Classification of Roads in the Waipa County.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred on me by the Motor-lorry Regulations, 1925, and the Motor-lorry Regulations Amendment No. 1, I, Kenneth Stuart Williams, Minister of Public Works, do hereby alter the Waipa County Council’s proposed classification of roads, and do hereby approve of such altered classification as set forth in the Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE.

CLASSIFICATION OF ROADS IN THE WAIPA COUNTY.

Roads classified in the Third Class (available for the use thereon of any motor-lorry which, with the maximum load it is licensed to carry, weighs not more than 6 tons)—

Great South Main Highway: From the southern boundary of the Ngaruawahia Borough, via Hamilton, Ohaupo, Te Awamutu, and Kihikihi to the southern boundary of the Waipa County.

Hamilton–Raglan Main Highway: From the western boundary of the Hamilton Borough to the western boundary of the Waipa County at Whatawhata.

Te Awamutu–Pirongia Main Highway: From the western boundary of the Te Awamutu Borough to the Pirongia Post-office.

Roads classified in the Fourth Class (available for the use thereon of any motor-lorry which, with the maximum load it is licensed to carry, weighs not more than 4 tons)—

Ngaruawahia–Whatawhata Road: Starting from the south-eastern boundary of the Borough of Ngaruawahia, thence southwards via Te Kowhai School, Hall, and Post-office, to its junction with the Hamilton–Raglan Main Highway at Whatawhata Township.

Te Kowhai–Horotiu Road: Starting from its junction with the Ngaruawahia–Whatawhata Road at the southern corner of Allotment 163 of the Parish of Horotiu, in the vicinity of Te Kowhai School, thence proceeding in a north-easterly direction via Horotiu Post-office and Railway-station to its junction with the Great South Main Highway at the north-east corner of Allotment 132 of the said parish.

Te Kowhai–Te Rapa Road: Starting from its junction with the Ngaruawahia–Whatawhata Road at the northern corner of Allotment 86 of the Parish of Horotiu, near the Te Kowhai School, thence proceeding in an easterly direction via Te Rapa Railway-station to its junction with the Great South Main Highway.

Hamilton–Rotokauri Road: Starting from the northern boundary of the Borough of Hamilton at Stoke’s Gully, and proceeding in a north-westerly direction via Rotokauri School to its junction with the Hamilton–Raglan Main Highway by the Whatawhata Cemetery.

Whatawhata–Pirongia Road: Starting from its junction with the Hamilton–Raglan Main Highway at Whatawhata Township, thence proceeding in a southerly direction via Tuhikaramea, Ngahinepouri School, and Te Rore School, to its junction with the Pirongia–Te Awamutu Main Highway at Pirongia Township.

Tuhikaramea–Frankton Road: Starting from its junction with the Whatawhata–Pirongia Road at the northern corner of Allotment 209 of the Parish of Tuhikaramea by the Tuhikaramea Tennis-court, thence proceeding in a north-easterly direction to the southern boundary of the Borough of Hamilton.

Lake Crescent Road: Starting from its junction with the Great South Main Highway at the southern boundary of the Borough of Hamilton and proceeding for 40 chains in a westerly direction.

Peacocke’s Road: Starting from its junction with the Great South Main Highway at the western corner of Allotment 50 of the Parish of Te Rapa, in the vicinity of the Melville School, and proceeding in a south-easterly and southerly direction to its junction with the Great South Road Main Highway at the northern corner of Allotment 143 of the said Parish, about 31 chains north of the Rukuhia School.

Rukuhia Road: Starting from its junction with Whatawhata–Pirongia Road at the north-west corner of Allotment 273 of the Parish of Tuhikaramea, near the Ngahinepouri School and proceeding in a north-easterly direction via the Rukuhia Railway Station to its junction with the Great South Main Highway at the northern corner of Allotment 155 of the Parish of Te Rapa, about 4 chains south of the Rukuhia School.

Narrow’s Road: Starting from the Narrow’s Bridge over the Waikato River and proceeding in a south-westerly direction to its junction with the Great South Main Highway by the Rukuhia Cheese Factory.

