when the trade name or description under which the beverage is sold
suggests or implies that it is derived from a fruit and is conjoined with
the suffix 'ade,' or otherwise indicates that the article is diluted so as
to be ready for immediate consumption, the words 'Flavoured Beverage'
may be omitted ; provided further that where in accordance with
clause 19 of these regulations the word 'Carbonated' is written on the
label the words 'Flavoured Beverage' may be omitted.
"(d.) When any flavoured non-fermented beverage is sold under
a name which suggests or implies that it is derived from any fruit, such
name shall be written in the label attached to every package which
contains such a beverage, preceded by the word 'Flavoured' in any one
of the three following forms:--
"(i.) In one line in uniform bold-faced sans-serif capital letters of
not less size than eight points face-measurement; or
"(ii.) In one line in bold-faced sans-serif capital letters, which in
the case of the word 'Flavoured' shall be of not less size
than eight points face-measurement, and in the case of the
fruit name in letters not more than four times the face-
measurement of the letters of the word 'Flavoured'; or
"(iii.) With the word 'Flavoured' immediately above the fruit
name and in bold-faced sans-serif capital letters of not less
size than eighteen points face-measurement.
"The word 'Flavoured' and the fruit name in any one of these
three forms shall appear together in one panel or uniformly faced
portion of the label, all words being equally prominent as to colour
contrast with the ground colour on which they are written, and the
fruit name shall not appear elsewhere in the label unless preceded by
the word 'Flavoured' in bold-faced sans-serif capital letters of not
less than six points face-measurement.
"Artificial Non-fermented Beverages.
"(3.) (a.) Artificial non-fermented beverages shall be composed of
potable water, impregnated or not with carbon dioxide under pressure,
and combined with one or more of the following:—
"Harmless flavourings.
"The natural or concentrated juices of sound fruit or fruits.
"Vegetable extractives or infusions.
"Citric acid.
"Tartaric acid.
"Harmless colouring-matters.
"Sugar.
"(b.) Preservatives.—To artificial non-fermented beverages the
preservative substance (or a preparation of the preservative sub-
stance) sulphur dioxide may be added in proportion not exceeding
one grain of sulphur dioxide to the pint.
"(c.) Labelling.—There shall be written on the label attached to
every package which contains an artificial non-fermented beverage the
words 'Artificial Beverage' in bold-faced sans-serif capital letters
of not less size than ten points face-measurement; provided that
when the trade name or description under which the beverage is sold
suggests or implies that it is derived from a fruit or a vegetable and
is conjoined with the suffix 'ade,' or otherwise indicates that the
article is diluted so as to be ready for immediate consumption, the
words 'Artificial Beverage' may be omitted.
"(d.) When an artificial non-fermented beverage is sold under a
name which suggests or implies that it is derived from any fruit or
vegetable, the name of such fruit or vegetable shall be written in the
label attached to every package which contains such a beverage,
preceded by the word 'Artificial' in any one of the three following
forms:—
"(i.) In one line in uniform bold-faced sans-serif capital letters
of not less size than ten points face-measurement; or
"(ii.) In one line in bold-faced sans-serif capital letters, which in
the case of the word 'Artificial' shall be of not less size
than ten points face-measurement, and in the case of the
fruit or vegetable name in letters not more than three
times the face-measurement of the letters of the word
'Artificial'; or
"(iii.) With the word 'Artificial' immediately above the fruit or
vegetable name and in bold-faced sans-serif capital letters
of not less size than eighteen points face-measurement.
