Commission of Inquiry appointed.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this 1st day of February, 1926.

Present:

THE RIGHT HONOURABLE J. G. COATES, P.C., PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by section two of the Land and Income Tax Amendment Act, 1925, it is enacted that the Governor-General in Council may appoint a Commission under the Commissions of Inquiry Act, 1908, to inquire and report as to any cases of hardship alleged to have arisen by reason of the operation of section eleven of the Land and Income Tax Amendment Act, 1924, in relation to land-tax in respect of the payment of which default had been made before the commencement of that Act:

And whereas it is expedient that such a Commission should be appointed forthwith:

Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon him by the Land and Income Tax Amendment Act, 1925, and by the Commissions of Inquiry Act, 1908, and of all other powers and authorities enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby appoint you, Donald George Clark, to be a Commission to inquire and report as to any cases of hardship alleged to have arisen by reason of the operation of section eleven of the Land and Income Tax Amendment Act, 1924, in relation to land-tax in respect of the payment of which default had been made before the commencement of that Act.

And you are hereby authorized to conduct any inquiries under these presents at such times and places as you deem expedient, with power to adjourn from time to time and place to place as you think fit, and to call before you and examine on oath or otherwise such persons as you think capable of affording you information as to the matter aforesaid, and to call for and examine all such books, papers, plans, writings, documents, or records as you deem likely to afford you information on any such matter.

And, using all due diligence, you are required to report to me under your hand and seal not later than the thirtieth day of April, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-six, your recommendation on the aforesaid matter.

And you are hereby strictly charged and directed that you shall not at any time publish or otherwise disclose, save to me in pursuance of these presents, or by my direction, the contents or purport of any report so made or to be made by you.

And it is hereby declared that these presents shall continue in force although the inquiry is not regularly continued from time to time or from place to place.

And, lastly, it is hereby further declared that these presents are issued under and subject to the provisions of the Commissions of Inquiry Act, 1908.

Consenting to Additional Land being taken for the Purposes of the Avondale Mental Hospital in the City of Auckland.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred by the Public Works Act, 1908, and of all other powers in anywise enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby consent to the additional land described in the Schedule hereto being taken for the purposes of the Avondale Mental Hospital.

SCHEDULE.

APPROXIMATE areas of the pieces of land permitted to be taken :—

In the North Auckland Land District; as the same are more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 64299, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon coloured as above mentioned.

Declaring Portion of the Wairoa–Waikokopu Road, in the Wairoa County, to be a County Road.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this 1st day of February, 1926.

Present:

THE RIGHT HONOURABLE J. G. COATES, P.C., PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in him by the Public Works Act, 1908, and of all other powers in anywise enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby order and declare that the portion of road described in the Schedule hereto shall, on and after the date of this Order in Council, become a county road.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that portion of the Wairoa–Waikokopu Road, situated in the Hawke’s Bay Land District, Wairoa County, commencing at a point on the north-eastern boundary of Waikokopu Block No. 3D, Block X, Nuhaka Survey District, and proceeding thence generally in a southerly direction adjoining or passing through part of Waikokopu Block No. 3B, Waikokopu Railway Reserve, and Nuhaka Block Nos. 3B, 3D, and 2, Block X, Nuhaka Survey District, and terminating at a point on the north-western boundary of the Waikokopu Harbour Board’s Reserve; being a distance of 26½ chains, more or less. As the said portion of road is more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 65194, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon coloured red.

Declaring a Road and Portions of Roads in the Manawatu County to be County Roads.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this 1st day of February, 1926.

Present:

THE RIGHT HONOURABLE J. G. COATES, P.C., PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in him by the Public Works Act, 1908, and of all other powers in anywise enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby order and declare that the road and portions of roads described in the Schedule hereto shall, on and after the date of this Order in Council, become county roads.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that road known as Koura Street, commencing at its junction with Kuku Street, and proceeding thence generally in a south-easterly direction to its junction with Punga Street; being a distance of 7 chains 74 links, more or less.

Also all that portion of road known as Punga Street, commencing at its junction with Ripa Street, and proceeding thence generally in a south-westerly direction adjoining Sections 83 to 76, 73, and 61, and 56 to 52, Town of Tangimoana, and terminating at the south-eastern corner of Section 51 of the said town; being a distance of 19 chains 34 links, more or less.

Also all that portion of road known as West Square, commencing in line with the south-western side of the northernmost portion of Kina Street and proceeding thence generally in a north-easterly direction adjoining Sections 4, 5, and 6; and thence in a south-easterly direction adjoining Sections 15,
