faced sans-serif capital letters of not less size than twelve points face-measurement. The word 'pure' or the words 'pure fruit,' either separately or in conjunction with the name or names of the fruit, may be written in such label."

  1. Clause (3) of Regulation 72 of the principal regulations is hereby amended by adding thereto the following subclause :—
    "(c.) The word 'flavoured,' the name of the fruit or vegetable, and the word 'cordial' (or 'syrup') shall appear together in one panel or uniformly faced portion of the label, and all words shall be equally prominent as to contrast with the ground colour on which they are printed, and the word 'cordial' or the word 'syrup' shall be written in bold-faced sans-serif capital letters of not less size than twelve points face-measurement."

  2. Clause (4) of Regulation 73 of the principal regulations is hereby amended by adding thereto the following subclause :—
    "(c.) The word 'artificial,' the name of the flavour, and the word 'cordial' (or 'syrup') shall appear together in one panel or uniformly faced portion of the label, and all words shall be equally prominent as to contrast with the ground colour on which they are printed."

  3. Regulation 74 of the principal regulations is hereby amended by adding thereto the following clause :—

"Labelling.

"(3.) There shall be written in the label attached to every package containing a non-dutiable fermented drink the word 'brewed' or, alternatively, the word 'fermented.'"

  1. Regulation 75 of the principal regulations is hereby revoked, and the following regulation substituted therefor :—

NON-FERMENTED BEVERAGES.

"Pure Fruit Non-fermented Beverages.

"75. (1.) (a.) Pure fruit non-fermented beverages not otherwise standardized in these regulations shall be composed of the juices in their natural condition of sound fruit or fruits, potable water (impregnated or not with carbon dioxide under pressure) with or without the addition of sugar and caramel. They shall not contain any flavouring substance or colouring substance other than those naturally present in the fruit or fruits from which they have been prepared, or any added substance other than water, sugar, caramel, or permitted preservative.

"(b.) Preservatives.—To pure fruit non-fermented beverages the preservative substance (or a preparation of the preservative substance) sulphur dioxide may be added in proportion not exceeding one grain to the pint, or, alternatively, salicylic acid may be added in proportion not exceeding one-half of one grain to the pint.

"(c.) Labelling.—The word 'pure' combined with the name of the fruit or fruits from which the beverage has been prepared may appear on the label attached to any package containing a pure fruit beverage. The word 'beverage,' in bold-faced sans-serif capital letters of not less than ten points face-measurement, shall appear on the label unless the trade name or description under which the beverage is sold clearly indicates that the article is a diluted fruit-juice.

"Flavoured Non-fermented Beverages.

"(2.) (a.) Flavoured non-fermented beverages not otherwise standardized in these regulations shall be composed of potable water, impregnated or not with carbon dioxide under pressure, and with one or more of the following :—

"The natural or concentrated juices of sound fruit or fruits.
"Vegetable extracts or infusions.
"Citric acid.
"Tartaric acid.
"Harmless colouring matters.
"Sugar.

"(b.) Preservatives.—To flavoured non-fermented beverages the preservative substance (or a preparation of the preservative substance) sulphur dioxide may be added in proportion not exceeding one grain of sulphur dioxide to the pint, or, alternatively, salicylic acid may be added in proportion not exceeding one-half of one grain to the pint.

"(c.) Labelling.—There shall be written in the label attached to every package which contains a flavoured non-fermented beverage the words 'Flavoured Beverage' in bold-faced sans-serif capital letters of not less size then eight points face-measurement ; provided that