Ohaupo–Cambridge Road: Starting from its junction with the Great South Main Highway at the northern corner of Allotment 191 of the Parish of Ngaroto, about 23 chains north of the Ohaupo School, and proceeding in an easterly direction past Kaipaki Creamery and through Walker’s Gully, crossing the Te Awamutu–Cambridge Road, and terminating at the south-western boundary of Leamington Town District at the eastern corner of Allotment 26 of the Parish of Pukekura.

Ohaupo–Ngahinepouri Road: Starting from its junction with the Great South Main Highway at the south-eastern corner of Allotment 308, Parish of Ngaroto, about 15 chains north of Ohaupo Post-office, and proceeding in a westerly direction to its junction with the Rukuhia Road at the north-western corner of Allotment 293 of the Parish of Tuhikaramea, about 30 chains east from the junction of the Rukuhia Road with the Whatawhata–Pirongia Road.

Ngaroto–Ohaupo Road: Starting from the Ngaroto Railway-station and proceeding in a north-westerly direction via Paterangi School and Creamery to the south-western corner of Allotment 108 of the Parish of Ngaroto, thence in an easterly direction over the Main Trunk Railway bridge to its junction with the Great South Main Highway at the north-eastern corner of Allotment 282 of the Parish of Ngaroto, about 54 chains south of the Ohaupo Post-office.

Kaipaki–Te Awamutu Road: Starting from its junction with the Ohaupo–Cambridge Road at the north-eastern corner of Allotment 183 of the Parish of Te Rapa, by the Kaipaki Creamery, and proceeding in a southerly direction to its junction with the Great South Main Highway at the north-western corner of Allotment 199 of the Parish of Puniu, in the vicinity of the Serpentine Lake.

Mangapiko Road: Starting from the south-eastern corner of Allotment 267 of the Parish of Mangapiko, near the Mangapiko School, and proceeding in a northerly direction crossing the Pirongia–Te Awamutu Main Highway and the Mangapiko Bridge No. 2 to its junction with the Ngaroto–Ohaupo Road at the eastern corner of Allotment 4 of the Parish of Mangapiko.

Ngaroto–Te Awamutu Road: Starting from the Ngaroto Railway-station and proceeding in an easterly direction, crossing the Great South Main Highway via Te Rahu School, to the north-eastern corner of Allotment 254, Parish of Puniu, thence in a southerly direction to its junction with the Great South Main Highway at the northern boundary of the Te Awamutu Borough at the north-western corner of Allotment 131 of the Parish of Puniu.

Te Awamutu–Cambridge Road: Starting from its junction with the Great South Main Highway by the north boundary of the Te Awamutu Borough at the north-western corner of Allotment 131 of the Parish of Puniu, and proceeding in a north-easterly direction through Hairini, crossing the Ohaupo–Cambridge Road at Grey’s corner, to the north-west boundary of the Leamington Town District at the north-eastern corner of Allotment 21A of the Parish of Pukekura.

Maungatautari Road: Starting from the eastern boundary of the Leamington Town District at the northern corner of Allotment 126 of the Parish of Pukekura, and proceeding in an easterly direction to the north-eastern boundary of the Waipa County in the eastern boundary of Allotment 227 of the Parish of Pukekura.

Cambridge–Puahue Road: Starting from the south-eastern boundary of the Leamington Town District in the eastern boundary of Allotment 170 of the Parish of Pukekura, and proceeding in a southerly direction via Roto-O-rangi School and Creamery to the junction of roads in Puahue 1L Block.

Frontier Road: Starting from the south-western boundary of the Borough of Te Awamutu at the south-east corner of Allotment 243 of the Parish of Mangapiko, and proceeding in a westerly direction to the Pirongia Post-office.

Te Awamutu–Otorohanga Road (west side of the railway): Starting from the southern corner of Allotment 233 of the Parish of Mangapiko at the southern boundary of the Borough of Te Awamutu, and proceeding in a south-westerly direction via the Kakepuku Hall and school to the southern boundary of the Waipa County in the southern boundary of Kakepuku 9B 5 Block.

Te Mawai Road: Starting from its junction with the Great South Main Highway in the western boundary of Tokanui 1B 2A Block, about 13 chains south of the Puniu River bridge, and proceeding in a westerly direction via the Tokanui Mental Hospital and Te Mawai Railway-station to its junction with the Te Awamutu–Otorohanga Road (West of Railway) in Kakepuku 1E Block.
