HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve of the appointments, promotions, resignations, and transfers of the undermentioned officers of the Regiment of Royal New Zealand Artillery and Territorial Force :—
THE REGIMENT OF ROYAL N.Z. ARTILLERY.
Captain R. S. Park relinquishes the appointment of Officer-in-charge Harbour Defences, Northern Command, and proceeds abroad to undergo a two years’ Gunnery Staff course at Artillery College, Woolwich, and is seconded while so employed. Dated 9th September, 1924.
1ST N.Z. MOUNTED RIFLES (CANTERBURY YEOMANRY CAVALRY).
Lieutenant K. H. English, from the 5th N.Z. Mounted Rifles (Otago Hussars), to be Lieutenant, with seniority as from the 9th July, 1924.
Lieutenant L. H. Sumpter is transferred to the 5th N.Z. Mounted Rifles (Otago Hussars). Dated 3rd September, 1924.
5TH N.Z. MOUNTED RIFLES (OTAGO HUSSARS).
Lieutenant L. H. Sumpter, from the 1st N.Z. Mounted Rifles (Canterbury Yeomanry Cavalry), to be Lieutenant, with seniority as from the 29th September, 1922.
Lieutenant D. A. Solomon, from the Otago Regiment (4th C. Battalion), to be Lieutenant. Dated 21st August, 1924.
Lieutenant K. H. English is transferred to the 1st N.Z. Mounted Rifles (Canterbury Yeomanry Cavalry). Dated 26th August, 1924.

N.Z. MEDICAL CORPS.
Captain T. G. Gray, M.B., is attached for duty to the Nelson, Marlborough, and West Coast Regiment. Dated 25th August, 1924.

N.Z. VETERINARY CORPS.
Captain R. Finch, M.R.C.V.S. Eng., relinquishes his commission on appointment to the Army Veterinary Corps, Territorial Force, England. Dated 10th September, 1915.
N.Z. CHAPLAINS DEPARTMENT.
The Ven. Archdeacon J. A. Jacob, O.B.E., Chaplain 3rd Class Reserve List, Class II, is posted to the Retired List under the provisions of General Order 184/21, with permission to wear the prescribed uniform. Dated 27th August, 1924.
The Reverend A. A. Armstrong, Chaplain 4th Class, is transferred to the Reserve List, Class II, R.D. 1. Dated 6th August, 1924.

THE following notice, received from the Mayor of the Borough of Stratford, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913.

STRATFORD BOROUGH COUNCIL.
PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that a poll of the ratepayers of the Borough of Stratford was taken on the 27th day of August, 1924, on the proposal of the Stratford Borough Council to borrow the sum of £25,000 for the following purposes, namely :—
(a.) To provide additions and extensions to the electric lighting and power works, either within or without the borough, and to supply electricity, and in connection with such additions and extensions to purchase or otherwise acquire all such freehold or leasehold lands, easements, engines, machinery, poles, lines, plant, equipment, appliances, materials, and other things, and to erect all such buildings, engines, machinery, poles, lines, plant, equipment, and appliances as may be considered necessary ; to make all such alterations and additions to the power-houses, sub-stations, buildings, machinery, plant, equipment, and appliances, and to the reticulation, and the transmission, distribution, and service lines, and the existing installations and electric apparatus that may be deemed necessary owing to any change-over of the system of supply or method of distribution of electricity, or otherwise, howsoever, and extensions of the transmission and distribution lines ; and any other purposes incidental or in relation to any of the above purposes : £22,000.
(b.) To make advances to the owner or occupier of any premises for the purpose of enabling him to connect such premises with any electric-light main, and to provide the necessary service lines, fittings, and meters : £3,000.
Total : £25,000.
The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 240 ; the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 35 ; informal votes, Nil.
I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.
