ceeding thence generally in a north-easterly direction via Featherston, Greystown, Carterton, Masterton, Mount Bruce Road, Eketahuna, Pahiatua, and terminating at the northern boundary of the Pahiatua County at the Manawatu River, passing through the Counties of Featherston, Wairarapa South, Masterton, Mauriceville, Eketahuna, and Pahiatua, but excluding those portions of the road in the Boroughs of Featherston, Greystown, Carterton, Masterton, Eketahuna, and Pahiatua, also excluding the distance of one mile, more or less, where undefined along the banks of the Makakahi River to the south of Eketahuna, being a distance of 66 miles 40 chains, more or less.

Featherston-Martinborough: All that portion of the road known as the Featherston-Martinborough Road, commencing at the eastern boundary of the Borough of Featherston and proceeding thence generally in a south-easterly direction via Bidwill's Cutting, and terminating at the Square, Martinborough, passing through the County of Featherston, being a distance of 9 miles 54 chains, more or less.

Martinborough-Otaria: All that portion of the road known as the Martinborough-Otaria Road, commencing at the Square, Martinborough, and proceeding thence generally in a south-westerly direction, and terminating at the Otaria Cutting, passing through the County of Featherston, being a distance of 9 miles 20 chains, more or less.

Martinborough-Awhea: All that portion of the road known as the Martinborough-Awhea Road, commencing at its junction with the Martinborough-Otaria Road, and terminating at the Hautotara Bridge, passing through the County of Featherston, being a distance of 6 miles 40 chains, more or less.

Featherston - Pigeon Bush: All that portion of the road known as the Featherston - Pigeon Bush Road, commencing at the southern boundary of the Borough of Featherston and proceeding thence generally in a south-westerly direction, and terminating at its junction with Cross Creek Road, passing through the County of Featherston, being a distance of 5 miles 20 chains, more or less.

Kahautara-Road: All that road known as the Kahautara Road, commencing at its junction with the Featherston-Martinborough Road and proceeding thence generally in a south-westerly direction, and terminating at its junction with the Martinborough-Pirinoa Road, passing through the County of Featherston, being a distance of fourteen miles, more or less.

Greytown - Bidwill's Cutting: All that road known as the Greytown - Bidwill's Cutting Road, commencing at the southern boundary of the Borough of Greytown and proceeding thence generally in a southerly direction to its junction with the Featherston-Martinborough Road at Bidwill's Cutting, passing through the County of Featherston, being a distance of seven miles, more or less.

Martinborough-Masterton (via Gladstone): All that road known as the Martinborough-Masterton (via Gladstone) Road, commencing at the Square in Martinborough and proceeding thence generally in an easterly and northerly direction via Whangaehu, Gladstone Crossing of the Taueru River, up the left bank of the Ruamahanga River, and terminating at the southern boundary of the Borough of Masterton, passing through the Counties of Featherston, Wairarapa South, and Masterton, being a distance of 30 miles 60 chains, more or less.

Carterton-Longbush: All that portion of the road known as the Carterton-Longbush Road, commencing at the eastern boundary of the Borough of Carterton and proceeding thence generally in a southerly direction along Park Road, Hokotau Road, and terminating at the junction of Millar's Road with the Martinborough-Masterton (via Gladstone) Road, passing through the County of Wairarapa South, but excluding the distance of 50 chains, more or less, where undefined through Section 29, Block XI, Tiffen Survey District, being a distance of ten miles, more or less.

Carterton-Westmere (via Gladstone): All that portion of the road known as the Carterton-Westmere (via Gladstone) Road, commencing at its junction with the Carterton-Longbush Road and proceeding thence generally in an easterly direction via Gladstone, and terminating at the junction of the Westmere and Gladstone Roads, passing through the County of Wairarapa South, but excluding that portion of the Martinborough-Masterton Road via Gladstone from Gladstone to the junction at Tupurupuru, being a distance of 12 miles 40 chains, more or less.

