BOROUGH OF HAMILTON.

Masonic Hall Loan of £2,500.

PURSUANT to the provisions of the Local Elections and Polls Act, 1908, the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, and their amendments, I hereby give notice that at a poll of ratepayers of the Borough of Hamilton, taken on the 24th day of January, 1924, on the proposal of the Hamilton Borough Council to borrow the sum of £2,500 for the purchase of part of Allotment 77 of the Town of Hamilton East, with the building or Masonic Hall thereon, erected and repairing, altering, adding to, fitting, and furnishing such building as a museum and hall for public meetings, including the cost of all necessary materials, fittings, and furniture,—

The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 136; the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 146; informal, 7: total number of votes, 289.

I therefore declare that the proposal was lost.

THE following notice, received from the Chairman of the Board of the Cambridge Electric-power District, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913.

CAMBRIDGE ELECTRIC-POWER BOARD.

PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that a poll of ratepayers of the Cambridge Electric-power District was taken on Monday, the 18th day of February, 1924, on the proposal of the Cambridge Electric-Power Board to borrow the sum of £25,000 for the purpose of repaying amounts advanced to Loan Account from Power Fund and Installation Loan Account, for repayment of Karapiro Extension Loan, for extensions of mains and services, and erection of offices, buildings, &c.

The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 276; the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 68; informal, 2.

I therefore declare the proposal carried.

Result of Poll on Loan.

PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that on the 13th day of February, 1924, a proposal was submitted by the Lawrence Borough Council to the ratepayers of the Borough of Lawrence for raising a special loan of £1,300 for the purchase of water-races, dams, and other mining privileges from the Phoenix Water-race Company, Limited (Registered), and that the number of votes recorded respectively for and against the proposal were as follows: For, 182; against, 5; informal, 2.

I declare the said proposal to be carried.

I therefore declare the proposal to be carried.

Result of Proposal to raise a Loan.

PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the Borough of Thames, taken on the 14th day of February, 1924, on the proposal of the Thames Borough Council to borrow the sum of £5,000 for the following purpose: To acquire, open up, and fully and efficiently equip a quarry in the Upper Waiotahi District within the Borough of Thames in accordance with a plan deposited in the Warden’s Office, Queen Street, Thames, and to construct an efficient line of tramway or tramways from such a quarry to the waterfront, within such borough, and to do all or any acts, and things necessary in connection with such quarry, tramway, or tramways to render the same efficient and effective,—

The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 176; the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 46; the number of informal votes was nil.

I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.
