Amendment of Regulations to prevent the Contamination of Food during Manufacture and Sale. (H. 125a.)

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this 1st day of February, 1926.

Present:

THE RIGHT HONOURABLE J. G. COATES, P.C., PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred on him by the Health Act, 1920, and of all other powers enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby amend in the following manner the regulations made under the said Act on the twenty-first day of July, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-four, and published in the Gazette on the twenty-fourth day of the same month, at page 1710:—

  1. Regulation 11 of the said regulations is hereby amended by adding to subclause (2) thereof the following paragraph:—
    “11. (2A.) Every person engaged in the handling of meat shall take measures to prevent such meat from coming into direct contact with his head and neck, and no person engaged in the handling of meat shall permit such meat to come into direct contact with his head or neck.”

  2. The following clause is added to the said regulations:—
    “PENALTY CLAUSE.
    “16. Any person by whose act, default, or sufferance any of these regulations is contravened is liable on conviction to a penalty of not more than twenty pounds, and for a continuing offence to a penalty of two pounds for every day during which the offence shall continue.”

Opening Settlement Lands in Marlborough Land District for Selection.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1924, and the Land for Settlements Act, 1925, I, General Sir Charles Fergusson, Baronet, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the settlement lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for selection on renewable lease on Thursday, the eighteenth day of March, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-six, at the rentals mentioned in the said Schedule; and I do also declare that the said lands shall be leased under and subject to the provisions of the said Acts.

These sections are all flat, suitable for residential sites, situated within the township and handy to railway-station, post-office, school, and saleyards.

Postmaster appointed to take and receive Statutory Declarations.

PURSUANT to the authority conferred upon me by the two-hundred-and-eighty-eighth section of the Justices of the Peace Act, 1908, I, General Sir Charles Fergusson, Baronet, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby notify and declare that

Frank Hollis Stretton,

being a person holding the office of Postmaster under the Post and Telegraph Act, 1908, at Makaretu, is authorized to take and receive statutory declarations under the two-hundred-and-eighty-eighth section of the Justices of the Peace Act, 1908.

Arrangements for First Election, &c., Mangapu Drainage District.

Richard Ormsby, Esquire, of Te Kuiti,

to be Returning Officer and person to prepare the roll of electors in connection with the first election of the Board of the Mangapu Drainage District; also to appoint Wednesday, the 3rd day of March, 1926, to be the day, and the office of Richard Ormsby, Esquire, Sheridan Street, Te Kuiti, the office of Alexander Scholes, Hangatiki, and the offices of the Otorohanga County Council, Otorohanga, to be the places, for holding such election; also to appoint Wednesday, the 10th day of March, 1926, at 10 o’clock in the forenoon, to be the day and the hour, and the said office of Richard Ormsby, Esquire, Sheridan Street, Te Kuiti, to be the place, for holding the first meeting of the Board so elected.

Cancellation of Appointment as Ranger under the Animals Protection and Game Act, 1921–22.

as a Ranger under the said Act for the Rotorua Acclimatization District.
