NOTICE is hereby given that the Register of New Zealand 5½ per-cent. Inscribed Stock, maturing 15th January, 1933, will be closed from the 1st to the 15th January, 1926, inclusive, for the purpose of the issue of half-yearly interest.

Results of Polls for Proposed Loans.

THE following notices, received from the Chairman of the Council of the County of Franklin, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913.

FRANKLIN COUNTY COUNCIL.

PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that a poll of the ratepayers of the Kohekohe-Te Toro Wharf Special-rating Area of Franklin County was taken on the 19th day of October, 1925, on the proposal of the Franklin County Council to borrow the sum of £650 for the purpose of erecting a new wharf and shed and the construction of a breastwork at Te Toro Landing Reserve, Manukau Harbour.

The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 22; the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 49.

I therefore declare that the proposal was rejected.

PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that a poll of the ratepayers of the Glenbrook District Special-rating Area of Franklin County was taken on the 16th day of November, 1925, on the proposal of the Franklin County Council to borrow the sum of £2,000 for the purpose of forming and metalling the following roads: (a) Waiuku–Drury Road from Glenbrook Hall to Conroy’s corner; (b) Tramway Road from Ti Ti corner to Glenbrook Station.

The number of vote recorded for the proposal was 57; the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 8.

I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that a poll of the ratepayers of the Waiau Pa District Special-rating Area of Franklin County was taken on the 16th day of November, 1925, on the proposal of the Franklin County Council to borrow the sum of £4,400 for the purpose of forming and metalling the following roads: (a) Clark’s Road (Waiau); (b) Waiau Pa Post-office to MacKenzie’s Landing Road.

The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 26; the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 35.

I therefore declare that the proposal was rejected.

PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that a poll of the ratepayers of the Whangarata–Pokeno (New) Main Road Special-rating Area of Franklin County was taken on the 16th day of November, 1925, on the proposal of the Franklin County Council to borrow the sum of £3,500 for the purpose of the survey, legalization, formation, and metalling of a new road from Whangarata to Pokeno.

The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 97; the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 82.

I therefore declare that the proposal was rejected.

THE following notice, received from the Chairman of the Board of the Hawke’s Bay Electric-power District, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913.

HAWKE’S BAY ELECTRIC-POWER BOARD.

PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of that part of the Hawke’s Bay Electric-power District comprised in the constituent districts of the Hawke’s Bay County and Taradale Town District taken on the 10th day of November, 1925, on the proposal of the Hawke’s Bay Electric-power Board to borrow £300,000 for the purposes following, videlicet:—

(a.) For supplying and distributing electric energy to and for the benefit of that part of the Hawke’s Bay Electric-power District comprised in the constituent districts of the Hawke’s Bay County and Taradale Town District; to establish, acquire, and carry out within such constituent districts as aforesaid the following works and undertakings, namely: the erection of generating-works, the construction of transmission and distributing lines and substations, the purchase and erection of all necessary equipment, motors, works, plants, machinery, apparatus, motor-vehicles and conveyances, materials, lands, rights, and buildings, office furnishings, fittings, and requisites, the purchase of existing electrical installations, reticulations, and plants; and to provide for the cost of survey and other preliminary works and expenses of administration; and to generally exercise its rights and powers as may be deemed expedient by the Board under the authority of the Electric-power Boards Act, 1918, and its amendments—£275,000.

(b.) To provide money to install electrical and other equipment for consumers within such constituent districts aforesaid as provided for under section 88 of the Electric-powers Board Act, 1918, and its amendments, and to provide money to purchase electrical and other equipment, to sell to consumers within such constituents districts aforesaid as provided for under section 90 of the Electric-power Boards Act, 1918, and its amendments—£25,000.

Total—£300,000.

The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 624; the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 66; the number of informal votes was 1.

And I hereby declare that the said proposal was carried.

Belfast Town Hall Loan Proposal.

Notice is hereby given that the result of a poll of ratepayers of the Belfast Riding of the Waimairi County on a proposal to raise a loan of £6,000 for the purpose of erecting a town hall at Belfast was taken on 26th November, 1925, as follows:—

The total number of valid votes cast for the proposal, 35; against the proposal, 142.

I therefore declare that the proposal was rejected.
