been transferred to the control and management of the said
Matehaere Pakou, and to hear and determine as between
Natives any claim to recover damages in respect thereof,
with power and jurisdiction to make such order or orders as
the circumstances of the case may require, and to enforce
compliance therewith as fully and effectually as if the order
was one within the ordinary jurisdiction of the Court.

Setting aside Native Land as a Native Reservation.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House at Wellington, this 25th day of
May, 1925.
Present:

His Excellency the Governor-General in Council.
WHEREAS by section two hundred and thirty-two of
the Native Land Act, 1909, it is enacted, inter alia,
that when any Native freehold land is owned at law or in
equity by more than ten owners in common the Governor-
General may, by Order in Council, set apart and reserve any
part of that land for the common use of the owners thereof
as in the said Act provided :
And whereas the Native Land Court has recommended that
the land described in the Schedule hereto be set apart and
reserved under the provisions of section two hundred and
thirty-two of the Native Land Act, 1909, for the common
use of the owners thereof as a village, meeting-place, church-
site, building-site, and recreation-ground :
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of
the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of
the power and authority hereinbefore mentioned, and all
other powers thereunto him enabling, and acting by and with
the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said
Dominion, doth hereby set apart and reserve for the common
use of the owners thereof as a village, meeting-place, church-
site, building-site, and recreation-ground, the Native freehold
land described in the Schedule hereto, to be a Native reser-
vation within the meaning of the said Act.

SCHEDULE.

All that area of land in the Borough of Te Kuiti, called or
known as Pukenui 2v 1 Block, containing an area of 5 acres,
and being the whole of the land comprised in a partition
order of the Native Land Court dated the 28th January, 1925.

Validating Proceedings in connection with Poll taken to decide
Statutory Closing-day for Shops in Borough of Akaroa.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House at Wellington, this 25th day of
May, 1925.
Present:

His Excellency the Governor-General in Council.
WHEREAS pursuant to the Shops and Offices Act, 1921-
22, and the Local Elections and Polls Act, 1908, a
poll of electors was taken in the Borough of Akaroa on the
twenty-ninth day of April, one thousand nine hundred and
twenty-five, to decide which working-day in each week
should be the statutory closing-day for shops in the Borough
of Akaroa:
And whereas the proceedings in connection with the said
poll were irregular in that, although public notice of the said
poll was given by the Returning Officer, such notice was given
after the time required by section forty-one of the said Local
Elections and Polls Act, 1908:
And whereas it is desirable to validate the irregularity
aforesaid:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of
the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of
the powers and authorities conferred on him by section
twenty-four of the Local Elections and Polls Amendment Act,
1913, and of all other powers and authorities enabling him
in that behalf, and acting by and with the advice and consent
of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby
order and declare that the proceedings in connection with the
said poll shall be valid to all intents and purposes as though
the Returning Officer had given public notice thereof not

later than the time prescribed by section forty-one of the said
Local Elections and Polls Act, 1908; and that the validity
of the proceedings in connection with the said poll shall not
be called in question by reason only of the irregularity afore-
said.

Apportionment of Representation on the South Taranaki Electric-
power Board.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House at Wellington, this 25th day of
May, 1925.
Present:
His Excellency the Governor-General in Council.
In pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities
conferred upon him by the Electric-power Boards Act,
1918, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion
of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent
of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby
determine with respect to the South Taranaki Electric-power
District, being an electric-power district duly constituted by
Proclamation dated the twenty-fourth day of April, one thou-
sand nine hundred and twenty-five, and published in the New
Zealand Gazette No. 27, of the thirtieth day of April, one
thousand nine hundred and twenty-five, that the number of
representatives of each constituent district on the Board of
the said district shall be the number specified in the Schedule
hereto opposite the name of that constituent district.

Declaring an Area at Pahiatua, the Property of Mr. Samuel
Bolton, to be a Sanctuary under the Animals Protection and
Game Act, 1921-22, Wellington Acclimatization District.

CHARLES FERGUSSON, Governor-General.
PURSUANT to the powers vested in me by the Animals
Protection and Game Act, 1921-22, I, General Sir
Charles Fergusson, Baronet, Governor-General of the Do-
minion of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the area
described in the Schedule hereto shall be a sanctuary for the
purposes of the said Act, and that no imported game or
native game shall be taken or killed within the said area,
except pursuant to an authority granted under section thirty-
one or section thirty-two of the said Act ; nor shall any person,
except under such conditions as may from time to time be
prescribed by the Minister, take any dog or firearm into such
area, or discharge any firearm or explosive in such area, or
do anything likely to cause any imported game or native
game to leave such area.

SCHEDULE.

All that area in the Wellington Land District bounded by
a line commencing at the confluence of the Manawatu and
Mangatainoka Rivers, and proceeding thence up the left
bank of the Manawatu River to a point in line with the
north-eastern boundary of Section 65 (Road and River-bank
Protection Reserve), Block I, Makuri Survey District ; thence
to and along that boundary to the south-eastern corner of
the said Section 65 ; thence northerly along the road forming
the south-eastern boundary of the said Section 65, to a point
in line with the south-eastern boundary of Section 2A, Block I,
Makuri Survey District ; thence to and along that boundary
and its production to the Tiraumea River ; thence down the
Tiraumea and Mangatainoka Rivers to the confluence of the
Manawatu and Mangatainoka Rivers, the place of commence-
ment.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-
General, this 21st day of May, 1925.
