Redefining Boundaries of the Borough of Blenheim, the County of Marlborough, and the Spring Creek Road District.

Wellington, 22nd November, 1923.

PURSUANT to the provisions of section 141 of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1920, the boundaries of the Borough of Blenheim are hereby defined as set out in the First Schedule hereto, the boundaries of the said borough having been altered by Orders in Council dated the 27th day of March, 1923, and the 23rd day of April, 1923, made under the Municipal Corporations Act, 1920, and published in Gazettes Nos. 27 and 40, of the 29th day of March, 1923, and the 3rd day of May, 1923, respectively.

And also, in pursuance of the provisions of the said section 141 of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1920, the boundaries of the County of Marlborough and of the Spring Creek Road District affected by the said Orders in Council are hereby defined as set out in the Second and Third Schedules hereto respectively.

FIRST SCHEDULE.

BOUNDARIES OF BOROUGH OF BLENHEIM.

ALL that area in the Land District of Marlborough bounded by a line commencing at the north-western corner of Section 51, Omaka District, thence proceeding easterly along the southern side of Robinson Street to the old right bank of the Opawa River; thence along that bank to the present right bank near Grove Road, and along the said present bank to the easternmost corner of Section 47, Opawa District; thence south-westerly along the original south-eastern boundary of said Section 47 to a point in line with the western boundary of Section 24, Wairau West District; thence southerly across the Opawa River and along the western boundaries of Sections 24, Wairau West District, and 41, Opawa District, to the northern boundary of Section 45; thence westerly along the said northern boundary of Section 45, across Redwood Street; thence southerly along the western side of Redwood Street to Alabama Road, westerly along the northern side of Alabama Road to a point in line with the eastern boundary of Section 8, Omaka District; thence northerly to and along that boundary and the eastern boundary of Section 7, Omaka District, to the Omaka River; thence north-easterly generally along the original right bank of that river to the eastern boundary of Section 5, Omaka District; thence northerly along the eastern boundaries of said Section 5 and Section 52, Omaka District, to the place of commencement.

SECOND SCHEDULE.

BOUNDARIES OF THE COUNTY OF MARLBOROUGH.

ALL that area in the Marlborough Land District bounded by a line commencing at Trig. Station P (Matapehe or McLaren Peak) in Block VI, Tennyson Survey District, and proceeding thence south-easterly along the summit of the Opouri Range and the summit of the northern watershed of the Kaiuma River to Black Point (Whataaruhe), along the Mahau Sound, to the north-western corner of Section 21, Pelorus Sound District; thence along a right line to the south-eastern corner of a block of land granted to Joseph Toms; thence along Queen Charlotte Sound to Karaka Point; thence southerly along the eastern boundary of Waikawa Native Reserve to Trig. Station B, and along the summit of the watershed, through Mount Robertson, to the point bearing north 45° west of the southern point of White’s Bay; thence along a right line to said southern point of White’s Bay, and along the sea-coast to the Awatere River, and up the middle of that river to a point in line with the south-western boundary of Section 30, Block VIII, Clifford Bay Survey District; thence to and along that boundary, along the middle of a public road forming the north-western boundary of Section 31, along the middle of a public road fronting Sections 29 and 28, along the south-western and north-western boundaries of 4 of Block I, the south-western boundaries of 6 of Block II, 15 of Block II, and 14 of Block II, along the south-western boundaries of 14 of Block II, and 27 of Block II, to Boundary Stream, up the middle of that stream to Maxwell Pass, and down the middle of a tributary of Taylor River to the Taylor River, at the base of a hill called “The Maori,” along the western side of Taylor Pass Road to the confluence of Taylor Pass Creek with Taylor River; thence by that river to the nearest point to the south-western corner of Section 44 of Block I, Omaka District; thence to and along the watershed between the Wairau and Awatere Rivers to its intersection with a right line running from Barefell Pass to Trig. Station Top No. 2 (near Tophouse); thence north-westerly along that line to said Trig. Station Top No. 2; thence along a right line to Ward’s Pass, and along the summit of the range being the northern watershed of the Wairau River to Slaty Peak at the source of the Pelorus River; thence down the middle of the said Pelorus River to the Heringa River; thence up the middle of the Heringa River to its source at Trig. Station B, Saddle Hill; thence along the summit of the north-western watershed of the Pelorus River to Trig. Station P, the point of commencement: excluding therefrom the boroughs of Picton and Blenheim and the road known as the Taylor Pass Road commencing at the northern boundary of Section 48, Block III, and proceeding southerly and south-easterly to the Taylor River at the base of the hill called “The Maori.”

THIRD SCHEDULE.

BOUNDARIES OF THE SPRING CREEK ROAD DISTRICT.

ALL that area in the Land District of Marlborough bounded towards the west, north, and east by the Wairau River from the separation of the rivers Wairau and Opawa to the road between Sections 28 and 32, Wairau West; thence generally towards the south-east by that line of road, a road between Sections 30 and 29, and the north-western and south-western boundaries of Section 29 to the new bed of Opawa River running through Section 48; thence towards the south generally along the middle of that river to the point of commencement.

Result of Election of a Member of the Balclutha, Kaitangata, and Milton Fire Boards by Fire-insurance Companies.

THE following result of the election of a member of the Balclutha, Kaitangata, and Milton Fire Boards by the fire-insurance companies concerned has been reported to the Minister of Internal Affairs, and is notified in accordance with the rules under the Fire Brigades Act, 1908:—

Balclutha Fire Board: Sydney Edmund Dermot Neill.
Kaitangata Fire Board: Sydney Edmund Dermot Neill.
Milton Fire Board: Sydney Edmund Dermot Neill.

Special Order made by the Cook County Council declaring that Californian Thistle shall be deemed not to be a Noxious Weed.—Notice No. Ag. 2323.

THE following special order, made by the Cook County Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Noxious Weeds Act.

SPECIAL ORDER.

THIS Council hereby declares that the plant known as Canadian or Californian thistle (Cnicus arvensis), mentioned in the Second Schedule of the Noxious Weeds Act, 1908, shall be deemed not to be a noxious weed within the County of Cook.

The above special order was made at a special meeting of the Cook County Council held on the 19th day of October, 1923, and confirmed at a subsequent meeting held on the 16th day of November, 1923.
