(c.) In real securities in New Zealand.
(d.) On the security of leasehold interest held by any person in any Native freehold land.
(e.) On the security of any leasehold or other particular interest held by any Native in Crown land.
(f.) By deposit in the Common Funds of the Public Trustee or the Native Trustee.
(g.) By deposit with any other Maori Land Board.
(h.) By deposit in any bank carrying on business in New Zealand under statutory authority, or in any Post Office Savings-bank or other savings-bank in New Zealand.
(i.) In any securities in which trustees are from time to time specifically authorized by statute to invest their funds.
(j.) In any other security that may from time to time be authorized by the Governor-General in Council.
(2.) Advances upon real or leasehold securities shall not exceed three-fifths of the estimated value thereof according to a valuation approved by the Board.
(3.) Any such investment may be varied from time to time.
(4.) The powers hereby given are in addition to those contained in section 8 of the Native Land Amendment and Native Land Claims Adjustment Act, 1926.

INTEREST PAYABLE TO NATIVE LAND SETTLEMENT ACCOUNT.

  1. The rate of interest payable to the Native Land Settlement Account for money paid from that account into the account of a Maori Land Board under the provisions in that behalf contained in subsection (d) of section 417 of the Native Land Act, 1909, as amended by section 10 of the Native Land Amendment and Native Land Claims Adjustment Act, 1926, shall be calculated at five pounds per centum per annum until repayment.

PREPARATION OF SUBSTITUTED AND RENEWED LEASES AND VARIATION OF TERMS OF LEASES.

  1. (1.) The cost of preparation of the undermentioned documents and of perusal of same on behalf of the Natives interested shall be borne by the lessee :-
    (a.) Substituted lease under section 17 of the Native Land Amendment and Native Land Claims Adjustment Act, 1922.
    (b.) Renewal of lease under section 6 of the Native Land Amendment and Native Land Claims Adjustment Act, 1926.
    (c.) Memorandum under subsection (4) of section 5 of the Native Land Amendment and Native Land Claims Adjustment Act, 1926.
    (2.) The Board may at any stage of the proceedings require a deposit to be made with the Board of a sum equivalent to the estimated reasonable cost of the documents required, and may decline to take any further steps until such sum is either paid or secured.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities vested in him by the Education Act, 1914, and the amendments of that Act, and all other powers and authorities enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby direct that the following shall, from the first day of January, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-seven, be the only class-books that teachers in public schools shall be authorized to require their pupils to purchase for school use.

WHEREAS section thirty-two of the Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1926, provides that where any local authority has heretofore been or shall hereafter be authorized to raise a loan, whether pursuant to a poll of ratepayers or otherwise, and whether such loan has been raised in part or not, such local authority may, with the consent of the Governor-General in Council, raise such loan or any part thereof upon terms of making the same, together with interest thereon, repayable by instalments extending over such period of years, whether in excess of the period mentioned in the poll taken on the proposal for such loan or not, and payable at such times as may be fixed by such local authority, and may permanently appropriate and pledge for the purpose of securing such instalments any special rate already made, or hereafter to be made, or any part of such special rate :
And whereas the Te Awamutu Electric-power Board has been authorized to borrow the sum of sixty-two thousand pounds for the conversion of an outstanding loan known as the Te Awamutu Electric-power Board Loan (1921) of sixty-two thousand pounds :
And whereas application has been made by the aforesaid Power Board for the consent of His Excellency the Governor-General in Council to the raising of the said sixty-two thousand pounds on the instalment system, extending over a period of thirty-six and a half years :
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby consent to the Te Awamutu Electric-power Board raising the sum of sixty-two thousand pounds upon the terms of making the same, together with interest thereon, repayable by instalments extending over a period of thirty-six and a half years, and the said Te Awamutu Electric-power Board is hereby authorized to borrow the said sum of sixty-two thousand pounds on these terms.
