Land reserved under the Scenery Preservation Act, 1908.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS the Scenery Preservation Board, constituted pursuant to the Scenery Preservation Act, 1908 (hereinafter referred to as “the said Act”), has recommended that the land described in the Schedule hereto should be permanently reserved for scenic purposes, and it is expedient to give effect to such recommendation:

Now, therefore, I, John Rushworth, Viscount Jellicoe, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred by the said Act, do hereby proclaim and declare that the land described in the Schedule hereto shall be a scenic reserve under the said Act, and subject to the provisions thereof.

SCHEDULE.

NORTH AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.

SECTION 43, Block X, Takahue Survey District: Area, 17 acres.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, and issued under the Seal of that Dominion, this 15th day of September, 1924.

Land proclaimed as a Road, and Road closed, in Block VIII, Pakiri Survey District, North Auckland Land District.

A PROCLAMATION.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred by section eleven of the Land Act, 1908, I, John Rushworth, Viscount Jellicoe, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby proclaim as a road the land described in the First Schedule hereto; and also do hereby proclaim as closed the road described in the Second Schedule hereto.

FIRST SCHEDULE.

LAND PROCLAIMED AS A ROAD.

APPROXIMATE areas of the pieces of land proclaimed as a road:—

Land taken for the Purposes of a Road in Blocks XI and XII, Nuhaka North Survey District.

A PROCLAMATION.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities vested in me by the Public Works Act, 1908, and of every other power and authority in anywise enabling me in this behalf, I, John Rushworth, Viscount Jellicoe, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby proclaim and declare that the land described in the Schedule hereto is hereby taken for the purposes of a road; and I do also declare that this Proclamation shall take effect on and after the 26th day of September, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-four.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, and issued under the Seal of that Dominion, this 13th day of September, 1924.

Prisons closed.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by an Act of the General Assembly of New Zealand intituled the Prisons Act, 1908, it is enacted that the Governor-General may, by Proclamation in the New Zealand Gazette, declare that any prison shall no longer be a prison; and upon the gazetting of such Proclamation, or from and after any later date fixed in such Proclamation for the purpose, such prison shall cease to be a prison:

Now, therefore, I, John Rushworth, Viscount Jellicoe, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance of the above-recited power and authority, do hereby declare that, from and after the gazetting of this Proclamation, prisons situated on the land described in the Schedule hereto shall cease to be prisons.

SCHEDULE.

  1. THE buildings and huts situated north of the Main North Road, near the section boundary-line of Section 25, Block II, Lyndon Survey District, Hanmer Plain Reserve, and all enclosures used or occupied therewith; known as the Hanmer Springs Prison.

  2. The buildings and huts situated on all that area in the Canterbury Land District, containing by admeasurement 754 acres 2 roods, more or less, situated in Lyndon Survey District, bounded towards the north and east by Run No. 17; towards the south by the said Run No. 17 and Section 43, Block II, and towards the west generally by the road forming the eastern boundaries of Sections 36, 35, and 33, Block II, by Jollie’s Pass Reserve, and a public road; and all enclosures used or occupied therewith; known as the Hanmer Springs Prison.

  3. The buildings and huts erected upon the land known as Block X, Kaingaroa Survey District, and situated in the Auckland Land District, and all enclosures used or occupied therewith; known as the Kaingaroa Prison.

  4. The buildings and huts situated on land known as the State Forest Reserve, situated in Blocks I, II, V, VI, and X, Tarawera Survey District, in the Auckland Land District, on the north-western shore of Rotokakahi Lake, and all enclosures used of occupied therewith; known as the Waipa Prison.

  5. The buildings and huts situated on land known as Run No. 76, being portion of Blocks V and VI, Tarawera Survey District, in the Province of Auckland, on the banks of the Waipa Stream, and all enclosures used or occupied therewith; known as the Waipa Valley Prison.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, and issued under the Seal of that Dominion, this 5th day of September, 1924.
