Notice under the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, fixing the Closing-hours of Stationers’ Shops in the Borough of Ashburton.

WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the stationers’ shops in the Borough of Ashburton, has been forwarded to me, desiring that all such shops in the borough be closed in the evening of working-days as follows: On Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday at 5.45 p.m., and on Friday at 9.45 p.m., with the following exception—9.45 p.m. on Thursday for those shops which are closed during the whole of Friday in any week:
And whereas I, George James Anderson, Minister of Labour, am satisfied that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the said shops in the said borough:
Now, therefore, in pursuance of section 32 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, I do hereby direct that on and after the 17th day of December, 1923, all the stationers’ shops within the Borough of Ashburton shall be closed accordingly.
The notice published in the New Zealand Gazette of the 7th October, 1909, fixing the closing-hours of booksellers’, stationers’, fancy-goods, and toy-dealers’ shops in the Borough of Ashburton is hereby superseded in so far as it relates to the shops affected by this notice as from the date of the coming into operation of this notice.

WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the cycle-dealers’ shops in the Borough of Ashburton, has been forwarded to me, desiring that all such shops in the borough be closed in the evening of working-days as follows: On Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, 5.30 p.m.; Friday, 9 p.m.; with the following exception—9 p.m. on Thursday for those shops which are closed during the whole of Friday in any week:
And whereas I, George James Anderson, Minister of Labour, am satisfied that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the said shops in the said borough:
Now, therefore, in pursuance of section 32 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, I do hereby direct that on and after the 17th day of December, 1923, all the cycle-dealers’ shops within the Borough of Ashburton shall be closed accordingly.
The notice published in the New Zealand Gazette of the 19th August, 1909, fixing the closing-hours of cycle-dealers’ shops in the Borough of Ashburton, is hereby cancelled as from the date of coming into operation of this notice.

Notice under the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, fixing the Closing-hours of Grocers’ Shops in the City of Nelson.

WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the grocers’ shops in the City of Nelson, has been forwarded to me, desiring that all such shops in the city be closed in the evening of working-days as follows: On Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at 6 p.m., with the following exceptions—(1) During the period from the 17th to the 31st day of December, when there shall be no fixed closing-hour; (2) during the week in which Good Friday occurs there shall be no fixed closing-hours on the evenings of working-days:
And whereas I, George James Anderson, Minister of Labour, am satisfied that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the said shops within the said city:
Now, therefore, in pursuance of section 32 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, I do hereby direct that on and after the 17th day of December, 1923, all the grocers’ shops within the City of Nelson shall be closed in the evening of working-days as follows: Subject to the closing at not later than 1 p.m. on the day observed as the statutory closing-day, on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at 6 p.m., with the following exceptions—(1) during the period from the 17th to the 31st day of December there shall be no fixed closing-hour; (2) during the week in which Good Friday occurs there shall be no fixed closing-hours in the evenings of working-days.

The notice gazetted on the 29th June, 1922, fixing the closing-hours of grocers’ shops in the City of Nelson, and the notice gazetted on the 20th July, 1922, prohibiting the sale in the said city of certain goods comprised in the trade of a grocer, are hereby cancelled as from the date of coming into operation of this notice.

Notice under the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, fixing the Closing-hours of Booksellers and Stationers’ Shops in the Borough of Hawera.

WHEREAS pursuant to section 32 (5) of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, His Excellency the Governor-General has by Order in Council dated the 26th day of November, 1923, grouped the trades of (1) bookseller and (2) stationer, commonly carried on together in the Borough of Hawera as the trade of bookseller and stationer:
And whereas a requisition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the booksellers and stationers’ shops in the said borough, has been forwarded to me, desiring that all such shops in the borough be closed in the evening of working-days as follows: On Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays at 6 p.m., Saturdays 9 p.m., with the following exceptions—from the 18th December to the 24th December (both days inclusive), and for the Thursday preceding Good Friday and the Saturday immediately following Good Friday, there shall be no fixed closing-hour:
And whereas I, George James Anderson, Minister of Labour, am satisfied that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the said shops in the said borough:
Now, therefore, in pursuance of section 32 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, I do hereby direct that on and after the 17th day of December, 1923, all the booksellers and stationers’ shops within the Borough of Hawera shall be closed accordingly.
The notice gazetted on the 12th September, 1907, fixing the closing-hours of certain shops in the Borough of Hawera, is hereby superseded in so far as it relates to the shops affected by this notice as from the date of the coming into operation of this notice.

WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the shops in the Papakura Town District, has been forwarded to me, desiring that the notice gazetted on the 4th March, 1909, fixing the closing-hours of all the shops in the said district be cancelled:
And whereas I, George James Anderson, Minister of Labour, am satisfied that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the shops within the said district:
Now, therefore, in pursuance of section 32 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, I do hereby direct that the notice gazetted on the 4th March, 1909, fixing the closing-hours of all the shops in the Papakura Town District shall be and is hereby cancelled as from the date hereof.

In the matter of the Mining Act, 1908, and its amendments, and in the matter of license for residence-site numbered 3/1910, dated 31/1/10, and held by the PARAPARA HYDRAULIC SLUICING AND MINING COMPANY (LIMITED), in liquidation.
NOTICE is hereby given that in accordance with the provisions of section 30 of the Mining Amendment Act, 1914, the mining privilege held under the license above mentioned will, unless cause to the contrary is shown, be struck off the Register of Mining Privileges at the expiration of three months from the date hereof.
