THE Public Service Commissioner has made the following
appointments in the Public Service :
Roy Fellowes Baird, Esq.,
to be District Land Registrar and Examiner of Titles for the
District of Hawke's Bay pursuant to section 4 of the Land
Transfer Act, 1915, Registrar of Deeds for the District of
Hawke's Bay pursuant to section 6 of the Deeds Registration
Act, 1908, Assistant Commissioner of Stamp Duties for the
purposes of the Stamp Duties Act, 1923, Assistant Registrar
of Companies for the purposes of the Companies Act, 1908,
Registrar of Building Societies, under section 4 of the Building
Societies Act, 1908, Registrar of Industrial and Provident
Societies for the purposes of the Industrial and Provident
Societies Act, 1908, and Assistant Registrar of Incorporated
Societies for the purposes of the Incorporated Societies Act,
1908, at Napier, as from the 1st day of November, 1926.
Robert Henry Goodson
to be Registrar of Births and Deaths of Maoris at Kenana, as
from the 22nd day of October, 1926.

Appointments, Promotions, Resignations, and Transfers of
Officers of the N.Z. Military Forces.
Department of Defence,
Wellington, 11th November, 1926.
H IS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased
to approve of the appointments, promotions, resigna-
tions, and transfers of the undermentioned officers of the
N.Z. Military Forces.
STAFF.
Major O. H. Mead, D.S.O. (N.Z. Staff Corps), relinquishes
the appointment of Staff Officer in Charge of No. 5 Regi-
mental District, with effect from 19th October, 1926, and
is seconded whilst absent from the Dominion attending the
Staff College, Camberley. Dated 27th October, 1926.
Major N. W. McD. Weir (N.Z. Staff Corps) relinquishes the
appointment of Staff Officer in Charge of No. 12 Regi-
mental District, with effect from 29th September, 1926,
and is appointed Staff Officer in Charge of No. 5 Regi-
mental District, vice Major O. H. Mead, D.S.O., seconded.
Dated 20th October, 1926.
Captain G. H. Clifton, M.C. (N.Z. Staff Corps), having re-
turned from the United Kingdom, ceases to be seconded,
and is appointed Adjutant, Northern Depot, Corps of N.Z.
Engineers, and Northern Depot, N.Z. Corps of Signals.
Dated 14th September, 1926.
Captain A. W. Baldwin (N.Z. Army Ordnance Corps) re-
linquishes the appointment of Ordnance Officer, Northern
Command, Auckland. Dated 1st August, 1926.
Captain F. E. Ford (N.Z. Army Ordnance Corps) relinquishes
the appointment of Ordnance Officer, Featherston Camp,
with effect from 1st September, 1926, and is appointed
Ordnance Officer, Northern Command, Auckland, vice Cap-
tain A. W. Baldwin, N.Z. Army Ordnance Corps. Dated
29th September, 1926.
THE 1st N.Z. MOUNTED RIFLES (CANTERBURY YEOMANRY
CAVALRY).
Captain G. Mathias, M.C. (Retired List), to be Captain.
Dated 28th October, 1926.
Lieutenant N. P. Manning is transferred to the 6th N.Z.
Mounted Rifles (Manawatu). Dated 29th October, 1926.
6TH N.Z. MOUNTED RIFLES (MANAWATU).
Lieutenant N. P. Manning, from the 1st N.Z. Mounted Rifles
(Canterbury Yeomanry Cavalry), to be Lieutenant, with
seniority as from the 1st December, 1923.
THE N.Z. INFANTRY.
The Auckland Regiment (Countess of Ranfurly's Own).
The appointments of the undermentioned 2nd Lieutenants
(on probation) lapse. Dated 4th October, 1926.

T. J. Lanigan, 2nd C. Battalion.
C. A. Stewart, 3rd C. Battalion.
The Hauraki Regiment.
Lieutenant C. A. Le Lievre, from the Reserve of Officers, to
be Lieutenant, 1st Battalion. Dated 28th October, 1926.
The North Auckland Regiment.
The appointment of 2nd Lieutenant (on probation) L. Dodds
(1st C. Battalion) lapses. Dated 4th October, 1926.
The Wellington Regiment.
2nd Lieutenant L. G. Thompson ceases to be seconded to the
2nd C. Battalion, and is seconded for duty with the 4th
C. Battalion, with his original seniority. Dated 29th
October, 1926.
John Smith to be 2nd Lieutenant, and is seconded for duty
with the 2nd C. Battalion. Dated 3rd November, 1926.
2nd Lieutenant H. Roberts (3rd C. Battalion) is retired under
the provisions of paragraph 127, General Regulations, 1913.
Dated 29th October, 1926.
The Wellington West Coast Regiment.
Captain H. M. Keesing, M.C. (1st Battalion), is transferred
to the Reserve of Officers, Class I (b), R.D. 6. Dated 12th
October, 1926.
Lieutenant G. McAneny (1st C. Battalion) to be Captain.
Dated 28th October, 1926.
The Hawke's Bay Regiment.
Alexander Thomas McKenzie to be Lieutenant, 1st Bat-
talion. Dated 28th October, 1926.
2nd Lieutenant H. M. Caselberg, from the Reserve of Officers,
to be 2nd Lieutenant, 1st Battalion. Dated 29th October,
1926.
The Taranaki Regiment.
Captain L. S. Ashton (1st Battalion) to be Major. Dated 4th
November, 1926.
The Canterbury Regiment.
2nd Lieutenant W. Hughes (4th C. Battalion) to be Lieu-
tenant. Dated 27th October, 1926.
The Nelson, Marlborough, and West Coast Regiment.
Lieutenant C. G. Kirk ceases to be seconded to the 3rd C.
Battalion, and is seconded for duty with the 1st C. Bat-
talion, with his original seniority. Dated 3rd November,
1926.
N.Z. ARMY SERVICE CORPS.
Southern Depot.
2nd Lieutenant T. H. Lawn (Southern Depot) is transferred
to the Northern Depot, with seniority as from the 6th
October, 1923. Dated 22nd October, 1926.
N.Z. MEDICAL CORPS.
Captain R. S. J. Fitzgerald, M.B., from the Reserve of
Officers, to be Captain, and is attached for duty to the
1st Battalion, Otago Regiment. Dated 11th October, 1926.
RESERVE OF OFFICERS.
Captain E. J. F. Fraser is posted to the Retired List, under
the provisions of G.O. 184/21, with permission to retain
his rank and wear the prescribed uniform. Dated 3rd
November, 1926.
