not include any period of school holidays or any other
period.”
7. Clause 37 is hereby amended by deleting the proviso to subclause (6)
thereof.

VII. AGRICULTURAL BURSARIES.

The regulations relating to agricultural bursaries, made by Order in
Council dated 18th December, 1924, are hereby amended as follows :—

  1. Clause 4 is hereby amended by deleting the words “8th September”
    following the words “not later than the” and substituting therefor the
    words “1st February.”

VIII. HOME SCIENCE AND DOMESTIC ARTS BURSARIES.

The regulations relating to home science and domestic arts bursaries,
made by Order in Council dated 18th December, 1924, are hereby amended
as follows :—

  1. Clause 1 is hereby amended by revoking subclause (d).
  2. Clause 2 is hereby amended by deleting all the words following the
    words “together with the necessary certificates with the” and by substi-
    tuting therefor the words “Director of Education.”

IX. ORGANIZING TEACHERS.

The regulations for organizing teachers made by Order in Council dated
26th October, 1920, and amended by Orders in Council dated 24th March,
1921, 16th January, 1922, 12th January, 1925, and 22nd March, 1926, are
hereby further amended as follows :—

  1. Clause 8 is hereby amended by deleting subparagraph (iii) of para-
    graph (c) of subclause (1) thereof, and substituting “such an allowance
    per mile for the use of a motor-cycle or motor-car as the Minister shall from
    time to time determine.”
  2. The following new clause is hereby inserted :—
    “13. The staff of organizing teachers in any education district may
    be modified in any way the Minister, after consultation with the Educa-
    tion Board, may determine.”

X. PUBLIC SCHOOLS : SALARIES, GRADING, STAFFING, ETC.

The regulations relating to public school teachers’ salaries, grading, and
staffing of public schools, and other matters made by Order in Council
dated 12th January, 1925, and subsequently amended by Orders in Council
dated 28th October, 1925, 22nd March, 1926, and 13th April, 1927, are
hereby further amended by inserting after the word “notice,” in clause 32,
the words “of dismissal.”

XI. TRAINING COLLEGES.

The regulations relating to training colleges made by Order in Council
dated 13th December, 1926, and amended by Order in Council dated 13th
April, 1927, are hereby further amended by the addition of the following
subclause to clause 27 :—
“(2) Students who during their course of training have specialized in,
and have shown special knowledge of and ability to teach, any subject, may,
on the recommendation of the Principal of the college, and with the con-
currence of the Director of Education, receive an endorsement on their
teachers’ certificates of a special qualification to teach such subject.”

XII. JUNIOR AND SENIOR NATIONAL SCHOLARSHIPS.

The regulations relating to Junior and Senior National Scholarships
made by Order in Council dated 17th January, 1927, are hereby amended
by deleting the words “Grade IIIA,” in the first proviso to Clause 4, and
by substituting therefor the words “Grade IIIB.”
