THE following notice, received from the Chairman of the Manawatu Drainage Board, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1926.

MANAWATU DRAINAGE BOARD.
PURSUANT to section 13 of the Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1926, I hereby give notice that at a poll of ratepayers of the Manawatu Drainage District, taken on the 24th day of February, 1927, on the proposal of the Manawatu Drainage Board to borrow the sum of ten thousand pounds (£10,000) for the purpose of widening, deepening, diverting, straightening, putting in flood-gates, and doing all such other works and acts as may be necessary for the purpose of improving the Mangaone Stream, the Joint Outlet, Whiskey Creek, Burke’s Drain, Boundary Drain, and Main Drain.
The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 283; the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 207; informal, 4.
I therefore declare the proposal was lost.

Approval of Fees for Licensing of Vehicles fixed by Joint By-laws.

IT is hereby notified, in accordance with section 109 of the Counties Act, 1920, to approve of so much of the joint by-laws made by the Dannevirke, Hawke’s Bay, Patangata, Waipawa, Waipukurau, Wairoa, Weber, and Woodville County Councils, and sealed with the seal of each Council on the 3rd December, 1926, 13th December, 1926, 14th December, 1926, 13th December, 1926, 11th December, 1926, 14th December, 1926, 13th December, 1926, and 10th December, 1926, respectively, as appoints the several sums to be paid to the county fund of each county for the licensing of vehicles plying for hire.

IN accordance with Rule 16 of the rules for the election of members of Fire Boards by fire-insurance companies, and at the request of the Secretary of the Council of the Fire and Accident Underwriters’ Associations of New Zealand, I, Richard Francis Bollard, being the Minister charged with the administration of the Fire Brigades Act, 1926, do hereby convene a meeting of duly authorized representatives of fire-insurance companies carrying on business in New Zealand, to be held in the office of the Council of the Fire and Accident Underwriters’ Associations of New Zealand, 97 The Terrace, Wellington, on Wednesday, the 27th April, 1927, at 10.30 a.m., for the purpose of considering consequential alterations in the aforesaid rules for the election of members of Fire Boards by insurance companies under the Fire Brigades Act, 1926.

The Special School for Boys, Otekaike, and
The Special School for Girls, Richmond,
being “special schools” already established under section 127 of the Education Act, 1914, shall henceforth also be deemed to be institutions established under the Child Welfare Act, 1925.
