Results of Elections of Trustees of Drainage Districts.

THE following results of the election of trustees of drainage districts have been received from the Returning Officer, and are published in accordance with the provisions of the Land Drainage Act, 1908.

Notice of Intention to take Additional Land in the Borough of Riccarton, Block XI, Christchurch Survey District, for the Purposes of a Post and Telegraph Storage-yard.

NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1908, to take the land described in the Schedule hereto for the purposes of a Post and Telegraph storage-yard. And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the post-office at Addington, and is there open for inspection; and that all persons affected by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Public Works at Wellington.

SCHEDULE.

APPROXIMATE area of the piece of land required to be taken: 3 roods 24 perches.

Portion of R.S. 145, situated in the Borough of Riccarton, Block XI, Christchurch Survey District (Canterbury R.D.). (S.P. 1867.)

In the Canterbury Land District; as the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 58450, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon edged red.

As witness my hand at Wellington, this 12th day of December, 1923.

Notice of Intention to take Land in Block VI, Waihou Survey District, for the Purposes of a Road.

NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1908, to execute a certain public work—to wit, the construction of a road in Block VI, Waihou Survey District, and for the purposes of such public work the land described in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken. And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the post-office at Kerepehi, and is there open for inspection; and that all persons affected by the execution of the said public work or by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the execution of the said public work or to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Public Works at Wellington.

SCHEDULE.

APPROXIMATE area of the piece of land required to be taken: 1 rood 1·6 perches.

Being portion of Tiritiri Block No. 9B, Block VI, Waihou Survey District (Auckland R.D.). (S.O. 22484.)

In the Auckland Land District; as the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 57440, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon coloured neutral.

Notice under the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, fixing the Closing-hours of Tobacconists’ Shops in the Borough of Balclutha.

WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the tobacconists’ shops in the Borough of Balclutha, has been forwarded to me, desiring that all such shops in the borough be closed in the evening of working-days as follows: Subject to the closing at not later than 1 p.m. on the day observed as the statutory closing-day, on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays at 8 p.m.:

And whereas I, George James Anderson, Minister of Labour, am satisfied that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the said shops in the said borough:

Now, therefore, in pursuance of section 32 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, I do hereby direct that on and after the 17th day of December, 1923, all the tobacconists’ shops within the Borough of Balclutha shall be closed accordingly.

The notice published in the New Zealand Gazette of the 24th June, 1909, fixing the closing-hours of hairdressers and tobacconists’ shops in the Borough of Balclutha is hereby superseded in so far as it relates to the shops affected by this notice as from the date of the coming into operation of this notice.

Dated at Wellington this 8th day of December, 1923.

WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the grocers’ shops in the Borough of Ashburton, has been forwarded to me, desiring that all such shops in the borough be closed in the evening of working-days as follows: On Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday at 6 p.m., and on Friday at 8.30 p.m., with the following exception—8.30 p.m. on Thursday for those shops which are closed during the whole of Friday in any week:

And whereas I, George James Anderson, Minister of Labour, am satisfied that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the said shops in the said borough:

Now, therefore, in pursuance of section 32 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, I do hereby direct that on and after the 17th day of December, 1923, all the grocers’ shops within the Borough of Ashburton shall be closed accordingly.

The notice published in the New Zealand Gazette of the 19th August, 1909, fixing the closing-hours of grocers’ and ironmongers’ shops in the Borough of Ashburton is hereby superseded in so far as it relates to the shops affected by this notice as from the date of coming into operation of this notice.

WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the shops in each of the trades of (1) hairdresser, and (2) tobacconist, in the Borough of Ashburton, has been forwarded to me, desiring that all such shops in the borough be closed in the evening of working-days as follows: Subject to the closing at not later than 1 o’clock p.m. on the day observed as the statutory closing-day, on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday at 6 p.m., and on Friday at 9.30 p.m., with the following exception—9.30 p.m. on Thursday for those shops that are closed during the whole of Friday in any week:

And whereas I, George James Anderson, Minister of Labour, am satisfied that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the shops in each of the said trades in the said borough:

Now, therefore, in pursuance of section 32 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, I do hereby direct that on and after the 17th day of December, 1923, all the shops in each of the trades of (1) hairdresser, and (2) tobacconist, in the Borough of Ashburton shall be closed accordingly.

The notice gazetted on the 9th January, 1913, fixing the closing-hours of hairdressers’ and tobacconists’ shops in the Borough of Ashburton is hereby cancelled as from the date of the coming into operation of this notice.
