Notice of Intention to take Land in Blocks VII, IX, and X, Tangitu Survey District, for the Purposes of a Road.


NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1908, to execute a certain public work—to wit, the construction of a road; and for the purposes of such public work the land described in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken. And notice is hereby given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the post-office at Ongarue, and is there open for inspection; and that all persons affected by the execution of the said public work or by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the execution of the said public work or to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Public Works at Wellington.

Lights established.

Nomuka Island.—On or about 15th August, 1926, a new light will be exhibited.

Position.—166 ft. summit Matamaka Hill, lat. 20° 14′ 42″ S., long. 174° 47′ 45″ W.

Abridged Description.—(U) Fl. ev. 5 sec. 182 ft. 10 M.

Characteristics.

Character.—Flashing white every five seconds, thus: Flash 0·5 sec., eclipse 4·5 sec.

Elevation.—182 ft. (55m5). Visibility.—10 miles.

Power.—300 candles. Structure.—White Tower.

NOTE.—The light is unwatched.

Charts affected.—Nos. 474, 2421, 1385.

Haano Island.—On or about 15th August, 1926, a new light will be exhibited.

Characteristics.

Character.—Flashing white every three seconds, thus: Flash 0·3 sec., eclipse 2·7 sec.

Elevation.—31 ft. (9m5). Visibility.—8 miles. Power.—100 candles. Structure.—White tower.

NOTE.—The light is unwatched.

Remarks.—Position on Chart 3099 obtained from Minister of Works, Tongatubu.

Conversion of Light on Western Half-tide Wall to Automatic.

NOTICE is hereby given that on and after 18th August, 1926, the present fixed white light on the end of the western half-tide wall will be replaced by an automatic light, flashing white every three seconds, thus: flash 0·3 sec., eclipse 2·7 secs.
