Special Order made by the Hutt County Council altering Riding Boundaries and adjusting Representation.

THE following special order, made by the Hutt County Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Counties Act, 1920.

Pursuant to section 100 of that Act, as amended by section 3 of the Counties Amendment Act, 1921-22, I hereby fix the 31st day of March, 1926, as the date from which the special order shall take effect.

HUTT COUNTY COUNCIL.
Special Order.

WHEREAS it is expedient to rearrange the division of the County of Hutt into ridings and to readjust the representation of same, the Hutt Council have passed the following resolution by way of special order :-

RESOLUTION.

  1. The present division of the County of Hutt into five ridings be revoked, and in lieu thereof the said county shall be divided into seven ridings to be called respectively Epuni, Heretaunga, Horokiwi, Mungaroa, Taupo, Wainuiomata, and Whareroa, which said ridings are respectively described in the Schedule hereto.

  2. The said Hutt County Council shall consist of seven members, who shall be elected as follows : The electors of Epuni, Heretaunga, Horokiwi, Mungaroa, Taupo, Wainuio-mata, and Whareroa shall each elect one Councillor.

  3. The alteration hereby made shall not come into force until the general election of the Council on the 12th May, 1926, except in so far and to such extent as may be necessary for preparing any roll or otherwise providing for such election.

Schedule.

Epuni Riding.-Commencing at the south-eastern corner of Section 233, Block 10, Belmont Survey District, thence south-westerly along the southern boundaries of the said Section 233 and Sections 232 and 231, Block 10, Belmont Survey District, and the eastern and part of the southern boundary of Section 439, and the eastern and southern boundaries of Section 440, Block 10, Belmont Survey District, and the southern boundary of Section 41, Block 14, Belmont Survey District, to the north-eastern boundary of the Borough of Lower Hutt; thence generally by the northern and western boundaries of the said borough to the northern boundary of the Borough of Petone ; thence westerly along the said northern boundary to its intersection with the boundary of the County of Makara ; thence generally westerly and northerly along the said boundary to the northern boundary of Section 331, Block 8, Belmont Survey District; thence easterly along the northern boundary of the said Section 331 to its intersection with the western boundary of Block 3, Belmont Survey District ; thence easterly and northerly along the southern and eastern boundary of the said Block 3, Belmont Survey District, to the south-western corner of Section 200, Block 4, Belmont Survey District ; thence north-easterly along the western boundary of Sections 200, 198, 197. 196A, and 196, Block 4, Belmont Survey District, and the continuation of the said Section 196 to its eastern boundary; thence south-westerly along the eastern boundary of the said Section 196 and Section 178 to the production of the north-eastern boundary of Section 191, Block 4, Belmont Survey District; thence south-easterly along the northern boundaries of the said Section 191 and Section 204, Block 4, Belmont Survey District; thence south-westerly along the eastern boundary of the said Section 204; thence south-westerly along the eastern boundary of Section 205, Block 10, Belmont Survey District, to the south-western boundary of Section 249, Block 10, Belmont Survey District; thence along the southern boundary of the said Section 249 and Section 247, Block 10, Belmont Survey District; thence generally south-westerly and southerly along the western boundaries of Sections 235, 236, 237, Block 10, Belmont Survey District, to the point of commencement. -F.H.W.

