increment provided in clause 3 of the regulations as amended, provided that his total salary, as computed under clauses 3 and 4 of the regulations as amended, has not been increased during the six months immediately preceding.”

  1. Clause 15 of the regulations is hereby amended by adding the following subclause:—

“ (3.) The provisions of this clause shall, mutatis mutandis, apply to a teacher in the primary department of a district high school who holds a position the new grade of salary attached to which is lower than the new grade of salary named in clause 2 hereof as corresponding to the salary received prior to 1st February, 1924, provided that with the approval of the Minister the transfer of such teacher to another position may be postponed sine die.

  1. Clause 23 of the regulations is hereby revoked, and the following substituted therefor:—

“ 23. The grade of the primary department of a district high school shall be determined in accordance with the average attendance in such primary department in the same way as is prescribed in clauses 19 and 20 hereof for an ordinary public school.”

  1. Clause 24 of the regulations is hereby amended by adding “ and the provisions of clause 20 shall, mutatis mutandis, apply to these departments.”

  2. Clause 47 of the regulations is hereby revoked, and the following substituted therefor:—

“ 47. The salary of a relieving teacher shall be payable for the period during which he is actually engaged in teaching together with the period reasonably necessary to travel from and to his usual place of residence: Provided that the Board may pay such teacher during any year ending 31st January for school holidays not exceeding one-fourth of the time of actual teaching.”

II. PUPIL-TEACHERS AND PROBATIONERS REGULATIONS.

  1. Clause 8 of the regulations is hereby amended by substituting in subclause (1) “ £75 ” for “ £90,” and “ £80 ” for “ £95.” Provided that until 1st February, 1925, these reductions shall not operate in the case of a pupil teacher or probationer who commenced duties prior to the 31st December, 1923.

III. TRAINING-COLLEGE REGULATIONS.

  1. Clause 7 of the regulations is hereby amended—

(1.) By substituting in subclause (1) thereof—

(a.) In paragraph (a) “ £670 ” and “ £720 ” for “ £700 ” and “ £750 ” respectively:

(b.) In paragraph (b) “ £530 ” and “ £605 ” for “ £550 ” and “ £625 ” respectively:

(c.) In paragraph (c) “ £435 ” and “ £485 ” for “ £450 ” and “ £500 ” respectively:

(d.) In paragraph (d) “ £365 ” for “ £380.”

(2.) By substituting in subclause (2) thereof:—

(a.) In paragraph (i) “ £520 ” and “ £570 ” for “ £540 ” and “ £590 ” respectively:

(b.) For paragraph (ii) “ First assistant master with a salary of “ £335–375 ”:

(c.) In paragraph (iii) “ £335–£375 ” for “ £350–390.”:

(d.) For paragraph (iv) “ One assistant male or female with a salary of Grade 3, four assistants, two females with salaries of Grade 2, with an additional £30 per annum, and two males, with salaries of Grade 2.

(e.) For paragraph (v) “ Such additional female assistants of Grade 2 as are required to make up the total number of assistants to the number provided by the Regulations respecting Salaries of Teachers and Staffing of Public Schools or to such greater number as the Minister may approve.”

(3.) By substituting in subclause (3) thereof—

(a.) In paragraph (i) “ £325–365 ” for “ £340–380 ”:

(b.) In paragraph (ii) “ Grade 2, with an additional £30,” for “ £240–270 ”:

(c.) For paragraph (iii) “ In the secondary department, if the number of pupils in yearly average attendance is not more than thirty, an assistant of Grade 3, and if the number of pupils in yearly average attendance is more than thirty a male assistant of Grade 4 and a female assistant of Grade 2, with an additional £30 per annum.”

(d.) In paragraph (iv) “ Grade 2, with an additional £30 in the case of a woman,” for “ £260–280 ”:

(e.) In paragraph (v) “ Grade 2 ” for “ £220–£250.”

(4.) (a.) By deleting from paragraph (a) of subclause (7) thereof the words “ clause 2,” and substituting “ clause 4.”

(b.) By revoking the proviso to paragraph (a) of subclause (7), and substituting—
