Declaring a certain Area at Karioi to be a Sanctuary under the Animals Protection and Game Act, 1921–22, Waimarino Acclimatization District.
CHARLES FERGUSSON, Governor-General.
PURSUANT to the powers vested in me by the Animals Protection and Game Act, 1921–22, I, General Sir Charles Fergusson, Baronet, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the area described in the Schedule hereto shall be a sanctuary for the purposes of the said Act, and that no imported game or native game shall be taken or killed within the said area, except pursuant to an authority granted under section thirty-one or section thirty-two of the said Act; nor shall any person, except under such conditions as may from time to time be prescribed by the Minister, take any dog or firearm into such area, or discharge any firearm or explosive in such area, or do anything likely to cause any imported game or native game to leave such area.
SCHEDULE.
ALL that area in the Wellington Land District bounded by a line commencing at the intersection of the northern boundary of the Karioi Domain and the Waitiki Stream; thence up the middle of that stream to a point distant two miles and a half in a right line from the Karioi Railway Crossing; thence by a line running due west to the Omarae Stream; thence down that stream to the north-western boundary of the Karioi Domain; thence by the north-western and northern boundaries of that domain to the point of commencement.

Changing the Purpose of a Reserve in the Town of Paeroa, Auckland Land District.

WHEREAS the land described in the Schedule hereto has been duly set apart for municipal purposes, being a purpose within Class I of the Second Schedule of the Public Reserves and Domains Act, 1908, and such land is not vested in trust in any society, body corporate, or trustee:
And whereas it is expedient that such land should be appropriated for an addition to a site for a public school, being a purpose within Class III of the said Second Schedule:
Now, therefore, I, General Sir Charles Fergusson, Baronet, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the eleventh section of the Public Reserves and Domains Act, 1908, do by this notification declare that the said land shall from and after the first day of April, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-six, be appropriated for an addition to a site for a public school under Class III of the Public Reserves and Domains Act, 1908; and I do hereby direct that this notification shall be published in the New Zealand Gazette.

AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.
SECTIONS 1, 2, 3, 14, 15, and 16, Block XVII, Town of Paeroa: Area, 1 acre 32 perches.

Changing the Purpose of a Reserve in Block IX, Mangaone Survey District, Wellington Land District.

WHEREAS the land described in the Schedule hereto has been duly set apart as a site for a public cemetery, being a purpose within Class I of the Second Schedule of the Public Reserves and Domains Act, 1908, and such land is not vested in trust in any society, body corporate, or trustees:
And whereas it is expedient that such land should be appropriated for recreation purposes, being a purpose within Class III of the said Second Schedule:
Now, therefore, I, General Sir Charles Fergusson, Baronet, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the eleventh section of the Public Reserves and Domains Act, 1908, do by this notification declare that the said land shall, from and after the twenty-fifth day of March, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-six, be appropriated for recreation purposes under Class III of the Public Reserves and Domains Act, 1908; and I do hereby direct that this notification shall be published in the New Zealand Gazette.

WELLINGTON LAND DISTRICT.
SECTION 32, Block IX, Mangaone Survey District: Area, 10 acres 20 perches.

Opening Lands in the North Auckland Land District for Sale or Selection.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1924, I, General Sir Charles Fergusson, Baronet, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, having received the report of the Under-Secretary in this behalf, as provided by section one hundred and seventy-six of the said Act, do hereby declare that the lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale or selection on Monday, the tenth day of May, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-six; and also that the lands mentioned in the said Schedule may, at the option of the applicant, be purchased for cash, or be selected for occupation with right of purchase, or on renewable lease; and I do hereby also fix the prices at which the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased as mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased under and subject to the provisions of the Land Act, 1924.
SCHEDULE.
NORTH AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.
FIRST-CLASS LAND.
Waitemata County.—Waitemata Survey District.
SECTION 8, Block XIV: Area, 12 acres 1 rood 7 perches. Capital value, £270. Occupation with right of purchase: Half-yearly rent, £6 15s. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £5 8s.
Section is part of the Birdwood Estate, situated between Henderson and Swanson. Access is from Henderson three miles and a half distant by formed road, mostly metalled. When new bridge is constructed will be only one mile to new Metcalfe Railway-station. Land fairly steep, practically all in scrub, and has a fair amount of gorse. Has all been ploughed and grassed, but now gone back. Soil is clay of poor quality resting on sandstone. Fairly well watered by spring and small creek. There are about 15 chains of fencing in good condition. Altitude, 230 ft. to 300 ft. above sea-level.
Section 13, Block XIV: Area, 18 acres 1 rood 10 perches. Capital value, £400. Occupation with right of purchase: Half-yearly rent, £10. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £8.
Section, part of Birdwood Estate, fronting the main road through the block. Access is from Swanson Railway-station, two miles distant, by formed road, half a mile of which is metalled. Undulating land, all more or less ploughable. Has all been grassed, but is going back, and now shows a fair amount of scrub. Soil is clay of fair quality resting on sandstone formation; well watered by swampy creeks. There are about 8 chains of fencing in good condition. Altitude 150 ft. to 220 ft above sea-level.
Waitemata County.—Paremoremo Parish.
Section 295: Area 29 acres 0 roods 3 perches. Capital value, £70. Occupation with right of purchase: Half-yearly rent, £1 15s. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £1 8s.
Situated about one mile and a quarter from Albany Post-office and school. Fairly hilly country with gully at the side. Soil is poor clay on clay formation, watered by creek. Land all unimproved, covered with manuka scrub. Suitable for lemon-growing.
