Result of Poll for Proposed Loan.
THE following notice, received from the Chairman of the Board of the Grey Electric-power District, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1926.

GREY ELECTRIC-POWER BOARD.
Pursuant to section 13 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, I hereby give notice that a poll of ratepayers of the Grey Electric-power Board District, taken on Wednesday, 6th October, 1926, on the proposal to borrow the sum of £50,000 for the construction of electric works resulted as follows :—
For the proposal, 738 ; against the proposal, 164 ; informal, 8.
I hereby declare the proposal to be carried.

WANGANUI HARBOUR BOARD.
Special Loan of £40,000.
In the matter of the Harbours Act, 1923, the Wanganui Harbour District and Empowering Amendment Act, 1926, and the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, and its amendments.
I HEREBY give notice that on the 20th day of October, 1926, a proposal was submitted by the Wanganui Harbour Board to the ratepayers of the Wanganui Harbour District for raising a special loan of £40,000 for the purpose of providing at Castlecliff freezing-works, cool chambers, warehouses, storehouses, sheds, and other buildings for harbour purposes, and office accommodation, as set out in the Schedule to the Wanganui Harbour District and Empowering Amendment Act, 1926, being works authorized by section 2 of such Act. And that the number of votes recorded respectively for and against the proposal were as follows :—
For, 613 ; against, 258 ; informal votes, 5.
I therefore declare the said proposal to be carried.

THE following notice, received from the Chairman of the Board of the Taranaki Electric-power District, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926.

TARANAKI ELECTRIC-POWER DISTRICT.
In the matter of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, and amendments thereof; and in the matter of the Electric-power Boards Act, 1925 ; and also in the matter of the Taranaki Electric-power Board’s proposal to raise a special loan of £10,000 for a term of not exceeding 36½ years at a rate of interest not exceeding £6 per centum per annum, plus a sinking fund of £1 per centum per annum, as more particularly described in advertisement appearing in the Taranaki Daily News and Stratford Evening Post of 28th September, 5th and 12th October, 1926.
Public notice is hereby given that the result of the poll of the ratepayers of the Stratford County Extension Special-rating Area of the Taranaki Electric-power District taken on the 1st day of November, 1926, on the above-mentioned proposal was as follows :—
Number of votes recorded in favour of the proposal, 16 ; number of votes recorded against the proposal, 3 ; number of informal votes, Nil.
I hereby declare the proposal to be carried.

UPPER HUTT BOROUGH COUNCIL.
Pursuant to section 13, subsection (1), of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, I have the honour to notify you that on the 27th day of October, 1926, a proposal was submitted to the ratepayers in the No. 2 Special-rating Area of the Western Ward of the Borough of Upper Hutt, for the raising of a loan of £16,000 for the purpose of establishing a high-pressure water-supply in that area ; and that the votes recorded for and against the proposal were as follows :— For the proposal, 102 ; against the proposal, 66 ; majority for the proposal, 36.
I therefore declare the said proposal to have been carried.

By-laws under the Government Railways Act, 1926.
In exercise and pursuance of the power and authority conferred by the Government Railways Act, 1926, and of all other powers and authorities in that behalf, I, Francis Joseph Rolleston, Acting Minister of Railways, do hereby amend the by-laws made under the Government Railways Act, 1908, on the 29th day of May, 1909, by making the following alterations therein :—
PART I.—GENERAL.
(a.) By omitting from By-law No. 27 the words “unless such person shall have been engaged by such passenger for such purpose.”
(b.) By adding to By-law No. 43 the following paragraph :— “(8.) No person, other than the holder of a license issued under the foregoing provisions of this by-law, shall drive or bring within the precincts of any railway any vehicle intended or used for the conveyance of passengers for hire, unless such person shall have been authorized so to do by the Manager or the Stationmaster.”

Date of Election by Fire-insurance Companies to fill Extraordinary Vacancies on the Mount Roskill Fire Board.

Pursuant to the Fire Brigades Act, 1908, and the rules made thereunder, I, Richard Francis Bollard, being the Minister charged with the administration of the said Act, do hereby appoint Thursday, the 25th November, 1926, to be the date for holding the election of three members of the Mount Roskill Fire Board by the fire-insurance companies concerned, such election being held to fill the extraordinary vacancies caused by the resignation of Messrs George Harry Brialey, Stuart Ernest Forbes, and William Charles Kemble.

Notice respecting Proposed Change of Name of District “Maxwelltown” to “Maxwell,” County of Waitotara.

It is hereby notified that a request has been made that the name of the district known as Maxwelltown, in the County of Waitotara, be altered to Maxwell, under the provisions of the Designation of Districts Act, 1908. All persons affected are hereby notified that any objections to or petitions against the proposed alteration of name must be lodged within one month from the first publication of this notice. Such objections or petitions are to be addressed and forwarded to the Minister of Internal Affairs, Wellington.
