RESOLUTION.

THE following regulations were laid before the members of the Waikato Hunt Club at a meeting held on the 11th day of April, 1923, at Cambridge, with a recommendation by the Chairman of such club, Mr. Wynn Brown, that the same be passed at once with a view to their approval by His Excellency the Governor-General, in pursuance of the Gaming Act, 1908, section 33.

Mr. Wynn Brown, the Chairman of such club and the meeting, moved, and Mr. A. N. Dingle seconded, and it was resolved, that such regulations should be adopted, and that the Chairman and Secretary be authorized to sign the same in authentication thereof.

The following are the regulations referred to :-

WAIKATO HUNT CLUB.

REGULATIONS.

(Under the Gaming Act, 1908.)

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers in that behalf contained in section 33 of the Gaming Act, 1908, and of all other powers and authorities it enabling in that behalf, the Waikato Hunt Club, a racing club within the meaning of the said Act (hereinafter referred to as “ the said club ”), doth hereby revoke the regulations dated the 26th day of August, 1922, and in lieu thereof doth hereby make the following regulations controlling the admission of persons to that part of the Claudelands Show-grounds situated in the district of Claudelands, and known as the Claudelands Racecourse, while the said racecourse is used or occupied by the said club for race meetings.

  1. These regulations shall come into force on the date of the same being published in the New Zealand Gazette.

  2. In these regulations the words “bookmaker,” “racing club,” and “race meeting” shall have the meanings ascribed to those terms respectively by section 2 of the Gaming Act, 1908.

  3. The following persons shall be and are hereby excluded from the racecourse above described while the same is used or occupied by the said club for a race meeting, namely,—

(a.) Bookmakers.

(b.) Bookmakers’ clerks, bookmakers’ assistants, and bookmakers’ agents.

(c.) All persons under disqualification inflicted by any racing or trotting club in the Dominion of New Zealand, the Commonwealth of Australia, or elsewhere, if affiliated to the New Zealand Racing Conference, or the New Zealand Trotting Conference, or the New Zealand Trotting Association.

(d.) Common prostitutes, and persons who habitually consort with thieves or persons who have no lawful visible means of support.

(e.) Professional tipsters, persons convicted of house-breaking or pocket-picking, forgery, uttering or possessing counterfeit coin, theft, false pretences, receiving stolen goods, mischief, assault, or any offence or crime of any kind under the Crimes Act, 1908, and also idle and disorderly persons, rogues and vagabonds, and incorrigible rogues convicted under the Police Offences Act, 1908, and persons convicted of an offence under the Gaming Act, 1908.

Provided always that the Stipendiary Stewards’ Committee appointed by the New Zealand Racing Conference, upon being satisfied by evidence as to character and otherwise that any person who, by reason of any conviction, comes within the scope of this regulation should have relief from the effect thereof, may grant exemption to any such person, and may at any time revoke any such exemption without notice to such person, and without assigning any reason for such revocation.

The foregoing regulations of the Waikato Hunt Club were made and passed by such club on the 11th day of April, 1923, and signed by the Chairman and Secretary.

TAIHAPE BOROUGH COUNCIL.

RESOLUTION MAKING A SPECIAL RATE.—WORKERS’ DWELLINGS LOAN NO. 2 OF £5,000.

IN pursuance and in exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, and of all other powers (if any) it thereunto enabling, the Council hereby resolves as follows :—

That, for the purpose of providing for the payment of interest, repayment of loan, and other charges on the Taihape Borough Council Workers’ Dwellings Loan No. 2 of £5,000, authorized to be raised by the Council, under the above-mentioned Act, for the purpose of the following works—the erection and acquiring workers’ dwellings in the Borough of Taihape—the said Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of five-sixteenths of a penny in the pound sterling on the rateable value (on a basis of the unimproved value) of all rateable property in the Borough of Taihape ; and that such special rate shall be an annually recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable yearly on the 1st day of August in each year during the currency of such loan, being a period of thirty-six and a half (36½) years, or until the loan is fully paid off.

TAIHAPE BOROUGH COUNCIL.

RESOLUTION MAKING A SPECIAL RATE.—THRUSH STREET EXTENSION LOAN OF £1,250.

IN pursuance and in exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, and of all other powers (if any) it thereunto enabling, the Council hereby resolves as follows :—

That, for the purpose of providing for the payment of interest, repayment of loan, and other charges on the Taihape Borough Council Thrush Street Extension Loan of £1,250, authorized to be raised by the Council, under the above-mentioned Act, for the purpose of the following works—extension of Thrush Street to Kaka Road—the said Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of five sixty-fourths of a penny (5/64d.) in the pound sterling on the rateable value (on the basis of the unimproved value) of all rateable property in the Borough of Taihape ; and that such special rate shall be an annually recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable yearly on the 1st day of August in each year during the currency of such loan, being a period of thirty-six and a half (36½) years, or until the loan is fully paid off.

WAITEMATA COUNTY COUNCIL.

RESOLUTION MAKING SPECIAL RATE.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it on that behalf by the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, the Waitemata County Council hereby resolves as follows :—

That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £4,000, authorized to be raised by the Waitemata County Council, under the above-mentioned Act, for road-construction, bridge and culvert building, and constructing and metalling approaches thereto, in the Waipareira Riding in the County of Waitemata, the said Waitemata County Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of one farthing in the pound upon the rateable value of all rateable property in the whole of the Waipareira Riding in the County of Waitemata, the boundaries of which are legally defined as a legal subdivision ; and that such special rate shall be an annually recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable yearly on the 30th day of June in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of 36½ years, or until the loan is fully paid off.

In the matter of the Companies Act, 1908, and of THE PIAKO SHIPPING COMPANY (LIMITED).

NOTICE is hereby given that a petition for the winding-up of the above-named company by the Supreme Court was on the 24th day of July, 1923, presented to Mr. Justice Herdman, a Judge of the Supreme Court, by Frank Ezekiel McKenzie and Stanley Logan Paterson, creditors of the said company ; and the said petition is directed to be heard before a Judge of the said Court on the 22nd day of August, 1923 ; and any creditor or contributory of the said company desirous to oppose the making of an order for the winding-up of the said company under the above Act should appear at the time of hearing by himself or his counsel for that purpose ; and a copy of the petition will be furnished to any creditor or contributory of the said company requiring the same, by the undersigned, on payment of the regulated charge for the same.
