Hamilton–Rotorua Road: All that portion of the Hamilton–Rotorua Road, in the Matamata County, commencing at the junction of the old Te Aroha Road with the present Tirau–Rotorua Road at Tapapa, and proceeding thence generally in a south-easterly direction, and terminating on the eastern boundary of the Matamata County, in Mamaku Bush, being a distance of fourteen miles, more or less; marked C–D on plan.

As the same are more particularly delineated on the plan marked M.H. 49, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon coloured blue and marked as above mentioned.

Declaring Roads and Portions of Roads in Highway District No. 3, Opotiki, Rotorua, and Taupo Counties, to be Government Roads.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this 9th day of June, 1924.

Present:

THE HONOURABLE SIR FRANCIS BELL PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in him by the Public Works Act, 1908, and of all other powers in anywise enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby order and declare that the roads and portions of roads described in the Schedule hereto shall, on and after the date of this Order in Council, become Government Roads.


SCHEDULE.

HIGHWAY DISTRICT NO. 3.

Opotiki–Motuhora Road: All that portion of the Opotiki–Motuhora road in the Opotiki County, commencing at its junction with the Opotiki East Coast Road near the mouth of the Waiaua River, and proceeding thence generally in a southerly direction, passing through Toatoa, and terminating at its junction with Motuhora Station Road, on the south-eastern boundary of the Opotiki County, being a distance of thirty-three miles, more or less; marked A–B on plan.

Rotorua–Rotoma Road: All that road in the Rotorua County, known as the Rotorua–Rotoma Road, commencing at the north-eastern boundary of the Rotorua Borough and proceeding thence generally in a north-easterly and easterly direction along the eastern side of Lake Rotorua, passing through Te Ngae, along the southern side of Lake Rotoiti, and along the southern side of Lake Rotoehu, and terminating at the eastern boundary of the Rotorua County, being a distance of twenty-eight miles, more or less; marked C–D–E on plan.

Te Ngae–Paengaroa Road: All that portion of the Te Ngae–Paengaroa Road, in the Rotorua County, commencing at its junction with the Rotorua–Rotoma Road at Te Ngae and proceeding thence generally in a northerly direction along the eastern side of Lake Rotorua, along the western side of Lake Rotoiti, and passing through Okere, and terminating at the northern boundary of the Rotorua County, being a distance of sixteen miles, more or less; marked D–F on plan.

Rotorua–Ngongotaha Road: All that road in the Rotorua County known as the Rotorua–Ngongotaha Road, commencing at the western boundary of the Rotorua Borough, and proceeding thence generally in a north-westerly direction along the western side of Lake Rotorua, and terminating at the Ngongotaha Stream, being a distance of four miles, more or less; marked G–H on plan.

Rotorua–Napier Road: All that portion of the Rotorua–Napier Road in the Rotorua and Taupo Counties, commencing at the southern boundary of the Rotorua Borough, and proceeding thence generally in a southerly direction passing through Waiotapu, Mihi Village, Wairakei, Taupo, Tarawera, and Te Haroto, and terminating at the Mohaka Road Bridge over the Mohaka River at the south-eastern boundary of the Taupo County, being a distance of one hundred and twenty miles, more or less; marked J–K–L on plan.

Hamilton–Taupo Road: All that portion of the Hamilton–Taupo Road in the Taupo County, commencing at the western boundary of the Taupo County, and proceeding thence generally in a southerly direction, passing through Atiamuri and Oruanui, and terminating at its junction with the Rotorua–Taupo Road at Wairakei, being a distance of thirty miles, more or less; marked K–M on plan.

As the same are more particularly delineated on the plan marked M.H. 30, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon coloured blue and marked as above mentioned.

Gisborne–Opotiki via Coast Road: All that portion of the Gisborne–Opotiki via Coast Road, in the Cook County, commencing at Pouawa and proceeding thence generally in a north-easterly direction, passing through Whangara, and terminating at the Pakarae River on the western boundary of the Uawa County, being a distance of twelve miles, more or less; marked C–D on plan.

Also all that portion of the said road in the Uawa County commencing at the Makatoto Creek and proceeding thence generally in a northerly direction and terminating at its junction with the Main Street, Tolaga Bay, being a distance of seven miles, more or less; marked E–F on plan.

Also all that portion of the said road in the Waiapu and Matakoao Counties, commencing at its junction with the Waipiro Bay Road at the Kopuaroa Stream, and proceeding thence generally in a north-easterly and north-westerly direction, passing through Ruatorea, Waiomatatini, Tikitiki, Te Araroa, and terminating at its junction with the Hick’s Bay Road at Hick’s Bay, being a distance of 40 miles 38 chains, more or less; marked G–H on plan.

Gisborne–Motu Road: All that portion of the Gisborne–Motu Road, in the Waikohu County, commencing at its junction with the Waikohu Railway-station Road and proceeding thence generally in a north-westerly direction, passing through Otoko, Matawai, and Rakauroa, and terminating at its junction with Motuhora Station Road on the north-western boundary of the Waikohu County, being a distance of thirty miles, more or less; marked J–K on plan.

As the same are more particularly delineated on the plan marked M.H. 22, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon coloured blue and marked as above mentioned.
