Crown Land set apart for Selection by Discharged Soldiers, under Ordinary Tenures, in the Gisborne Land District.

A PROCLAMATION.
IN pursuance of the power and authority conferred upon me by section three of the Discharged Soldiers Settlement Act, 1915, I, General Sir Charles Fergusson, Baronet, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby proclaim and declare that the area of Crown land described in the Schedule hereto shall be and the same is hereby set apart for selection by discharged soldiers, under the Land Act, 1924.
SCHEDULE.
GISBORNE LAND DISTRICT.
ALL that area in the Gisborne Land District, containing by admeasurement 42 acres 2 roods, more or less, being Lot 1 of Section 1 on a plan deposited in the Land Registry Office at Gisborne, and being part of Section 1, Block II, Whangara Survey District. As the same is delineated on plan marked L. and S. 26/2998, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon edged green.
Given under the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, and issued under the Seal of that Dominion, this 23rd day of December, 1925.

Declaring Crown Lands in Westland Mining District, Westland Land District, open for Disposal on Renewable Lease.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by section one hundred and fifty-four of the Land Act, 1924, it is enacted that the Governor-General, by Proclamation, may from time to time declare any Crown lands within any mining district to be open for disposal as provided in section one hundred and fifty-three of the said Act:
Now, therefore, I, General Sir Charles Fergusson, Baronet, Governor - General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in exercise of the power and authority conferred upon me by the one hundred and fifty-fourth section of the said Act, and of every other power and authority in anywise enabling me in this behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that the lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be open on Monday, the twenty-second day of February, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-six, for disposal as provided in section one hundred and fifty-three of the said Act.
SCHEDULE.
WESTLAND LAND DISTRICT.-NATIONAL ENDOWMENT.- WESTLAND MINING DISTRICT.
Grey County.-Brunner Survey District.
SECOND-CLASS LAND.
SECTION 2759, Block III : Area, 468 acres 2 roods ; capital value, £110 ; half-yearly rent, £2 4s.
Weighted with £400, valuation for improvements, consisting of four-roomed house, £175 ; cow-byré, £15 ; 216 chains two-, three-, four- and five-wire fencing, £184 ; 7 acres burned and grassed, £21 ; 1 acre cleared and stumped, £5. This amount may be paid in cash or can remain on mortgage at the rate of 5 per cent. for discharged soldiers and 5½ per cent. for civilians.
Comprises poor pakihi bush-land from which all timber of commercial value has been removed, and consists of flat sideling's and terraces varying in altitude from 380 ft. to 870 ft. above sea-level. Soil is of a clayey nature resting on gravel and is poor throughout. Well watered. Access by dray-road from Kotuku Railway-station and Post-office, a distance of three miles.
THIRD-CLASS LAND.
Section 2760, Block III : Area, 474 acres 1 rood 30 perches ; capital value, £100 ; half-yearly rent, £2.
Weighted with £90, valuation for improvements, consisting of hut, £7 10s.; 60 chains five-wire fencing, £52 10s.; and 40 chains four-wire fencing, £30. This amount may be paid for in cash or can remain on mortgage at the rate of 5 per cent. per annum for discharged soldiers and 5½ per cent. per annum for civilians.
Comprises poor pakihi bush-land from which all timber of commercial value has been removed, and consists of flat sideling's and terrace varying in altitude from 380 ft. to 870 ft. above sea-level. Weighted with £5, valuation for 5 acres felled and grassed.
Comprises about 70 acres of flat land, about 12 acres of which has been cleared, but in places running into second growth, the remainder being steep hillside covered with thick mixed bush of no commercial value, with a dense undergrowth of supplejack, scrub, and fern. Soil of poor quality, resting on a gravel formation. Well watered by creeks. District about one mile from Marsden Post-office and school and about six miles from Paroa Railway-station, by good metalled road.