Wainuiomata Riding.-Commencing at the north-western corner of Section 8, Block 15, Belmont Survey District, thence south-westerly along part of the south-eastern boundary of the Epuni Riding, previously described, to the eastern boundary of the Borough of Lower Hutt; thence generally along the eastern and southern boundary of the said borough to the shores of Port Nicholson; thence generally along the said shores and sea-coast to the northern boundary of the Borough of Eastbourne; thence generally along the northern, eastern, and southern boundaries of the said borough to the shores of Port Nicholson; thence generally along the said shores and sea-coast to the western boundary of the County of Featherston; thence generally northerly along the said western boundary to a point where it is intersected by the north-eastern boundary of the Timber and Water-supply Reserve; thence north-westerly along the north-eastern boundary of the said reserve to the eastern boundary of Section 97, Block 8, Rimutaka Survey District; thence south-westerly and north-westerly along the south-eastern and south-western boundaries of the said Section 97 to the eastern boundary of Section 67; thence southerly along the eastern boundary of said Section 67 and a continuation thereof to the southern boundary of Section 64; thence north-westerly along the said southern boundary to the south-eastern boundary of Section 282; thence southerly along the eastern boundary of Section 6, Block 8, Rimutaka Survey District; thence westerly along the southern boundary of said Section 6 and of Section 7, Block 8, Rimutaka Survey District, to the southern boundary of Section 8, Block 15, Belmont Survey District; thence westerly along the southern boundary and northerly along the western boundary of said Section 8 to the point of commencement. And, further, all that portion of land being part Sections 9 and 10, Block 13, Belmont Survey District, generally known as Gear Island. -F.H.W.

Taupo Riding.-Commencing at a point on the sea-coast at the north-western boundary of Tunupo Block, Block 3, Paekakariki Survey District, thence along the said boundary to the north-eastern corner of Section 49, Block 3, Paekakariki Survey District; thence south-westerly along the western boundaries of Sections 49, 46, Block 3, Paekakariki Survey District, to the western boundary of Section 43, Block 6, Paekakariki Survey District; thence generally south-westerly along the western boundaries of Sections 43, 40, 39, 36, 35, 32, 31, 28, 27, 24, 23, 20, 19, 16, 15, 12, and part 44, Block 6, Paekakariki Survey District, and continuing on the western boundaries of Sections 11, 8, 7, 4, 3, and 87, Block 9, Paekakariki Survey District, to the sea-coast; thence generally south-westerly, north-westerly, and north-easterly along the sea-coast to the point of commencement. -F.H.W.

Horokiwi Riding.-Commencing at a point on Porirua Harbour at the north-eastern corner of Section 98, Block 8, Paekakariki Survey District, thence generally south-westerly along the shores of the said harbour to the boundary of the County of Makara; thence generally south-easterly and southerly along this boundary to its intersection with the north-western boundary of the Epuni Riding, previously described; thence generally easterly and north-easterly along this boundary to its intersection with Section 269, Block 4, Belmont Survey District; thence north-westerly and north-easterly along the southern and western boundaries of the said Section 269 to the southern boundary of Section 19, Block 4, Belmont Survey District; thence south-westerly by the southern boundaries of Sections 19 and 12, and northerly by the western boundaries of 10 and 6, Block 4, Belmont Survey District, to the southern boundary of Section 2 of the same block; thence south-westerly and northerly along the southern and western boundaries of the said Section 2 to the southern boundary of Section 20, Block 10, Paekakariki Survey District; thence easterly and northerly along the southern and western boundaries of the said Section 18, Block 10, Paekakariki Survey District; thence easterly and northerly along the southern and eastern boundaries of the said Section 17 to the south-western corner of Section 3, Block 10, Paekakariki Survey District; thence north-easterly along the western boundary of the said Sections 3 and 2 of the same block and easterly by the northern boundary of Section 2 to the south-western corner of Section 2 (education reserve), Block 13, Akatarawa Survey District; thence easterly along the southern boundaries of Sections 2 and 4 (education reserve) and Section 6, Block 13, Akatarawa Survey District, to the north-eastern corner of Section 9, Block 13, Akatarawa Survey District; thence south-easterly along the eastern boundaries of Section 9, 23, 26, 27, 28, and 180, Block 13, Akatarawa Survey District, to the southern boundary of Section 21 of the same block; thence south-easterly and north-easterly along the southern boundaries of Sections 21, 20, 213, and 189 of the same block to the southern boundary of Section 177, Block 14, Akatarawa Survey District; thence north-westerly along the south-western boundaries of Sections 177, 214, Block 14, Akatarawa Survey District; thence north-easterly by western boundary of Section 214 to its intersection with the southern boundary of section 421 and north-westerly along the southern boundaries of Sections 421 and 2, Block 14, Akatarawa Survey District, to the western boundary of the said Section 2; thence north-easterly along the western
