The Canterbury Regiment.
2nd Lieutenant J. E. Mackay ceases to be seconded for duty with the 2nd C. Battalion, and is seconded for duty with the 4th C. Battalion. Dated 18th May, 1926.
The appointment of 2nd Lieutenant (on probation) G. C. Beattie, 5th C. Battalion, is confirmed.

The Nelson, Marlborough, and West Coast Regiment.
2nd Lieutenant (on probation) J. R. Grigg (1st C. Battalion) is transferred to the Wellington Regiment. Dated 20th May, 1926.

The Otago Regiment.
The appointment of 2nd Lieutenant (on probation) R. W. Souter (1st C. Battalion) is confirmed.

The Southland Regiment.
Lieutenant H. M. Poppelwell to be Captain, 1st Battalion. Dated 1st May, 1926.
Lieutenant J. F. Walsh (1st Battalion) resigns his commission. Dated 26th May, 1926.

RESERVE OF OFFICERS.
Lieut.-Colonel F. T. Bellringer is posted to the Retired List under the provisions of paragraph 126, General Regulations, 1913, with permission to retain his rank and wear the prescribed uniform. Dated 11th May, 1926.

Date of Election by Fire-insurance Companies to fill One Extraordinary Vacancy on Each of the Invercargill and Dunedin Fire Boards.

PURSUANT to the Fire Brigades Act, 1908, and the rules made thereunder, I, Richard Francis Bollard, being the Minister charged with the administration of the said Act, do hereby appoint Thursday, 24th June, 1926, to be the date for holding the election of one member of each of the Invercargill and Dunedin Fire Boards by the fire-insurance companies concerned, such election being held to fill the extraordinary vacancies caused by the resignation of Mr. Thomas Chalmer.

Approval of Fees for Licensing of Vehicles fixed by By-laws.—Whangarei County Council.

IT is hereby notified, in accordance with section 109 of the Counties Act, 1920, that so much of the by-laws made by the Whangarei County Council and sealed on the 26th day of May, 1926, as appoints the several sums to be paid to the Whangarei County funds for the licensing of vehicles plying for hire has this day been approved by His Excellency the Governor-General.

First Meeting of the recently constituted Wellington Fire Board.

Notice under the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, prohibiting the Sale within the Borough of Dannevirke of certain Goods comprised in the Trade of a Tobacconist.

WHEREAS a petition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the tobacconists’ shops within the Borough of Dannevirke, has been forwarded to me, desiring that the sale of certain goods comprised in the trade of a tobacconist—namely, cigarettes, tobaccos, and smokers’ requisites—be prohibited during such time as the said shops are required to be closed in pursuance of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22 :
And whereas I, George James Anderson, Minister of Labour, am satisfied that the sale of the said goods is comprised in the trade of a tobacconist within the said borough, and that the signatures to such petition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the said shops within the said borough :
Now, therefore, in pursuance of section 33 of the said Act, I do hereby direct that on and after the 21st day of June, 1926, the sale of the said goods within the Borough of Dannevirke shall be and is hereby prohibited as follows—on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday after the hour of 6 p.m., and on Saturday after the hour of 9.30 p.m., with the following exceptions—(1) on the Thursday immediately preceding Good Friday the sale of the said goods is prohibited after the hour of 10.30 p.m. ; (2) on the working-day that first precedes Christmas Day and on the working-day that first precedes New Year’s Day the sale of the said goods is not prohibited.
