KAIKOURA RIVER BOARD.

Result of Poll on Proposal to raise Loan.

PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the Kaikoura River Board District within the County of Kaikoura, taken on the 16th day of November, 1923, on the proposal of the Kaikoura River Board to borrow the sum of £1,500 for the purpose of protective works,—

The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 58, and the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 3.

I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that at a poll of ratepayers of a special-rating area of the Borough of Mataura, taken on the 21st day of November, 1923, on the proposal of the Mataura Borough Council to borrow the sum of £12,500 for a water scheme, the number of votes recorded was as follows :—

For the proposal, 205 ; against the proposal, 56 ; informal, 2.

I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the Matamata Riding to borrow the sum of £30,000 for road metalling and bituminous surfacing,—

The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 147 ; the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 36 ; informal, 2.

I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

WHAKATANE COUNTY COUNCIL.

Result of Poll on Proposal to raise Railway Road Metalling Loan of £5,000.

PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the County of Whakatane, taken on the 17th day of November, 1923, on the proposal of the Whakatane County Council to borrow the sum of £5,000 for the purpose of metalling the Railway Road from Matata to Taneatua,—

The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 172 ; the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 66.

I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

Notice respecting Proposed Borough of Kaikoura.

Department of Internal Affairs,
Wellington, 7th December, 1923.

PURSUANT to section 131 of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1920, it is hereby notified that a petition, in accordance with regulations, signed by not less than one-fifth of the electors of that area described in the Schedule hereto, being portion of the County of Kaikoura, has been presented to His Excellency the Governor-General, praying that the said area may be constituted a borough under the Municipal Corporations Act, 1920. All persons affected are hereby called upon to lodge any written objections to or petitions against the proposed constitution which they desire to lodge within one month from the first publication of this notice. Such objections or petitions are to be addressed and forwarded to the Minister of Internal Affairs, Wellington.


SCHEDULE.

PROPOSED BOROUGH OF KAIKOURA.

ALL that area in the Land District of Marlborough bounded by a line starting at the sea at the north-eastern corner of Section 345, Kaikoura Suburban, Mount Fyffe Survey District, thence south-westerly along the north-western boundary-line of the said Section 345 to a point opposite the boundary-line between Sections 152 and 145 ; thence across the road and along the said last-mentioned boundary-line, and continuing in a straight line to the Mount Fyffe Road ; thence across that road to the north-eastern corner of Section 108, Kaikoura Suburban ; thence again south-westerly along the north-western boundary of that section to the most westerly corner thereof ; thence in a south-easterly direction along the entire south-western boundary-line of the said Section 108 ; thence across the road to the most westerly corner of the Section 118, Kaikoura Suburban ; thence in the same direction along the south-western boundary of the last-mentioned section to its intersection with the north-western boundary of Section 129, Kaikoura Suburban ; thence in a south-westerly direction along the north-western boundary-line of the said Section 129 to the most westerly corner thereof ; thence in a south-easterly direction along the south-western boundary-lines of the said Section 129 and Sections 130, 131, and 132, Kaikoura Suburban, to the Waiau Road ; and again in a south-easterly direction along that road to the most northerly corner of Section 256, Kaikoura Suburban ; thence generally in a southerly direction along the western boundary-line of that section and also of Section 3, Block X, Mount Fyffe Survey District, to the Main South Road ; thence continuing in a straight line in the same direction across the Kaikoura Domain Reserve to the ocean ; and thence along the coast round the Kaikoura Peninsula to the point of commencement.
