makes and levies a special rate of five thirty-seconds (5/32nds) of a penny in the pound sterling on the rateable value (on the basis of the unimproved value) of all rateable property in the Borough of Devonport; and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable yearly on the first day of April in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of twenty (20) years, or until the loan is fully paid off.

That, for the purpose of providing for the payment of interest, sinking fund, and other charges on the Devonport Borough Fire Brigade Station Loan of £2,500, 1924, authorized to be raised by the Devonport Borough Council under the above-mentioned Act, for the purpose of the erection of a fire-brigade station, the said Devonport Borough Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of one-sixteenth (1/16th) of a penny in the pound sterling on the rateable value (on the basis of the unimproved value) of all rateable property in the Borough of Devonport; and that such special rate shall be an annually recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable yearly on the first day of April in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of twenty (20) years, or until the loan is fully paid off.

NOTICE is hereby given, in pursuance of section 230 of the Companies Act, 1908, that a general meeting of the members of the above-named company will be held at the office of the Liquidator, Chamber of Commerce Board-room, Express Company's Building, Bond Street, Dunedin, on Monday, the eighteenth day of August, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-four, at 4 o'clock p.m., for the purpose of having an account laid before them showing the manner in which the winding-up has been conducted and the assets of the company disposed of, and of hearing any explanation that may be given by the Liquidator, and also of determining by extraordinary resolution the manner in which the books, accounts, and documents of the Company and of the Liquidator thereof shall be disposed of.

EKETAHUNA BOROUGH COUNCIL.

RESOLUTION MAKING SPECIAL RATE.-EKETAHUNA-MAKAKAHI BRIDGE LOAN OF £3,250.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1923, the Eketahuna Borough Council hereby resolves as follows:-

That, for the purpose of providing the instalments in respect on interest and also other charges on a Loan of £3,250 authorized to be raised by the Eketahuna Borough Council under the Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1913, for the purpose of dismantling the present Eketahuna-Parkville Bridge and re-erecting a concrete structure to take its place, the aforesaid Eketahuna Borough Council hereby makes and levies an annually recurring special rate of seven-eights of the penny (7d.) in the pound sterling upon the unimproved value of all the rateable property situated within the whole of the Borough of Eketahuna ; and that such special rate shall be an annually recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable yearly on the first day of April in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of thirty-six and a half (36½) years, or until the loan is fully paid off.

NOTICE OF INTENTION TO TAKE LAND FOR A ROAD-METAL AND GRAVEL DEPOT AND FOR A ROAD THROUGH THAT PIECE OF LAND KNOWN AS SECTION 196, PARISH OF KARAMU.

NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed by the Raglan County Council under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1908, to execute a certain public work--to wit, the construction of a road-metal and gravel depot, and a road through that piece of land known as Section 196, Parish of Karamu, in Blocks III and VII of the Survey District of Alexandra, and for the purpose of such public work the lands described in the Schedule hereto are required to be taken; and notice is further given that the plan of the said road-metal and gravel depot and of the said roads and of the lands so required to be taken is deposited for public inspection at the office of the Raglan County Council at Ngaruawahia, and is there open for inspection; and notice is also hereby given that all persons affected by the execution of such public work or by the taking of such lands shall, if they have any well-grounded objections to the execution of the said public work or to the taking of such lands set forth the same in writing, and send such written objections within forty days from the first publication of this notice to the Raglan County Council at Ngaruawahia.

RESOLUTION MAKING SPECIAL RATE.-AUSTIN'S SPECIAL LOAN AREA.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1913, the Whangarei County Council hereby resolves as follows:-

That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £450, authorized to be raised by the Whangarei County Council under the above-mentioned Act, for the purpose of forming and metalling what is known as Austin's Road in the Maunu Riding, the Whangarei County Council makes and levies a special rate of one penny (1d.) in the £1 upon the rateable value of all rateable property within the said Austin's Special-rating area, comprising all the area and rateable property within the boundaries of the following lines : Commencing at a point in angle of the Main Maunu Road in Block XVI, Purua Survey District, such road forming the northern boundary of Waihoanga No. 1, thence by a straight line to the north-eastern corner of Waipuna No. 2 (963A) ; thence south by the eastern boundary-line of Waipuna No. 2 to its south-eastern corner where it junctions with branch of the Hihi Stream ; thence easterly for approximately 15 chains along the said stream ; thence south-easterly by a straight line to the northern boundary corner of Ruarangi Block (containing 39 acres) ; thence by the western, southern, and eastern corner boundary ; thence in a southerly direction to the middle of the north-western boundary-line of allotment No. 2 (23 acres), being a creek ; thence south-westerly along the bank of creek to where it intersects with the northern boundary-line of Otaika No. 4c (6186c.) ; thence due west along the northern boundary of Otaika No. 4c (6186c.) to its north-western boundary corner ; thence generally westerly along the southern boundary of allotments No. 5 (978½ acres), Allotment No. 3 (392¾ acres), and Allotment No. 2 (285 acres), to its western boundary corner in Block XV, Purua Survey District ; thence northerly by the western boundary of Allotment No. 2 (285 acres), Waipuna No. 1 (963) to the north-western corner of the latter ; thence easterly to a point half-way along the northern boundary of the said Waipuna No. 1 ; thence due north by a straight line to a point in the Main Maunu Road approximately 10 chains west of Austin's Road turn-off ; thence easterly along the Maunu Main Road to bend in that road, being the point of commencement. That such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and shall be payable yearly on the 1st day of September in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of 36½ years, or until the loan is fully paid off.
