attendance is more than thirty a male assistant teacher with a salary of Grade 4, and a female assistant teacher with a salary of Grade 2, with an additional £30.

(ix.) Assistant mistress in charge of Model III, with salary of Grade 2, with an additional £30.

(x.) Assistant mistress in charge of Model IV, with salary of Grade 2. Provided that where circumstances render it advisable the staffing and salaries for a normal school as prescribed in this clause may, with the approval of the Minister, be modified in such manner as he shall determine.

(3.) All the members of the staff of the normal school shall be deemed to be also members of the staff of the training college, and shall take such part in the tuition, training, and supervision of the students as the Principal may direct; in general, it shall be the duty, inter alia, of the staff of the training college as thus defined to conduct the various courses of the curriculum as defined in clause 22 hereof.

(4.) Every associated normal teacher shall, in addition to the salary and allowances otherwise receivable by him, receive by way of salary under these regulations such sum not exceeding £50 per annum as the Minister shall approve.

(5.) A married assistant on the staff of a normal school shall be entitled to additional salary of £50 per annum in the same manner as if he were an assistant in a public school other than a normal school.

(6.) (a). Any teacher, other than the head teacher, on the staff of a normal school shall receive by way of addition to the salary hereinbefore provided such grading addition as he would have been entitled to receive under the regulations relating to salaries of public-school teachers if he were a teacher on the staff of a public school other than a normal school: Provided that the kindergarten mistress shall be placed in Grading Group 5, and the assistant in charge of Model I in Grading Group 4.

(b.) Any teacher, other than the head teacher, on the staff of a normal school not entitled to an addition to his salary as provided in paragraph (a) of this subclause shall receive by way of addition to the salary otherwise payable under these regulations an amount not exceeding in any case £50 per annum, as may be approved by the Minister.

(7.) A teacher other than the head teacher on the staff of a normal school shall be entitled to the same annual increment as public-school teachers of the same grade. Those not receiving grade salaries will receive annual increments of £15.

(8.) The provisions of the regulations relating to public-school teachers respecting commencing salaries, salaries on transfer, leave of absence, and annual increments shall apply, mutatis mutandis, to teachers on the staffs of normal schools; and should any dispute or difficulty arise respecting the meaning or effect of the regulations as amended by this Order the question shall be submitted to the Minister, whose decision thereon shall be final.

(9.) The grades of salaries referred to in this clause are the grades of salaries prescribed for assistant teachers of public schools.

(10.) This clause shall be deemed to have been in operation as from the 1st day of April, 1924.

  1. (1.) The following grants shall be paid to the Board:—

(a.) For the incidental expenses of the normal schools, the same grants as are prescribed under the Act for public schools with the same average attendance.

(b.) For the incidental expenses of the training college, including a grant towards the library, such an allowance not exceeding £500 per annum as the Minister may approve, together with a grant not exceeding £100 per annum for clerical assistance in the training college.

(c.) Where expert assistance not provided by the regular staff of the training college is found to be required for instruction of students in manual work, elocution, singing, and other special subjects, such additional grants not exceeding £200 per annum as the Minister may approve.

(d.) For material approved by the Director as necessary for the instruction of the students in science and handwork, such annual grants as may be required.

(e.) For fittings and permanent apparatus for use in the instruction of students in science and handwork, such grants as the Minister may from time to time determine; provided that the purchase of such fittings and apparatus is first approved by the Director.

(2.) Every training college shall be open at all times to the visits of the Director or Assistant Director, or of any Inspector, or of any member of the Committee of Advice, or of any other person appointed by the Minister to visit such training college.
