the Collingwood-Bainham Road and proceeding thence
generally in a northerly direction via Aorere River Bridge,
and terminating at the northern end of the Pakawau River
Bridge, passing through Collingwood County, being a distance
of nine miles, more or less.

Nelson-Blenheim : All that road known as the Nelson-
Blenheim Road, commencing at the northern boundary of
the City of Nelson and proceeding thence generally in a north-
easterly and south-easterly direction via Lud Valley, Whanga-
moa Saddle, Collins River Valley, Rai Saddle, Lower Rai
Valley, Lower Pelorus Valley, Havelock, Okaramio, Wairau
River Bridge, Renwicktown, and terminating at the western
boundary of the Borough of Blenheim, passing through the
Counties of Waimea and Marlborough, being a distance of
seventy-four miles, more or less.

Blenheim-Christchurch : All that portion of the road
known as Blenheim-Christchurch Road, commencing at the
southern boundary of the Borough of Blenheim and pro-
ceeding thence generally in a south-easterly direction via
the Redwood Pass, and terminating at the northern boundary
of the Awatere County, passing through the County of Marl-
borough, being a distance of seventeen miles, more or less.

Blenheim-Picton : All that road known as the Blenheim-
Picton Road, commencing at the northern boundary of the
Borough of Blenheim and proceeding thence generally in a
northerly direction via Spring Creek, Tuamarina, and ter-
minating at the southern boundary of the Borough of Picton,
passing through the County of Marlborough, being a distance
of seventeen miles, more or less.

As the said public highways are more particularly delineated
on the plan marked M.H. 44, deposited in the office of the
Main Highways Board at Wellington, in the Wellington Land
District, and thereon coloured blue.

Declaring Public Highways in the No. 12 Highway District to
be Main Highways.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this 9th day
of June, 1924.
Present:
THE HONOURABLE SIR FRANCIS BELL PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities
vested in him by section three of the Main Highways
Act, 1922, and of all other powers in anyway enabling him in
this behalf, His Excellency the Governor-General of the
Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice
and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion,
doeth hereby declare that on and after the date of this
Order in Council the public highways mentioned in the
Schedule hereto shall be main highways within the meaning
and for the purpose of the Main Highways Act, 1922.

SCHEDULE.
HIGHWAY DISTRICT No. 12.

WESTPORT-Karamea : All that portion of the road known
as the Westport-Karamea Road, commencing at the eastern
boundary of Westport Borough and proceeding thence gene-
rally in a north-easterly direction via Orowaiti River Bridge,
Waimangaroa, Ngakawau, Lower Mohikinui River Bridge,
Little Wanganui River Bridge, and Karamea River Bridge,
and terminating at the post-office, Karamea, passing through
the Buller County, being a distance of sixty-four miles, more
or less.

Westport-Nelson : All that portion of the Westport-
Nelson Road, commencing at the southern boundary of the
Borough of Westport and proceeding thence generally in an
easterly and north-easterly direction via the Nine-mile Ferry,
Inangahua Junction, Lyell, and terminating at the eastern
boundary of the Buller County at a point known as the
Eight-mile Creek, passing through the County of Buller,
being a distance of forty-five miles, more or less.

Inangahua Junction - Waiho : All that road known as the
Inangahua Junction - Waiho Road, commencing at its junction
with the Westport-Nelson Road at Inangahua Junction and
proceeding thence generally in a southerly direction via
Reefton, Maimai, Mawheraiti, Waimaunga, Ikamatua, Brun-
ner, Greymouth, Taramakau, Kumara Junction, Kumara,
Arahura, Hokitika, Kanieri, Rimu, Ross, Fergusons, Waitaha,
Wataroa, Okarito Forks, and terminating at the Waiho River,
passing through the Counties of Inangahua, Grey, and West-
land, but excluding those portions within the Boroughs of
Brunner, Greymouth, Kumara, Hokitika, and Ross, being a
distance of 184 miles, more or less.

Kumara - Arthur's Pass Road : All that portion of the
road known as the Kumara - Arthur's Pass Road, commencing
at its junction with the Inangahua Junction - Waiho Road
and proceeding thence generally in an easterly and south-
easterly direction along the left bank of the Taramakau River
via Jackson's and Otira, and terminating at Arthur's Pass at
eastern boundary of the Westland County, being a distance
of forty-five miles, more or less.

As the said public highways are more particularly deline-
ated on the plan marked M.H. 31, deposited in the office of
the Main Highways Board at Wellington, in the Wellington
Land District, and thereon coloured blue.

Valley, Tormore, Domett, McKenzie, Spotwood, Conway
River Bridge, Goose Bay, Kowhai River, Kaikoura, Hapuka
River Bridge, Clarence River Bridge, Kekerangu, Woodside,
Ward, Seddon, and terminating at the northern boundary of
the Awatere County, near Dashwood Station, passing through
the Counties of Waipara, Cheviot, Kaikoura, and Awatere,
being a distance of 163 miles 40 chains, more or less.

Waipara-Kaikoura, via Culverden : All that road known
as the Waipara-Kaikoura Road via Culverden, commencing
at the southern boundary of the Waipara County at Waipara
River, and proceeding thence generally in a northerly and
north-easterly direction via Weka Pass, Hurunui, Culverden,
Waiau, Whalesback, Conway River Crossing, Cribb Creek
Bridge, Upper Kowhai River Crossing, terminating at its
junction with the Christchurch-Blenheim Road via Parnassus,
at the Town of Kaikoura, passing through the Counties of
Waipara, Amuri, and Kaikoura, being a distance of ninety-
two miles, more or less.

Waikari-Scargill : All that road known as the Waikari-
Scargill Road, commencing at its junction with the Waipara-
Kaikoura Road via Culverden at Waikari, and proceeding
thence generally in an easterly direction, via Scargill, to its
junction with the Christchurch-Blenheim Road via Parnassus,
near Motunau, passing through the County of Waipara, being
a distance of sixteen miles, more or less.

Culverden-Hanmer : All that portion of the road known
as the Culverden-Hanmer Road, commencing at its junction
with the Waipara-Kaikoura Road via Culverden at the Red
Post, to the north of Culverden, and proceeding thence gene-
rally in a northerly direction via Upper Waiau River Bridge,
and terminating at the post-office, Hanmer, passing through
the County of Amuri, being a distance of 21 miles 20 chains,
more or less.

Waikari-Waitohi : All that portion of the road known as
the Waikari-Waitohi Road, commencing at the junction
with the Waipara-Kaikoura Road via Culverden at Waikari
and proceeding thence generally in a westerly, northerly, and
north-easterly direction via Hawarden, and terminating at
its junction with the Waipara-Kaikoura Road via Culverden
on the right bank of the Waitohi, passing through the County
of Waipara, being a distance of 10 miles 40 chains, more or
less.

As the said public highways are more particularly deline-
ated on the plan marked M.H. 32, deposited in the office of
the Main Highways Board at Wellington, in the Wellington
Land District, and thereon coloured blue.
