Result of Polls for Proposed Loans.

Wellington, 7th June, 1926.

THE following notice, received from the Chairman of the Board of the Mount Roskill Road District, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913.

MOUNT ROSKILL ROAD DISTRICT.

PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that a poll of the ratepayers of the Mount Roskill Road District was taken on Saturday, the 24th day of April, 1926, on the proposals of the Mount Roskill Road Board to borrow the following amounts, and the votes recorded for and against each proposal were as follows :—

Proposal No. 1, Loan of £134,400.—For the purpose of concreting Mount Albert Road to point past May Road, Three Kings Road, Dominion Road, May Road, and Hillsboro Road, and the kerbing and channelling and pathway-formation of Buckland Road, Liverpool Street, Selwyn Road, Lynton Avenue, Queenstown Road, Jellicoe Avenue, Pah Road, bituminous surfacing, and purchase of bitumen-spraying plant,—

Number of votes recorded for the proposal, 185 ; number of votes recorded against the proposal, 859 ; informal, 15.

I therefore declare that the proposal was rejected.

Proposal No. 2, Loan of £88,800.—For the purpose of concreting Dominion Road, Three Kings Road, and Mount Albert Road to a point past May Road; Pah Road, bituminous surfacing, and purchase of bitumen-spraying plant,—

Number of votes recorded for the proposal, 265 ; number of votes recorded against the proposal, 778 ; informal, 14.

I therefore declare that the proposal was rejected.

Proposal No. 3, Loan of £86,700.—For the purpose of concreting Dominion Road, Three Kings Road, and Mount Albert Road to a point past May Road,—

Number of votes recorded for the proposal, 451 ; number of votes recorded against the proposal, 605 ; informal, 12.

I therefore declare that the proposal was rejected.

Incorporated Societies Act, 1908.—Declaration by the Assistant Registrar dissolving a Society.

I, WILLIAM JOHNSTON, Assistant Registrar of Incorporated Societies, do hereby declare that, as it has been made to appear to me that the Te Uri Private Telephone Association (Incorporated) (1912/2 H.B.) is no longer carrying on its business, the aforesaid society is hereby dissolved in pursuance of section 28 of the Incorporated Societies Act, 1908.

Notice of Date of the Public Service Entrance Examination.

Office of the Public Service Commissioner.
Wellington, 26th May, 1926.

NOTICE is hereby given of the intention to hold the Public Service Entrance Examination on or about the 17th November, 1926, and following days.

For the examination a fee of £1 is payable.

Entries for the examination must be addressed “The Director of Education, Wellington,” and be sent so as to reach his office on or before the 8th September, 1926. Both male and female candidates will be admitted to the examination.

Late applications for the examination will be received up to the 22nd September if accompanied by a receipt for a late fee of 10s. (in addition to the £1 ordinarily payable) paid at some money-order office of the Post and Telegraph Department.

All entries must be made on the proper forms, which may be obtained from the office of the Education Department or of any Education Board.

No one, except in such cases as the Commissioner may declare to be special cases, shall be appointed to a cadetship in the Clerical Division unless his age at the time of appointment is not less than fifteen nor more than eighteen years.

Notice of the Date of Examinations under the Control of the Director of Education.

Education Department,
Wellington, 26th May, 1926.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned examinations will be held on or about the dates specified in each case :—

Senior National Scholarship Examination : 17th November, 1926, and following days.

Intermediate Examinations for Senior Free Places in Secondary Schools and District High Schools : 17th November, 1926, and following days.

Junior National Scholarship (candidates for Junior Free Places who will be over fifteen on the 1st December next must now take this examination) : 25th and 26th November, 1926.

Entries must be made as follows :—

For Junior and Senior National Scholarships and Junior Free Places : Through the head teacher of the school, to the Secretary of the Education Board, up till the 8th September.

For the Intermediate (Senior Free Place) Examination : Through the head teacher, to the Director of Education, Wellington, up to the 8th September.

Late applications for the three above-named examinations, accompanied by receipts for the payment of a late fee of 10s. at some money-order office of the Post and Telegraph Department, will be received up to the 22nd September.

All entries must be made on the proper forms, which may be obtained from the office of any Education Board.
