AUSTRALIA.—SOUTH-EAST COAST.—DISASTER BAY.

Green Cape Light.—Intended Alteration in Character.—Temporary Light to be exhibited.

Mariners and others are hereby notified that the character of the flashing white light on Green Cape will be altered on or about 19th April, 1926.

Position.—On the extreme of the Cape, Lat. 37° 16′ S., long. 150° 04′ E., on Chart No. 1017.

Details :—

Character.—Group Flashing White showing four flashes every twenty seconds, thus: Flash ⅓ sec., eclipse 2⅓ sec.; flash ⅓ sec., eclipse 2⅓ sec.; flash ⅓ sec., eclipse 2⅓ sec.; flash ⅓ sec., eclipse 11⅓ sec.

Power.—327,000 candles.

Remarks.—In other respects the light will remain unaltered.

Further notice will be given when the alterations have been completed.

Temporary Light.—The existing light will be replaced from on or about 29th March, 1926, until on or about 19th April, 1926, by a lower power Group Flashing White light showing four flashes every twenty seconds, thus: Flash ⅓ sec., eclipse 2⅓ sec.; flash ⅓ sec., eclipse 2⅓ sec.; flash ⅓ sec., eclipse 2⅓ sec.; flash ⅓ sec., eclipse 11⅓ sec.

The buoy established half a mile east of Tumby Island has disappeared.

Position.—Lat. 34½° 24½′ S., long. 136° 10′ E.

  1. QUEENSLAND.

Whitsunday Passage.—Dent Island Light.

With reference to Notice to Mariners No. 8 of 1925, the period and power of the flashing white light on Dent Island were altered on the 24th November, 1925.

Position.—On west side one mile from S. point. Lat. 20° 22′ S., long. 148° 57′ E.

Character.—Flashing white, every 2½ sec., thus: Flash, 0·3 sec., eclipse, 2·2 sec.

Remarks.—The other details of the light remain unaltered.

Date of issue: 9th December, 1925.

Danger to Navigation.

Position.—10 M. 105° from Evans Head, N.S.W.

The master of the s.s. “Ulooloo” reports sighting a floating wooden framework about 25 ft. long in the above position on 12th January, 1926.

Derelict reported.

Position.—Lat. 39° 19′ S., long. 171° 32′ E.

The master of the schooner “Holmwood” has reported sighting a wooden vessel, approximately 90 ft. long, bottom up, in above position on the 12th December, 1925.

Mining Privileges struck off the Registers.—Notice under Section 30 of the Mining Amendment Act, 1914.