Masterton-Weber (via Alfredton): All that portion of the road known as the Masterton-Weber (via Alfredton) Road commencing at the eastern boundary of the Borough of Masterton and proceeding thence generally in a north-easterly direction via Wangaehu, Barton's Line, Alfredton, Rakaunui, Pongaroa, and terminating at the northern boundary of the Akitio County, passing through the Counties of Masterton, Mauriceville, Eketahuna, and Akitio, being a distance of sixty-eight miles, more or less.

Masterton-Tinui: All that portion of the road known as the Masterton-Tinui Road, commencing at its junction with the Masterton-Weber (via Alfredton) Road near Te Oreore and proceeding thence generally in an easterly direction via Tauera, Mangapakeha Stream, and terminating at the postoffice, Tinui, passing through the Counties of Masterton and Castlepoint, being a distance of 38 miles 40 chains, more or less.

Masterton-Weraiti: All that portion of the road known as the Masterton-Weraiti Road, commencing at its junction with the Masterton-Tinui Road and proceeding thence generally in a south-easterly direction, and terminating at its junction with the Westmere and Fernyhurst Roads, passing through the County of Masterton, being a distance of ten miles, more or less.

Eketahuna-Alfredton: All that portion of the road known as the Eketahuna-Alfredton Road, commencing at the eastern boundary of the County of Eketahuna and proceeding thence generally in an easterly direction to its junction with the Masterton-Weber Road at Alfredton, passing through the County of Eketahuna, being a distance of eleven miles, more or less.

Pahiatua-Pongaroa: All that portion of the road known as the Pahiatua-Pongaroa Road, commencing at its junction with the Wellington-Napier (via Wairarapa) Road between Pahiatua and Mangatainoka and proceeding thence generally in a south-easterly direction via Ngaturi, Makuri, and Upper Mangatiti, and terminating at its junction with the Masterton-Weber (via Alfredton) Road at Pongaroa, passing through the Counties of Pahiatua and Akitio, being a distance of thirty-three miles, more or less.

As the said public highways are more particularly delineated on the plan marked M.H. 25, deposited in the office of the Main Highways Board at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon coloured blue.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this 9th day of June, 1924.
Present:

THE HONOURABLE SIR FRANCIS BELL PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities vested in him by section three of the Main Highways Act, 1922, and of all other powers in anywise enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby declare that on and after the date of this Order in Council the public highways mentioned in the Schedule hereto shall be main highways within the meaning and for the purpose of the Main Highways Act, 1922.

SCHEDULE.

HIGHWAY DISTRICT No. 11.

NELSON-Westport: All that portion of the road known as the Nelson-Westport Road, commencing from the western boundary of City of Nelson, and proceeding thence generally in a south-westerly direction via Port Nelson, Rocks Road, Stoke, Richmond, Brightwater, Wakefield, Belgrove, Motupiko, Hope Saddle, Glenhope, Owen, Longford Bridge, Murchison, O'Sullivan Bridge, Newton Bridge, and terminating at point known as Eight-mile Creek on western boundary of Murchison County, passing through the Counties of Waimea and Murchison, and including that portion of the road in Tahunanui Town District, but excluding that portion of the road within the Borough of Richmond, being a distance of ninety-three miles, more or less.

Richmond-Collingwood: All that road known as the Richmond-Collingwood Road, commencing at its junction with the Nelson-Westport Road at Richmond, and proceeding thence generally in a north-westerly direction via Upper Moutere, Motueka, Riwaka, Takaka Saddle, Takaka, Lindsay's Bridge, Payne's Ford Bridge, and terminating at its junction with the Collingwood-Bainham Road, passing through the Counties of Waimea, Takaka, and Collingwood, and including the portion of the road in the Takaka Town District, but excluding those portions of the road in the Boroughs of Richmond and Motueka, being a distance of seventy-eight miles, more or less.

Collingwood-Pakawau: All that road known as the Collingwood-Pakawau Road, commencing at the junction with
