And whereas an application has been made by the Pukekohe Borough Council in accordance with the provisions of the said Act, and it appears expedient to grant the said application:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon him by the said Act, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby declare the Borough of Pukekohe to be a fire district under the said Act.

Post Office Savings-bank Regulations. Letters of Credit.

IN pursuance and exercise of the power and authority vested in him by the Post and Telegraph Act, 1908, and of all other powers and authorities enabling him in that behalf, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby make the regulations set forth in the Schedule hereto, providing, in respect of accounts of depositors in the Post Office Savings-bank, for the withdrawing of moneys by means of letters of credit ; and doth order and declare that the regulations hereby made shall have effect on and after the first day of December, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-five.
SCHEDULE.
(1.) THESE regulations may be cited as the Post Office Savings-bank Amendment Regulations, 1925, and shall be read with and form part of the Post Office Savings-bank Regulations, 1913, and the amendments thereof heretofore made.
(2.) A depositor in the Post Office Savings-bank residing in New Zealand and requiring funds at any one or more of the several places in New Zealand at which there are branches of the Post Office Savings-bank may withdraw from his account by means of a letter of credit for a sum up to £50. The depositor may then present the letter of credit at any one of the various savings-bank offices and obtain such moneys as he may require within the limits authorized.
(3.) There shall be charged for the letter of credit an amount equal to the commission applicable on the date of issue of the letter of credit to a remittance by money-order within New Zealand.
(4.) The Postmaster-General may, in his discretion, require proof to his satisfaction of the identity of any person applying for payment of a letter of credit.
(5.) The provisions of the Post Office Savings-bank Regulations, 1913, and the amendments thereof, relating to payment of withdrawals by telegraph shall not apply to withdrawals by means of a letter of credit.

Appointing a Member of the Lyttelton Harbour Board.

WHEREAS it is provided by subsection two of section thirty-eight of the Harbours Act, 1923, that in the event of an extraordinary vacancy in the office of an elective member of a Harbour Board other than a representative of a constituent district, the Governor-General may, by Warrant under his hand, appoint some qualified person in his place.
And whereas, in exercise of the hereinbefore-recited power and authority, Alexander John Magson was on the seventh day of August, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-four, appointed to be a member of the Lyttelton Harbour Board, as a representative of the combined district of Ashburton County and Ashburton Borough, in the place of Thomas Alexander Blackley, deceased :
And whereas the said Alexander John Magson is deceased, and it is desirable to appoint a qualified person in his place:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in exercise of the hereinbefore-recited power and authority, doth hereby appoint William Glaffey Gallagher to be a member of the Lyttelton Harbour Board as a representative of the combined district of Ash-
burton County and Ashburton Borough, in the place of the said Alexander John Magson, deceased.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this 30th day of November, 1925.
