IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred by section thirteen of the Defence Amendment Act, 1912, I, General Sir Charles Fergusson, Baronet, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby authorize the undermentioned officers to convene General or District Courts-martial for the trial under that Act of such persons subject to military law as are for the time being under or within the territorial limits of their respective commands: and empower such officers to confirm the findings and sentences of General or District Courts-martial, whether passed before or after the issue of this Warrant :—

Major-General Robert Young, C.B., C.M.G., D.S.O., N.Z. Staff Corps, while commanding the New Zealand Military Forces. Dated 7th December, 1925.

Colonel (temp. Colonel-Commandant) Murray Menzies Gard’ner, D.S.O., A.D.C., Royal New Zealand Artillery, while holding the appointment of Officer Commanding the Southern Command. Dated 11th December, 1925.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this 22nd day of February, 1926.

The Financial Instructions and Allowance Regulations for the N.Z. Military Forces amended.


CHARLES FERGUSSON, Governor-General.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authority conferred on me by the Defence Act, 1909, and its amendments, I, General Sir Charles Fergusson, Baronet, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby amend in the manner and to the extent set forth in the Schedule hereto the Financial Instructions and Allowance Regulations for the New Zealand Military Forces published in the Gazette dated 6th August, 1925, and I do hereby declare that the amendment hereby made shall take effect as from the date of publication thereof in the Gazette.


SCHEDULE.

FINANCIAL INSTRUCTIONS AND ALLOWANCE REGULATIONS FOR THE NEW ZEALAND MILITARY FORCES.

The following new regulation is hereby made :—

“111. Warrant officers and non-commissioned officers of the British Army on loan to the New Zealand Government under contract shall receive pay and allowances as follows :—

“(a.) Pay and allowances as laid down for the same arm of the service in the New Zealand Forces, due allowance being made on first appointment for length of service in the rank held.

“(b.) During the currency of such contract, and while not occupying Government quarters, a special allowance at the following scale :—

s. d.

“Married N.C.O.s .. 2 9 per diem.

“Single N.C.O.s .. 1 6 ,,

“Should a recipient of this allowance later become absorbed into the New Zealand Permanent Forces this allowance shall cease.

“(c.) A warrant officer or N.C.O. on loan from the British Army shall be entitled to reasonable medical and dental attention at the expense of the State for himself and his wife and family, under the conditions laid down in the “Regulations for the Medical Services for the Army” during the whole period of his absence from the United Kingdom under his agreement with the New Zealand Government.”

Constituting the Motunau Rabbit-proof Fencing District.

CHARLES FERGUSSON, Governor-General.

WHEREAS a petition in accordance with the provisions of the Rabbit Nuisance Act, 1908 (hereinafter referred to as the said Act) has been presented to His Excellency the Governor-General praying that that part of New Zealand described in the Schedule hereto be declared a rabbit-proof fencing district for the purposes of Part IV of the said Act:

And whereas it is considered expedient to give effect to the prayer of the petitioners:

Now, therefore, I, General Sir Charles Fergusson, Baronet, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority vested in me by the said Act, do hereby constitute and declare that part of New Zealand described in the Schedule hereto to be a rabbit-proof fencing district for the purposes of the said Act, by the name of the Motunau Rabbit-proof Fencing District, and do hereby prescribe that the number of ratepayers of which the Board of Trustees shall consist be three.


SCHEDULE.

ALL that area in the Canterbury Land District, containing approximately 25,000 acres, more or less, situated in the Stonyhurst Survey District, and bounded as follows: Commencing at a point on the foreshore of the South Pacific Ocean, the said point being distant 15 chains from a point on the southern bank of the Black Birch Creek, and from thence by a line extending in a north-westerly direction parallel with the said creek to and across a road and the Happy Valley Road; thence generally in a north-westerly direction through Rural Section 25430 to the boundary-fence between Sir George Clifford on the east and C. R. Campbell on the west as shown on D.P. 3710 and 3713, and by the said fence-line to and across the Glendhu Road, and continuing along the said fence-line in a north-westerly direction to and around a bend in Stonyhurst Road and by the same fence-line to another point on the Stonyhurst Road, the same being on the terrace on the right side of the Greta River; thence by the aforesaid Stonyhurst Road in a westerly direction to a point in line with the north-east boundary of Rural Section 25833; thence north-westerly to and across the Greta River and along the north-east boundary of the aforesaid Rural Section 25833 to a point on the Omihi Valley Road; thence in a south-westerly direction on the south-east side of the aforesaid Omihi Valley Road to its intersection with Motunau Road; thence in a south-easterly direction along the north-eastern side of the aforesaid Motunau Road to and across the Glendhu Road; thence westerly on the south side of said road to western boundary of Rural Section 10651; thence southerly by the last-named boundary to the southern corner of Section 32420; thence north and west generally by the southern boundaries of Sections 32420, 32532, 32950, 33098, and by the north boundary of Section 27698 to and across a road to the western corner of aforesaid Section 27698; thence in a south-easterly direction by the south-western boundaries of Sections 27698 aforesaid and 32936, crossing a road at two points, to a stream abutting the northern boundary of Section 10634; thence by that stream in a westerly direction to a point in line with the south-west boundary of Sections 31828 and 32461; thence to and across a road in a south-easterly direction by the aforesaid boundaries to a point on the Vulcan Road; thence easterly along the northern boundary of that road to a point opposite the western boundary of 30983; thence southerly across Vulcan Road and another road by the western boundary of aforesaid Section 30983; thence easterly along the creek forming the northern boundaries of Sections 27709 and 25836 to a point on the foreshore of the South Pacific Ocean; thence in a north-easterly direction along the foreshore to the commencing-point.

HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve of the following appointments in the New Zealand Division of the Royal Navy :—

Paymaster Commander George Alfred Cooke, R.N., to H.M.S. “Dunedin” as Squadron Accountant Officer, vice Cockrem, as from the date of being relieved in H.M.S. “Diomede.”

Paymaster - Lieutenant - Commander William Mostyn Hawkes, R.N., to H.M.S. “Diomede” (additional), and to that ship vice Cooke, on relieving him.
