Correction.—Teachers’ Appeal Board.—Grading of Primary-school Teachers.

IT is hereby notified that the notice dated 15th May, 1925, published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 38, of the 21st May, 1925, regarding the members of the Primary Teachers’ Grading Appeal Board, is cancelled. The Appeal Board set up for the year 1925 to hear appeals in connection with the grading of primary-school teachers will consist of—

Notification of Vacancy of Seat in the House of Representatives for the Electoral District of Franklin.

IN compliance with the provisions of section 99 of the Legislature Act, 1908, I, Charles Ernest Statham, Speaker of the House of Representatives of New Zealand, hereby notify that the Right Honourable William Ferguson Massey, a member of the House of Representatives for the Electoral District of Franklin, died on the 10th day of May, 1925, during a recess of the House, and that the said seat in the House of Representatives for the said electoral district is vacant by reason of such death.

Notice to Mariners No. 42 of 1925.

NEW ZEALAND.—SOUTH ISLAND.—FOVEAUX STRAIT.—BLUFF HARBOUR.

Wellington, N.Z., 26th May, 1925.

Obstruction reported to exist.

THE Bluff Harbour Board notify the existence of a rock having a depth of 13¾ ft. over it at M.L.W.S. in the following position:—
159·3°, 320 ft. from No. 3 Red Beacon, and
311°, 770 ft. from No. 2 Red Beacon.

This rock is situated 265 ft. on the northern side of the Main Channel Leading Beacons in transit, and soundings of 28 ft. exist close on the southern or Main Channel side of the rock.

This obstruction has not previously been reported in a Notice to Mariners, and it is quite separate and apart from the obstructions recently reported in Notice to Mariners No. 36 as published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 27 of 30th April, 1925, and the attention of mariners is now drawn to the information contained in that notice.

Notice to Mariners No. 43 of 1925.

NEW ZEALAND.—SOUTH ISLAND.—FOVEAUX STRAIT.—BLUFF HARBOUR.

Wellington, N.Z., 27th May, 1925.

Obstruction reported to exist.

ADVERTING to Notice to Mariners No. 42 of yesterday’s date, the Bluff Harbour Board further report the existence of a sunken rock in the following position:—
287°, 895 ft. from No. 1 Red Beacon, and 156·2°, 790 ft. from No. 2 Red Beacon.

There is 21 ft. over this rock at M.L.W.S., and it is situated 70 ft. southward of the Main Channel Leading Beacons in transit.

Attention of mariners is drawn to the information contained in Notice to Mariners No. 36 of 30th April, 1925.

Prescribing River and Extended-river Limits for Auckland.

Marine Department,
Wellington, 22nd May, 1925.

IN pursuance and exercise of the power and authority conferred upon me by section 189 of the Shipping and Seamen Act, 1908, I, George James Anderson, Minister of Marine, do hereby define the limits in respect of the port or harbour of Auckland within which restricted-limit steamships, and ships propelled by gas, oil, fluid, electricity, or any mechanical power other than steam, and to which restricted limit certificates are issued, may ply, to be as follows:—

River Limits.—Inside Rangitoto Reef, Motukoreho Channel, Motuihi Channel inside a right line drawn from Home Bay Point to the northern point of the entrance to Maiteatea Bay, Tamaki Strait, not beyond Kohorunui Point, and inside Waiheke Channel.

Extended River Limits.—Inside a right line drawn from Hautapu Point on the Coromandel Peninsula to Shearer Rock off Tiritiri Island, and thence to Tawharanui Point.

Appointing Saturday as the Statutory Closing-day in the Borough of Waipukurau.

WHEREAS a poll to determine the statutory closing-day in the Borough of Waipukurau was duly taken under the authority of section 20 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, on the 29th day of April, 1925:

And whereas the Town Clerk of the Borough of Waipukurau has notified me that the majority of the votes given at such poll were in favour of the appointment of Saturday as the statutory closing-day in the said borough:

Now, therefore, I, George James Anderson, Minister of Labour, in pursuance of section 20 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, do hereby appoint Saturday as the statutory closing-day in the said borough as from the 1st day of June, 1925.
